I booked this trip and wholeheartedly recommend the ‘Outdoors Dreaming’ tour. Mike was our guide and his local knowledge of Darwin, beyond and into Litchfield Nat P was a true credit to this company.
Whilst this time of year is incredibly hot and humid, the stops were measured, considered and ideal.
It’s a packed long day of sightseeing and worth every bit of it. The finishing touch was a visit to Adelaide River to embrace the behaviour and habits of crocodiles. I know this Adelaide River tour was outsourced, the fellow running it was not finishing this tour until the best crocodile experience was witnessed. I’m sorry I didn’t recall the guide or his phenomenal company name.

Di our driver & guide was extremely thoughtful & accommodating. We had young people, older people & foreigners but she guaged the ability of all & made the tour work for all. She is very knowledgeable.
The minibus we had however was very cramped & difficult to move in as it was full.

An all-day tour with perfectly timed stops visiting termite mounds, watering holes and falls. Our driver Mick gave great commentary on the way and the food was great, plenty to keep us going throughout the day. The absolute highlight was the crocodile tour at the last stop. A private tour for the bus group of 20 boarded a small boat and headed up the Adelaide river where our guide Rex knew which bit of the river belonged to which crocodile (their territory). We sat in the boat as he fed them and they leapt out of the water mere centimetres from the boat. It was spectacular and was the perfect ending to an amazing trip, leaving us with a real buzz

Highly recommend this company and the day tour to Litchfield.
Kelda was an amazing tour guide/driver/lunch host !! We learned so much about the area on the drive itself . Kelda is so knowledgeable and a beautiful friendly, warm hostess. The itinerary is relaxed, undemanding and caters for all age groups. Three stops in the morning at beautiful Litchfield swimming holes ... Florence Falls, Buley Rockhole and Wangi Falls for plenty of cooling down time in these stunning settings. Alternative options if you don’t fancy a swim. Snacks and a delicious healthy lunch provided. Plenty to eat and cold water available all day . Tour highlight in the afternoon is the Croc cruise on the Adelaide River with Pat. Pat is a legend! Passionate, knowledgeable and welcoming. He runs his own business, has his own boat and knows the river and the crocs. Not concerned with being over commercialised but just getting on with doing what he does and doing it damn well !!! Best cruise option available for croc experience. We were thrilled with the experiences of getting up close and personal with several BIG crocs, two at least 6 metres long. Fabulous day . Please do yourself a favour and book a tour with Off-road a dreaming. Kelda you are an asset to this company . Thankyou ! Thankyou Pat for the Croc experience, you are a legend . Value for money and worth every cent .

This Offroad Dreaming bus tour undersells itself. It is hardly advertised, and doesn't appear on any online Tourism advertising at the tourist office. Yet it delivers a first class experience. Safety in the water holes and the Adelaide River are a premium. Kelda, our guide for the bus segment of the tour, was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job.
I was quite apprehensive about the boat segment of the tour before we sailed along the Adelaide river, as the boat seemed unpretentious. But the boat tour guide (Pat) was superb. He has lived in the area all his life, and on the river > 28 years. His intimate knowledge and love of the crocs and kites we saw was unbelievable. Crocs came up to within about 30-60cm of our faces, but we were very safe because of special metal mesh inserted into the side 'windows' of the boat which prevented them from entering the boat sides. We had 15 passengers in the bus and boat, and all were very impressed with the whole day's events. Well done, Offroad Dreaming!

Great day in a beautiful part of the world. Magnificent waterfalls and swimming holes topped off with the appearance of 2 alpha male 5metre crocs (and some diminutive females) in the Adelaide River. A thrilling end to the day.
On a negative note, the bus to Litchfield was ridiculously cramped for the distances travelled.

What a relaxing amazing day! Collected from hotel early morning and watched the sunrise in the bus. Headed out to Adelaide River, where Rex took us to see the crocodiles up close and personal! Rex was amazing and ensured that he shared the experience with everyone, making sure both sides of the boat got a good look at all of the crocs that he knew by name. Headed to Litchfield National Park and were shown and swam in waterfalls and taken to the
termite mounds. Was given snacks, lunch and cold water along the way. Nifty and Di were full of knowledge and very informative. A small group of 14 so we weren't fighting to get on and off the bus or a space in the water. Amazing day out and would highly recommended it! Well done!!

My adult son and daughter and I took this tour with Lynne as our guide. She was outstanding in her local knowledge of history, the flora and fauna and people if Darwin. She had the perfect blend of personal stories and relevant and interesting stories. The tour group was lovely, the snacks and lunch fresh and delicious. A variety if stops to see the termite mounds and the splendour of the parks water holes and trails. The swim spots that lynne took us to were magical.
Pat the crocodile guide had an innate respect for the reptiles and was brilliant in his capacity to convey information about these magical creatures. I have travelled the world and this was one of the most informative and fun tours ever- highly recommend it and if you can have Lynne as your guide- you will leave the park all the wiser.

We had an excellent day out on the Litchfield tour with Nifty Nev of Offroad Dreaming. We were collected from our accommodation precisely at the scheduled time, and enjoyed every minute of the trip. The spectacular croc adventure was excellent - great to see these magnificent creatures in their own place, even if it does feel a bit weird to feed them chicken. And the waterholes of Litchfield, termite mounds and other activities were just as promised, accompanied by a delicious lunch and a great mix of abundant snacks. Thanks Nev, we had a great day.

At this stage this trip has been the highlight of my two weeks holidaying in Darwin.
The visit to the termite mounds was ‘ho hum’.
But the visit to the three waterfall pools with ability to swim in two was amazing. The freshness of the water which emanates from an underground spring is so refreshing
Lunch was ok but below the standard of that given on the company’s Kakadu trip
The absolute highlight was the ‘leaping crocodile’ cruise. To be only metres away from 3-5 metre monsters grabbing the prize chicken offered by Rex the boat operator defies description

Is this the Litchfield tour that is the small group and includes the jumping croc river cruise with Pat? Many reviews say so, but the tour doesnt mention the cruise in the details?

I had a similar experience with "Off Road Dreaming" tour. It was like that for us. But, to make sure it will be the same for you, it is better that you contact the tour and verify with them directly.
Is there much walking involved? If so is it hard going?(Thinking of my Mum)?

Hi, Greetings from Australia. My neighbour is from Israel and is a place I would like to visit.. There were 9 people on our tour, including us. The tour bus is small and could probably only carry around 15-20 people when full. We were the only Australians, the others were English, Swedish and German. I would recommend this tour because it is for smaller groups. The guide on the crocodile part of the tour is an interesting character. A good day all round.

Hi, I see that this tour and, many others are available only till 31/10/2018.
Why there are no tours in November/December - in fact, till May 2019?
We are planning our first visit to Australia.

I went yesterday March 15th. Fantastic trip. The only part not available for swimming was Wangi falls ( because of the wet season ) but we had 2 other opportunities to swim.

On tour .... in your coaches, do you have bathrooms

No toilet on the mini bus but regular stops either at cafes or with decent change facilities at the national park areas. Everyone is clear when the breaks will be to plan for their needs. The smaller tours are much better in my view than larger coaches where the toilets are often quite smelly anyway.

What is the walking terrain like? Is it mainly flat or are there steep descents and climbs for the waterfalls etc?

It’s all pretty good. There are options in some places for the slightly more adventurous. The awkward bit for some people was how to scramble out of the water holes!
