- ericrC7688GO0 contributionsA very special experience. This was a very special experience. The guides (James & Glen) explained about the culture of the aboriginal people, showed us some of their sacred places around Uluru and told some of their creation stories. At the end of the day we shared a BBQ dinner under the stars and in the shadow of Uluru with people from all over the world. We felt privileged to spend some time in that special place.Written 15 March 2025
- 794annabelh0 contributionsAn unforgettable experienceHaving great tour guides can make a tour. Both Hailey and Julian were very knowledgeable about the area and the indigenous people. We learnt so much about the historical stories and morals which were pointed out and explained so well at various locations. Diana and BeverleyWritten 12 March 2025
- luvtravel880 contributionsFantastic Trip!We were picked up at 5:00 and taken to a platform to watch the sunrise over Uluru. Breakfast wasn’t included, but they offered coffee, tea and hot chocolate and some cookies. Once the sun was up, we had a outa 45 minute ride to Kata Jjuta. Once there, we walked down into Wolfpack Gorge. This was a 2.4 km round trip walk on very rocky, uneven terrain and it made a wind tunnel as well, so it was. Dry windy. It was very hot and sunny and the flies were everywhere and relentless. We wished we had brought face nets with us. The walk was beautiful and we were glad to have done it. Our guide gave us a bit of information along the way, it it was difficult, because people moved at their own pace. On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at a viewing platform where we could see 6 or 7 of the 36 domes all at once. We returned to the hotel about 11:45.Written 11 March 2025

- deborahhG7802XW0 contributionsWay too expensive! Not worth the $$This was absolutely the worst tour I have ever been on. This tour should have been cancelled and money refunded. It was 113^F outside. The bus ac could not keep up and it was over a 100^F in the bus. Us as well as several other guests complained and all was said was that the ac was on and to drink water. The national park had closed trails due to the extreme heat but the tour went on an over an hour hike and parts were on the closed trails. The sunset stop with tapas was ok. But to serve chips/salsa and carrots/humus on napkins made it very difficult to eat. They only served wine and juice. When it’s 113^F you should not be drinking wine or juice! By the time we got to this stop the bus ran out of water and there was no way to get more . We then headed to the bbq. The food was ok. The staff was amazing . The music was a Bluetooth speaker. The sky talk about the stars was very good! Overall this tour was way over priced for what you got. I would recommend booking with another company. We are still fighting with them for a refund for 2 people who did not go. We used the website and cancelled the tour over 3 weeks ago. We sent 2 more follow up emails before arriving here. Once we arrived they said it was less than 7 days and will not refund us. We have shown documentation of the emails as well as screen shots of the website errors and issues and they are still refusing to refund the money. We will keep fighting but it really puts a damper on your vacation.Written 11 February 2025

We heard the stories of the original inhabitants of this magical land. Very hot but well worth the experience.Written 11 February 2025
- Clownfish880 contributionsAmazing experience - magnificent sunrise and challenging but rewarding hike!My husband and I booked the "Kata Tjuta Sunrise and Valley of the Winds Half-Day Trip" through Viator. At 4:40 am, the tour bus picked us up from our hotel - Sails in the Desert. We headed to a viewing platform where we caught the most magnificent sunrise as it lights up the mountain sides of Kata Tjuta. The tour had coffee, morning biscuits, fresh fruits and fruit cups. I was so nice to eat under that beautiful sky. After breakfast, we headed on our amazing 3 hrs / 5.4 km hike at Kata Tjuta National Park. This hike to the Karingana lookout is a Grade 4 - Difficult level hike. It was a challenging mainly at the end of the hike; I was so proud of myself for completing it since I'm 55 and not exactly super fit. Our tour guide (from Italy ... sorry, I don't remember her name) was fantastic. She made sure that everyone got through the tough parts of the trail and gave us a number of breaks to rest and enjoy the landscape. TIPS: - Be respectful of others on the viewing platform ... give everyone a chance to take pictures. - Be respectful at Kata Tjuta ... let's all enjoy the peace and quiet, and beauty of the land.Written 3 February 2025

