About the operator
- kez19200Day TourWe had a very enjoyable day travelling to Hahndorf, Victor Harbor then on to the Cube at McLaren Vale. Our guide Pooja was polite, friendly and very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this tour.
- 500kayed00The Barossa in StyleWe enjoyed a very personalised tour of the Barossa with our driver Yesh by car. He was very informative and was quick to point things of interest. Sincere thanks from Kaye, Lorraine and Angela.
- 500kayed00Absolutely beautiful! We had an amazing tour of the McLarenvale region and Harndorf. Our driver Maddy was exceptional with his courtesy and knowledge just amazing. Thanks again Maddy for making our tour special! Kaye, Lorraine and Angela. 😊
- Exploration64658100Steer ClearI would highly recommend booking another company for a decent tour of the Barossa valley. Paul was poor in communication/organisation, when I booked I noted where our large group (18px) was staying. In the lead up to the day I emailed and called numerous times to confirm the pick up time and location (even sending through a detailed plan of guest accommodations) and on the day prior to the tour, we were finally able to connect and were then 'blamed' for not communicating that we were not travelling from Adelaide. Paul was abrupt and rude from the outset and set a sour mood early on. We were taken to one decent winery, a place that sold port, and a 'winery' for an average lunch, from here were arranged for another tasting. It was a very disappointing day. Paul, I think you are burnt out and need a career change.
- rodo51800itinerary and driver great, bus uncomfortableGeerd gave great commentary with humor and good knowledge. We enjoyed the whole itinerary: attractions, scenery, photo stops, food stops etc. Only downside, 13 seater bus back seat and tight suspension gave a lumpy ride on SA crap roads.
- 491ashleea00Relaxed and enjoyable boutique winery tour.Sam was great. It was a relaxed and enjoyable tour with plenty of time at each stop and the boutique wineries are a must visit. A wonderful day!
- Camper61525400👍 Victor Harbour 'Bums on Seats' tour, great value. Highly recommend.Excellent choice for a day tour. Our driver/guide Harshil was very obliging regarding tour itinerary and time spent at locations. With our small group of 5, we enjoyed a wonderful day. 😀
- chrisandmelholiday00Very disappointed, no commentary. The day started with our driver asking whether we wanted to do wine testing or not; and if not, we would spend more time in Hahndorf. It was explained that we had to decide straight away whether to do the wine testing because it had to be booked. My wife and I are not big drinkers and apparently no one else was because everyone else agreed to skip the wine tasting. What wasn't explained was that the winery had a surrealist exhibition and sale featuring 25 authentic Salvador Dali paintings. Sure, we weren't interested in wine tasting, but missing out on a Salvador Dali exhibition, you have got to be kidding me. The venues and sights were great, but absolutely no commentary at all. At Mt Lofty, there was another tour guide providing great information, our group was dropped off and told we leave in 20 minutes. Not a single word about the sights, about the development of Adelaide, why the parks surrounded the city and why was there such a wide road leaving the city to the coastline. Nothing. When on the road the driver would (very) occasionally mention something, but the headset was either not working or too low. We mentioned this and nothing changed. Whilst the tour sights looked great, hiring a car and googling the history would have been better. Very disappointed.
- FeeMayLewis00Barossa wine and food tourHad a fab time with this tour company, 14 seater bus but there were only 7 of us and we all enjoyed the day Our driver/host was Maddy, a great guy who obviously loves what he does and was super informative and patient Highly recommend
- M2713NHmicheled00A very enjoyable day outOur driver was incredibly knowledgeable about everything link to the trip - history of the towns, the geography and the tour. The only disappointing thing was the change to the original tour - we did not get to go to Maggie Beer. Maybe the tour change be swapped around so guests do get this opportunity. Our driver was very willing to meet the requests of his guests.
- S1408VZjenniferb00Intimate and social.Deep was friendly, professional and very informative. Trip did cover a lot of areas and we had enough time to explore. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel which was so convenient. Loved that the group Max is 10. We had 8. It made the journey more sociable. We had a diverse group, Nsw Au. Sydney Au. New Zealand and American. We all enjoyed our trip and each other's company. Highly recommend this tour group.
- Anderbears00BarossaGreat tour. Pick up and drop off from our hotel. Small group of 7 of us. We all got on very well during the day. Knowledgeable guide. Well worth it. I would recommend.
- Lele22400Great day out!We had a fun day out with Sandy as our driver. Sandy was friendly and drove well. We loved our time in Hahndorf, Victor Harbour and at the winery, The cube. I think the tour was very good but could be better, the trip to Goolwa beach is not necessary, it would be better to go straight to Victor Harbour. Also the chocolate was a waste of time. We would have preferred more time at the winery. We did not go to the Almond train. Our wine tasting (paid as an $20 extra) was booked for 3:30pm but the venue stop tastings at 4pm so it was rushed and we didn’t get to enjoy the full experience of The Cube. Definitely need more than 45 mins there. We expected to be in a mini bus as the pictures show but it was a family sized van. It was squishy for the adults in the back. It was an enjoyable day and a good way to see the area.
- Simy66600Beware of this Tour Operator! Unreliable, and poor service. The worst you can imagine in a tour. They advertise private or bespoken tours, then cancelled a few hours in advance because they did not reach the right number of participants. The fact was I had booked a tour ONLY for two people (my husband and I). We were relocated to another tour with the same characteristics'…well, instead of a private tour to four wineries (vineyards and wine cellars) led by an expert, we were taken to visit four wine shops, where the only purpose was to sell us wines. Instead of lunch in a starred restaurant in a famous wine estate, we had an indecent meal in a filthy bar on the side of a highway. The driver treated us like parcels, as he was craving to get home early. So, the tour that was supposed to last five hours lasted three and a half instead. Traised up a complaint but the manager I spoke with told me off in a rude manner. The only refund we got has been AUS 60 (£30), nothing in comparison to the huge fee we paid.
- Wanderer6051774477000Great Town VisitsWe travelled with our guide Sandy to many towns around the Adelaide area which we enjoyed. The vehicle used on our tour was a little difficult to get in and out of, particularly for older people. Whilst we had a great day out with Sandy, his history knowledge of the areas could be better as many of the questions the group asked, he could not answer. However, he had a great personality.

