        Do this!
Fabulous few hours walking, snorkeling, swimming and rafting in the river. Our brilliant and friendly guides, Josephine and Sammi, made this such an enjoyable experience - loved by our whole group - 2 adults and 2 kids (9 and 11). We were also lucky with amazing weather and a small group of 5 for our trip. Would absolutely recommend this trip. Such a unique experience and a thoroughly fabulous way to experience the rainforest and the river!

        Beautiful and fun
Highly recommend this activity for singles, couples and families of all ages. It was fun and informative. The walking and floating and swimming are easy to manage towards the end of the dry season. It would be awesome if there were adult only tours. We (a couple in our mid 50s) ended up on a tour with 2 young families of 4 that slowed things down and made it a bit noisier than expected. Will and Josephine did their best to give us a private experience away from the families. Nonetheless, we wouldn't hesitate to do this again. Janie and Jim

        Beautiful River Drifting!
We did the River Drift Adventure! It was so beautiful, drifting along the river under the canopy of the rainforest listening to the trees, birds and water! Vincent & Renee were great guides, very knowledgeable and friendly! Free photos of the day were amazing and greatly appreciated! A very very safe activity that doesn’t require a high level of fitness or swimming ability (although the river level was quite low when we did it, I believe it gets deeper depending on the season & rainfall). Highly recommended!

        Relaxing drift, but...
Our family (incl 2 teenagers) enjoyed our river drift experience. There was more walking than I expected, although it makes sense - to drift down the river, you have to walk upstream first. Our guides Will and Nike were enthusiastic and full of knowledge but we would have felt more comfortable if one of them would walk at the back of the group, instead of both at the front. Our 13yo was a little slower (the rest of the group were all adults) and we were a little behind the rest of the group a lot of the time. At one point we were even left behind - my son stopped to empty the sand from his boot and the group continued on without noticing (we called out but they didn't hear). They walked through the forest and we were lucky we were able to find them (the path is not clear). When we caught up they were in the middle of a talk about a tree, with no apparent recognition that 1/3 of the group was missing. It was rather disconcerting. Other than that it was a great experience, and the long river drift at the end is very relaxing and refreshing.

        Perfect family adventure
We did the River Drift Experience and had a fantastic time! We had our 8 and 14 yr old daughters with us and our 17 yr old niece. All loved it. Josh and Josephine, our guides were accommodating and very knowledgeable. We learned heaps about the environment we were visiting. Highly recommend. Bonus points for having some of the least uncomfortable wet suits we have tried and for having inclusive sizes, including for rounder ladies!

        Dreamy river drift.
We had a great afternoon with Will and Artemis, who were not only excellent guides and instructors but provided excellent insight about the environments we visited. We really enjoyed the river drift experience and highly recommend it.

The River Drift Experience on Mossman river is fantastic.
Highly recommend the RiverDrift adventure! If you only have a few days for the rainforest and Mossman area, this is it! Joshua and Josephine were extremely interested in their work and keen to share their knowledge of the local fauna, flora and history. We went with family that included kids aged 12,15,16 and it was active, fun and engaging. We have had many tours and activities this week, including the reef and this rated above all for us!

        Activity was too short
I did the River Drift in 2018 and it was amazing. Unfortunately second experience doing this tour was very average. The river drift is cut much shorter with only about 20 minutes of drifting down the river. A lot of driving and walking for an activity that only lasts 20 minutes is not worth the money or time. The guides were fantastic, it’s just that the river drift is way too short.

Great way to see the river
Had a blast on the river drift tour! It was the perfect blend of adventure and serenity. Floating down the river, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, was both exhilarating and peaceful. Sure, it required a bit of paddling, but that just added to the fun and sense of accomplishment. The guides were fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and truly made the experience unforgettable. Whether you're looking for a bit of exercise or simply a unique way to soak in the views, this tour is a must-try. Can't recommend it enough! 5 stars for an unforgettable day out off the beaten track.

        A beautiful experience 😍
We just completed the first Mossman River Drift tour after the Cyclone and floods, and it was absolutely brilliant. We did this same tour in 2022, and while it's now a slightly different experience, it is no less magical. Our guides Cisco and Vincent were great, and we had so much fun laughing and enjoying the beautiful cool water. Don't let the floods stop you doing this once-in-a-lifetime experience, escape the heat and float down the cool river.

        Great Experience!
My husband and I recently enjoyed a private tour of the Daintree Rainforest with our guide, Vincent, who spoke with great knowledge about the animals and especially, the plants and trees of the rainforest while leading us on walks through various areas. Additionally, he took us to Cooya Beach, where we had the opportunity to go spearfishing and mud crabbing with 2 aboriginal guides who, after spearing both crabs and a shovel nose ray, proceeded to invite us into their family home where they cooked their catch and shared it with us. It was a wonderful tour during which we had great once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

My wife and I did the Mossman Gorge Adventure tour a bit differently today. The immense rains the Daintree has had over the past few days has risen the river to a height that wasn’t quite safe to river drift and snorkel. A decision that the tour operators and guides made and we all supported. The rushing river was a spectacular sight and great to see, from the viewing platforms and walking tracks. Water levels a bit lower and less strength in them and it would’ve been a great drift.

So because of the decision to not do the river drift, we did the tour in reverse. I think that was a better way to operate this personally. The smoking ceremony by a local indigenous member, welcoming us to his land, was a great start to a great morning. Very educational and was a great experience.