Good sunrise position and a wondrous, absorbing gorge walk. Specifically the two tour guides Glen and driver Michael were superb. Interesting, funny, knowledgeable, inclusive and good company. They provided a poignant and fascinating commentary to the tour.Written 8 January 2025

Our guide Catherine and driver Alan took us to the field of lights and allowed us to wander around at our Leisure before we had a morning cuppa while watching Uluru being light up by the morning sunrise. It was spectacular. Catherine had an abundance of knowledge and always answered our questions. The field of lights are magicalWritten 6 January 2025
- Kim Loan L0 contributionsUluru Sunset TourVery basic experience, the Bus just drop off at Uluru, some biscuits and Cheese and waiting for the Sunset. Anyone could get a hop in hop off bus to get there. Too expensive for 99 AUD per person + 38AUD for the park fee.Written 6 January 2025

- wvdk580 contributionsAwesome activity!Wonderful experience! Ayers Rock area is a must see. The area is so full of beauty and culture. Our tour with Nick was educational and spectacular from start to finish! We did the bbq option as well, and the meal was a great experience, out in the shadow of the rock. The night sky, with the stargazing, was a treat. Would definitely visit again!Written 21 December 2024
- donnajholloway0 contributionsMuch less than the resort tours!A large bus picked us up at the resort. Write drove around Uluru and were given commentary on the sacred sites we passed. It was very hot, so I was happy to be in an air conditioned bus for the ride around the rock. We stopped at the cultural center. There was interesting history written within wall art , many photos, and a short movie about the local peoples. There was a gift shop and clean toilets. There was a short walk to a watering hole containing native artwork. Our guide Mitch did a great job telling us about the area and keeping people organized and together. We were taken to a viewing area for the sunset. There was plenty of champagne and light snacks to enjoy while we waited for the sunset. On our visit, there was a huge cloud obstructing the sun, so we didn’t get the colors we were expecting. We did get some amazing lightning in the opposite direction. You can never predict nature! It was great that Mitch kept reminding everyone to keep drinking their water. There was plenty of cold water on the bus and we were able to refill our water bottles at each stop. We were offered folding stools to sit on while waiting for the sunset, but they were too low for this senior citizen. We walked over to an area with benches and picnic tables instead. I could see where this area could get very crowded, but on our night we were okay, and there wasn’t a great view anyway.Written 13 December 2024

MUST DO!
Very early morning (pick up at about 5am, dependent on time of year). Back to the resort before suppertime.
Great hike, Starts with a 520 step climb tp get to the rim...that's the hardest part. Easier after that, but still many more ups and downs, just shorter ones. Good exercise. Bring LOTS of water, particularly in the hot months. Park regulations stipulate 3L per person. On the resort, buy bottled water at the Shell gas station....much cheaper that at the hotels. Or at the IGA grocery store, but not sure about their prices.

This tour was well organized and the logistics were handled well. Our guides were Lincoln and Chloe and they were wonderful. Very knowledgeable and engaging.
It was a super long day with a pick up for us at 4:15am and a return back around 5:00pm.
In our opinion this trip would only be worth it if you are capable of doing the 3 hour rim walk. We were warned that the walk starts with a very steep climb of more than 500 steps and then continues with a lot of up and down. The heat is intense in the high 30’s. While the surrounding area is beautiful, we are not sure it warrants six hours of driving if you don’t see the upper canyon area.
We started on the rim walk but after doing the first 200 steps felt it would be too challenging to continue. Chloe was very understanding as we went back down to join the creek walk. Lincoln provided a very informative walk on the ground of the canyon but it was obviously not as exciting.
The tour advertised the opportunity to enjoy the amenities of a resort but the property was more like a lodge and there were some obnoxious students in the pool. We swam for a bit anyway and then had a nice lunch while waiting for the return back.
We didn’t find the stops on the return to be very interesting and felt they were unnecessary at that point.
Lincoln was an excellent driver and made us feel safe the entire time on a difficult and long journey.
In our opinion if you don’t have the ability to do an extremely difficult hike (graded as a 5) and the definite highlight, then perhaps give it a pass.