Not sure it was worth the money to be honest.
Picked up at 8:40, first drop of wine at 12:10pm.
I do not recommend adding the coffee and cake as you then miss out on walking around Hahndorf.
Of the expected 4-5 wineries - We went to 3, kersbrook, kies and twin valley estate. We also didn’t get to go to Maggie Beers as if we went we would have only gone to two wineries.
Afterwards, after mentioning we had only had 3 wineries, we got offered the seppisfield and penfolds winery, at our own cost. We decided against as it was 5pm by then.
No one was late, we were there early. I can’t see why this was so unorganised. The driver kept forgetting that certain places were closed so we would rock up and then leave.
The driver (Bob) stopped to tell a story at one point and waited for a person to get off the phone. Like just continue on.
Paul called me multiple times when he couldn’t get a hold of Bob.
Bob was friendly but would recommend for an older group rather than 30year olds.
I have been on previous trips with Bums On Seats and had been so excited to do it again with different visitors to Adelaide. However this was not like our previous tour.
Like Bob would constantly remind us - things used to be better here.

Hello Anna
Thanks for your one star review :)
Anna you forgot to tell everybody that YOU booked the wrong tour ??
As the brochure clearly says :
Hahndorf/Barossa
1 hour in Hahndorf
Coffee & Cake optional?
2-3 wineries
So you were offered another winery instead of Maggie’s ?? You owe us ??
The fact that you got offered another winery at your cost would have been a bonus and on Bob’s time
I rang you once with an important message for bob as I new he was driving and oops sorry rang you twice by mistake while trying to reach other customers..
you forgot to tell everyone how long you were at lunch ??
I think for those who require more alcohol please choose:
Barossa Food & wine
4-5 & lunch & Maggie’s
Ps I think you were a little hard on bob and I’m not showing this to him because it would break his heart
Paul

I enjoyed this tour very much. Paul took us to some great wineries and he was very responsive to our wants. He was knowledgeable and gave a good running commentary. He has some viewpoints which don't align with mine, and some visitors might find it confronting, saying that I would have him round for a BBQ any day of the week.

I received a text message the day prior to our planned day tour, confirming our
pre organized pickup from The Haven Marina in Glenelg. Both Pick up & drop off ran very smoothly. The bus driver, Ash was very friendly & our small tour bus was air conditioned and quite comfortable.
The tour itself was very well organized, great value for money and ran to schedule. The bus driver also had plenty of bottled water on board for anyone wanting a fresh drink along the way.
Being our first time to Adelaide and South Australia as a whole, we chose this particular tour as we wanted to see the Barossa Valley & were keen to visit Hahndorf after hearing so many good things about this quaint little town.
We also didn't want to spend the entire day just bus hopping from winery to winery.
We visited 2 wineries, the second of which lunch was supplied, included in our initial ticket price and comprised of your own choice from a good menu option given.
Water is included with the meal, and understandably alcoholic beverages or soda is also available but at your own cost.
We also went to Maggie Beer Farm, the Barossa chocolate factory and then had an hour to browse and shop in the gorgeous small town of Hahndorf which
was definitely everything we had anticipated and more.
We could have easily spent a whole day here.
I would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to take in a relaxing full day tour around the Barossa Valley area. Well worth the bus trip if your happy to only do
2 winery stops and drink as many samples as you wish with the convenience of being picked up and dropped off at your Adelaide accommodation.
It's also a great way to see the Adelaide countryside and surrounds without the hassle of driving yourself.
Thank you to our driver Ash and to the Bums on Seats Company. we had an awesome day.

Probably would have liked to try at least 1 more winery and also have more time at Hansdorf. Thought we would at least get coffee included in the price at Maggie Beers also we all thought we were having lunch at a winery not a very basic cafe. Pretty disappointing all round.