Morning tea and then the trek through the rainforest was really enlightening and quite impressive. Our guide, Will, was a man with a wealth of knowledge. He made sure he stopped us at certain points, and spoke well about the different plant life, animals and the Daintree history. It was quite a good walk through seeing many species of plants, trees and the rush and flow of the Mossman River and Rex Creek.

Highly recommended to all coming up to Far North Queensland. And doing it in reverse would’ve had us swimming at the end. Probably easier to walk the tracks dry, eat lunch and then finish with the swim to cool off.

It was a great day and a great experience & look forward to the river drift next time we come.

We recommend tours with Back Country Bliss. They kept us up to date with tour information & did their best to accommodate a different tour date when the initial tour couldn’t go ahead due to weather, or offered a refund if required by us.

Thanks Trish for your review and glad you still enjoyed half of your Mossman Gorge Adventure Day. Rain is always welcome here in the tropics but it can also mean our rivers & creeks are flooded which makes it unsuitable for our River Drift Snorkel. The welcome to country ceremony is amazing and glad you got to experience it. I will pass on your gratitude to Will and we hope next time you visit the sun is out.

Awesome day out! Will was our tour guide and was so knowledgeable and fantastic on the day!
The water was low-ish so we had some calm moments and some rapids, which made the experience all the more fun, we had moments of relaxing and floating through and soaking up the beauty of the forest and saw a turtle, then we were instructed on how to navigate through small rapids, which sure ended in lots of laughs and smiles (if you fell of you can just stand up and get back on the float in most spots). We had two small kids on our tour and Will was making sure they even felt safe and were laughing and having a good time and took them under his wing allowing their parents to even enjoy the experience care free. We only did the half day experience so no lunch was included but we were given cookies at the end.
Highly recommend this experience especially if you're short on day's holidaying, this is a must do!

Trent was a wonderful guide in our all day private tour, coming superbly equipped with towels, pastries, water bottles, chilled hand towels, insect repellent, bags and berries….no guide has ever been so well prepared!

Picked up at 715 am we went on a private boat tour looking for salt water crocodiles, in a beautiful bucolic lush bayou. David the guide there was knowledgeable and friendly and thoughtful.

Trent then took us to Mossman Gorge, where we explored the trail up the river and he kindly pointed out a huge golden orb spider and Boyd forest dragon lizard. We dipped our feet in the river in a newly formed beach in the wake of the December 2023 floods and cooled off.

After an elaborate prix fixe lunch at the spectacular Treehouse Restaurant in the swanky Silky Oaks Lodge and Spa overlooking the river, Trent took us to Koko (sp?) beach where Brandon Walker, an indigenous guide, did an amazing walkthrough of various marine animals and plants and the medicinal and practical bush lore surrounding each. He showed us how to throw a spear and boomerang, then kindly took us back to his nearby family home, where he introduced us to his parents and kids and showed amazing hospitality.

      A lifetime experience!

Such a fantastic day exploring the Daintree and Mossman Gorge. I can’t recommend this trip highly enough.
Trent was our guide for a day which started with a traditional Kuku Yalanji smoking ceremony and explanation of how indigenous people have lived in and nurtured the rainforest.
Then a fascinating and easy trek through the forest learning about the plants, trees and wildlife. After a great lunch in a locally run cafe we grabbed our inflatable rafts and walked up the Mossman river.
Clear and clean in the most beautiful setting it was almost too perfect.. hard to believe it had been unchanged for up to a 180 million years. We drifted back to our start point in the most relaxing and fun way imaginable.
Trent made the day hugely enjoyable, his humour, knowledge and constant eye on safety meant we were in great hands. Our kids - 11 and 13 - said it was the best day ever (I think about 11 feels the youngest you’d want to take given the walking and carrying of the raft. The river is shallow and feels very safe but you will want to be happy around water for this trip).
Please sign up - you’ll be glad you did.

A great time was had by all ok’d and young. Artemist was a great guide informative and passionate about the environment and ably supported by Wayne though he is the boss.
The ride through the rapids was great fun and the dive in and around the Cathedral was good to see the fish swimming in the eddy. The float from the cathedral to the end was tranquil and serene. A great morning of fun

This was the absolute highlight of our trip to PD. We loved every moment of the tour and felt liked we were in the expert hands of old friends from the moment we were picked up from our accomodation. Yes! our guides - Will and Ryan were AMAZING and shared so many unique insights and personal stories. Snorkelling down the Mossman Gorge is unmissable - the water is crystal clear and the rainforest welcomes you in all its glory, we saw turtles, lots of fish, lizards, butterflies and the ancient trees. We would recommend to anyone to do this tour and getaway from the tourist trails and experience the Daintree in a unique way. We did the full day tour that includes rafting and snorkelling Mossman Gorge, followed by an indigenous ‘smoking’ ceremony and interpretative rainforest walk. Absolutely unforgettable! Can’t wait to return to PD and do it again!!!!!

Today we spent the day with Will from Back Country Bliss Adventures, and had a wonderful day river drafting and walking through Mossman Gorge. River Drafting was like nothing we’d done before and is an amazing way to see the Daintree (we were also accompanied by Renee for this part of the day, and she provided excellent guidance as we headed down the river). Will’s knowledge and connection to the region was evident and we learnt so much during our day with him. We rounded the day off with a swim in a secluded and beautiful billabong - would highly recommend this day out.

A super fun day out! We started with a snorkel through the gorge and relaxing on rafts. We even got to go down some rapids which was fun. Then lunch at a local cafe and onto a hike through the Mossman gorge park where we also got to go for a dip in some hidden gems. The guide was very knowledgeable and fun.