Thank you for your feedback! We're glad Lincoln and Chloe provided a great experience. We understand the Rim Walk can be challenging, especially in the heat, and appreciate your honest thoughts. We're sorry the resort and some of the return stops didn't meet expectations. Your insights are helpful, and we’ll take them into account as we aim to improve the overall experience for future travelers.

A 700 km round trip from Ayers Rock Resort with a 4.15am start but worth every minute!.
Guides can definitely make or brake an organized tour and we were blessed to have exceptional guides ..Jacob, Jessie and our driver Vinnie. Jacob especially was a real star - it's easily seen that he has a genuine love for his job. He is extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and patient with an innate ability to inform while at the same time being entertaining!
King's Canyon is a must-do when visiting the Red Centre...and there are many ways to appreciate it. We chose to do the Valley floor walk with Vinnie as our guide. It is a fairly easy walk using both paths and rocks, and finishes on a viewing platform dwarfed by the canyon walls. Vinnie shared a lot of information along the way regarding the local flora and fauna and kept the walk to a good pace allowing time for plenty of photo ops.
Those who choose to do the less strenuous option floor walk also got the opportunity to relax back at the King's Canyon Resort's pool or take an unforgettable, helicopter bird's eye view flight over the canyon....which we did and would highly recommend!
A large portion of our group chose the MUCH more challenging Rim Walk with Jacob & Jessie...despite the 40 degree heat they all returned with smiles and nothing but praise for their guides and all the encouragement and enthusiasm they had offered.
The stops for breakfast at King's Creek Station, lunch at King's Canyon Resort's restaurant, Curtin Springs and the bonus lookout stop to view Mt Connor and the expanse of salt lakes on the opposite side of the road, were all planned well and added to the enjoyment of the tour.

Kings Canyon is worth visiting but only if you do the rim hike. If you don't do it you'll feel like you've wasted a day.
Our guide Michelle was excellent - a mine of information and knowledge about the area (geology as well as local history and culture), who managed to keep us entertained for hours when there was nothing to look at outside.
Breakfast at Kings Creek Station was very good and much appreciated but horribly cold as they serve it in a shed with no heating - I feel like this could be improved slightly for the winter?
There were several aspects of the trip that left us feeling a bit disappointed. We felt it was an unnecessarily long day - there was a lot of time spent waiting around and at the lunch stop resort. If they had two drivers maybe we could have had a packed lunch and eaten it on the coach. Also in winter it would be viable to start the hike quite a bit later so leave Yulara much later.
It was quite a large group, which meant that the hike took significantly longer as we had to keep stopping to wait for everyone to catch up. We did a few extra diversions on the hike because apparently our group of 18 wasn't as large as it sometimes gets, so bear in mind that you may be missing out on a few things if you're in an even larger group.
Regarding the difficulty of the hike - the hardest bit is the first 200 "test" steps and if you have average level of fitness and used to hiking at all, it really isn't difficult in good weather and you shouldn't be put off. I think the guides discourage people because it's a hassle for them if you can't keep up especially in very high temperatures, but you shouldn't feel pressured to turn back because you're having to keep up with the group. Ideally find a way to go independently and then you also have the option to do the South Rim walk instead, which starts in the same place but you come back the same way you go up and only see the canyon from one side instead of both.
We didn't see any wildlife at all on the drive, which I was disappointed about so overall I think it would have been a less tiring day (and a lot cheaper) to do the Valley of the Winds walk at Kata Tjuta.