Firstly I dislike putting a complaint on social media - but after phoning the company directly and giving them time to remedy my issue - I will say that they do not limit this trip to 10 ppl. The van comfortably would seat 10 for the journey, but we had 12 passengers and 1 no show - so they booked for 13ppl and not the 10 max they advertise. I phoned to advise but they have not changed their comms as apparently new owners have taken over and they now take more ppl per trip but have not updated their website. And still not updated it. It was squashed and cramped for what is a long trip. The only reason I booked this got our group was the small number so it was disappointing. Enjoyable, but being squashed together on windy roads was not.

Unorganised pick up’s with the driver arriving late and around the city for an hour to pick up people before the tour even started. I understand that there was traffic and wet weather but they should have requested for people to meet at a central place instead of going to 8 different hotels. This caused us to rush the last few items on the tour and missing out on going to the Maggie Beer farm.

Cannot recommend Bums On Seats Tours highly enough.
Paul (our guide) is affable, knowledgeable and welcoming. He made us feel comfortable from the start and we we knew we were in for a great day with lots of laughs.
Bus was clean and comfortable, the cellar doors we visited were boutique and a refreshing change from visiting the bigger name wineries with some beautiful wines tasted and purchased. The included lunch was tasty and plentiful with some very nice choices. Although windy and rainy on the day, Hahndorf was still a lovely town to visit, such a pretty place.
All in all a fantastic value for money daytrip and thank you Paul from David and myself for going the extra mile at the end of the day making our onward travel even easier.
Will definitely recommend Bums On Seats to friends.

We were expecting a mini bus so were surprised to be travelling with 2 other couples in an 8 seater car. The driver didn’t interact or provide any commentary so we travelled in silence. The tour covers a fair distance by visiting the hills and the Barossa, so a lot of time is spent driving. Only two wineries were visited. I felt that too much time was allowed for lunch at Kies.

Overall, this was a very disappointing day. The itinerary looked great , so we decided to book the tour. The pickup point was the Pullman Hotel, but it was unclear where we were to wait. We were originally scheduled start the tour at 9:30, but received an email the day before saying that it would be at 9:15. We stood around in the cold until about 9:40, apparently there were road closures. The driver had to use Google maps on a passenger’s phone to locate the pickup locations for the other people on the tour. Once underway, the driver went through 2 red lights, and ran a few yellows. As my wife and I are retired professional drivers we were a little alarmed. Perhaps the driver was trying to make up time, but this does not excuse his behaviour.
Maggie Beers Farm was rather disappointing, as there were no refreshments available as they were too busy. We felt that we were brought there just to buy something.
The chocolate factory had an amazing selection.
We really enjoyed the wine tastings. Both wineries had an excellent selection of wines. The woman in charge of the tasting at Chateau Yaldara was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
We were looking forward to the lunch, but were disappointed that the menu we received the day before, was not available when we arrived. It had listed a steak sandwich, but it was not an option when we submitted our lunch order. The pie that was on the menu that my wife ordered was not available, so she had to have the chicken, which was very good.
Hahndorf was a bit of a letdown as many shops were closed. It didn’t feel like a German town at all.
The ride back was noisy as the driver allowed some intoxicated passengers to use Bluetooth to connect to the PA system and have a singalong.
If not for this, we would have had a more enjoyable experience.
All in all, I would not recommend this tour, as there was very little commentary during the tour about the areas we were passing through, and it was not as advertised.

We were left standing in front of our hotel for over 40 minutes to finally have a call from our driver asking where we were? He was at the Stamford Plaza Adelaide and we were at the Stamford Grand Adelaide, Glenelg as selected on the original drop box when booking and confirmed the previous night when the text is sent confirming the hotel pick up times. The driver apologised but he can only go by the information in front of him, the person sending the text and organizing the pick up schedule should be double checking the hotels especially if there are 2 with similar names. The company sent an Uber and we met the rest of the tour in Hahndorf but it felt rushed and were not able to enjoy the morning. There ended up being 13 people in the bus, so much for the 10 maximum number. The commentary was hard to hear as the microphone wasn't loud. The 3 wineries were good and lunch was delicious. We did have a good day but just make sure if you are booking from the Stamford Grand Adelaide in Glenelg you double check that its understood as the concierge at the hotel said that that's happened before with this company.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the mix-up in hotel pick-up locations Vitina. We understand that this impacted the start of your tour and we're sorry that you felt rushed. We'll certainly take your feedback into consideration and make sure to double-check hotel locations in the future to avoid any confusion.
We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the wineries and found the lunch to be delicious. However, we're sorry that the commentary was hard to hear and that there were more people on the bus than expected.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We'll use it to improve our services and ensure a better experience for all of our customers. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better tour experience in the future.

Hello, the itinerary doesn’t have the Hahandorf village on it so I have a few questions please.1: Does every trip go there or is this optional depending on the guests ? 2: What order of the day does it come in, beginning/end etc. 3: How long do you get in the village? My other half wants to go and will be gutted if he can’t get beers if I’m drinking wine all day haha. Thanks 👍
