Overview
The Kuranda Scenic Railway runs from Cairns to Kuranda, affording spectacular views of Queensland’s Wet Tropics, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On this tour, experience Gold Class service as you ride the famous railway, enjoy free time to explore the markets and wildlife parks of Kuranda, and ride the thrilling Skyrail Rainforest Cableway for even more incredible views.
What to Expect
After pickup from your Cairns or Port Douglas hotel, transfer to the railway station to board the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Using your skip-the-tickets, hop straight aboard, and take your seats in the comfortable Gold Class carriages. On the 1-hour and 45-minute journey, gaze out over the magnificent landscapes of Barron Gorge National Park, with its dense rain forest, dramatic gorges, and tumbling waterfalls. As you take in the views, sip a glass of sparkling wine and enjoy the provided tea, coffee, and snacks.

On arrival, enjoy free time to browse the shops or purchase lunch in Kuranda village, learn more about the region’s indigenous heritage at the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park (optional, own expense), or spot kangaroos and koalas in the Rainforestation Nature Park (optional, own expense).

Return to Cairns via a thrilling ride on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, including two stops at viewing stations along the way, where you can enjoy a firsthand view of the rain forest, following purpose-built boardwalks.

Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

Hi Michael, we did it end of July this year and wore shorts and t shirts. I`m sure they will be operating in June as the weather is quite warm at that time of year and less rain.