Very early start to the day at 4.00AM with pick up at 4.45 AM
The driver kept the light on the bus off so we could snooze a another couple of hours, which was nice. We stopped for breakfast and bathroom break at Kings Creek Station. And from there continued to Kings Canyon to do the Rim Walk. Prior to the walk our guide Grace made sure that we understand that the walk will be challenging and an easier option was available.
Myself and my partner opted for the rim walk not without some uncertainties as I am aware my fitness levels are not great, and I was right to worry.
The climb itself was tough for me and the walk too was challenging , mainly because the ground is so uneven and I found myself paying more attention to where my feet go than to the amazing views.
It wasn't a very warm day, yet I found that the 2lt water I was made to carry was almost not enough. Finally, I think a better option would have been to provide each participant with a brunch box to take with them as I found the breakfast to be too heavy before such strenuous walk.
Back on the bus we drove to Kings Canyon Resort for self funded lunch and a bathroom break and after a cold drink continued to another short break in front of Mt Connor and the salt lake. From there we moved on to it to Curtin springs Station for another short break and ridiculously over priced snacks. That was our last stop before heading back to the resort.
Our guides Grace and Tyrone and our driver Vince were all fabulous. Grace was charming and funny and full off little bits of information along the way.
The walk itself was challenging but I can't say I haven't been warned.
I would highly recommend walkers to wear hiking or other grippy shoes as the ground is very uneven. All in all a well run tour.

At first I was hesitant to book this tour due to how expensive it was. Honestly I think a lot of the AAT tours, while great for some people, are a bit overhyped and overpriced if your main goal is to have an active adventure and learn along the way. Though without a guide, often you end up just looking at pretty sights while missing out on the learning.
This tour had just the right balance of “touriness” and adventure. Although the drives to and from Kings Canyon were around 3 hours each starting at 4 AM from the resort, there were sufficient stops along the way (a very good and satisfying breakfast buffet stop on the way there at Kings Creek Station, and Kings Canyon Resort lunch and Curtin Spring visit on the way back). Our guides were also regularly telling us stories about the geology, wildlife, plants, and history of the area (after giving us enough time to nap!), which kept things engaging.
For me, the guides truly made the difference from this being a great tour to being an unforgettable one. Our driver Dan (and guide for those two did the shorter creek walk) was really entertaining and knowledgeable, and our guide Glen for the rim walk (the one I did) on the canyon was an absolute joy to be around. He was extremely kind and a great source of support during the trip, and his passion and knowledge for the land and its history was infectious!
The rim walk hike itself was also one of the most enjoyable walks I’ve ever done due to the level of challenge and the scenery. It has a couple of slightly more challenging parts to keep more experienced hikers entertained, but the majority is accessible to most levels, and even the easier parts are absolutely beautiful, enhanced further by the 5% chance rain we had which created some really rare waterfalls and streams. (Note that if doing this when it’s hot and sunny out, which is most of the time, you will need 3 L of water and good sun protection! And it will NOT look as wet as it is in my photos, even the “Garden of Eden” oasis spot in the center of the canyon.)
All in all, this has become my favorite day spent during my 10-day Australia trip by far. Of course definitely also check out Kata Tjuṯa and Uluru too (I did them independently with the audio guide app and hop-on hop-off buses in one day, busy but good enough for me), but the Kings Canyon day trip is not to be missed and is (in my opinion) worth every dollar. If you have to spend money on just one tour while in Uluru, make it this one. Thank you again so much Glen and Dan!!

The early start and extra long day is absolutely worth it with the trek around the rim. Our group were lucky with the wind that we got all through the hike on what was going to be a hot day (34C but luckily a dry heat). Special mention goes to our guides and driver, Jessie, Michelle and Dave. The staff all had good stories and experiences to share and it's obvious they enjoy what they're doing. We had extra time and got to stop for some photos of "Fooluru" and go up on the dunes to get some nice photos of the salt lakes. The landscape is so green and blooming right now with recent rains after the drought so it was hard to sleep just watching the amazing landscape as we drove back.
The morning breakfast stop and lunch after the scenic rim walk were nice and we got good service. We were initially thinking of doing Kings Canyon via driving ourselves and staying a night, but after experiencing this day trip with AAT Kings, I would recommend doing the tour/coach as you definitely can squeeze a couple more hours of sleep with not having the do the 700km return drive yourself (and paying for the current fuel prices!). The route there isn't rough at all (and there's like only one turn).
I will definitely be recommending this tour for any future friends that do travel to the red centre. We had a great time!

A very early start to the day at 4.14am, however it is definitely worth it. Our first stop at Kings Creek Station at least a couple of hours later was very welcome, the cooked breakfast was fantastic and gave us stamina for the day ahead.
We chose to do the Rim Walk, there was only 7 of us out of the coach that did this as you need to have an above average level of fitness, you climb 500 steps to start and then there are some very steep steps when you climb up and down to the water hole etc. from the top you are rewarded with absolutely stunning views , interesting rock formations and fossils.
Nik was our guide and he was great, very informative, fun and chatty and always looking out for everyone's safety, he is an asset to the business.
The walk is about 3 1/2 hours, the day was around 32c so it was a little hot and you need to take 3 litres of water to do this tour and you will need it. We stopped at Curtin Station on the way home , if you get the chance to talk to the cheeky Corella he will make you laugh - he laughs too !!
it was along day but amazing and a highlight to our trip in NT

Being not a great morning person the 4.15am start didn’t really appeal, however do yourself a favour, make the effort!!! On arrival our tour crew, Chloe, Haley and Jess were outstanding, they catered to all of us, easily placing overseas tourists, locals, us older people and the younger people at ease. They were engaging and provided interesting commentary and facts all day. Breakfast at Kings Creek Station was a bacon and eggs affair for me but there were also healthier options. Then it was on to the Rim Walk at King Canyon. The first 200 steps had people struggling, but being allowed to ascend at a leisurely pace and being encouraged by the guides ensured we all made it to the top and the start of the walk around the rim. The staff were awesome pointing out areas of interest and providing informative commentary. The views and photo opportunities were outstanding. Though I am not an ‘influencer’ I could picture influencers creating outstanding content all around this walk! The spectacular views and scenery cannot be captured via camera….you really just need to do this walk! Although only 6.65km (via the gps watch) it is quite difficult for those that may have limited fitness. The mid morning/midday sun also takes a toll on the south side of the walk, make sure you suck down the water. The walk down is also quite challenging, but the reward of completing this walk is well worth it.
Lunch at the Kings Canyon resort was welcomed and the journey back to Yulara was relaxing. A stop at Atila for photos and also at Curtain Springs roadhouse were also a step back in time. We loved this tour, and the staff running it were outstanding!

We were excited to take the day trip to Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park from our base at Ayer’s Rock Resort, but we had a more fun and memorable day than anticipated! The very early start was tough but the bus was comfortable and it was easy to rest for the ride to Kings Creek Station. Our driver, Phil, was a pro and kept us safe from the critters that may appear on the dark morning highway (he had to abruptly stop for 2 massive camels that were on the side of the road, very cool to see but glad Phil avoided them!). Breakfast was filling with options for vegetarians or those that prefer a light brekkie.
Our guide, John, was one of the best guides we’ve ever had! He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and made safety a top priority. We chose the hike up/around the rim. The first set of steps was steep but manageable if you take your time. After that first part, the rest of the hike is very doable for someone with average fitness. We had 43 people on our walk with a mix of ages (young to more mature) and abilities. John kept a close watch on our large group and made sure everyone kept drinking water and stayed with the group. The hike was spectacular and much more interesting than what we originally thought when we read it was a “rim walk”. Definitely do the optional extra little hike to the Garden of Eden and sit quietly to enjoy the natural beauty of this scared place. The post hike break at Kings Canyon Resort was nice. We packed our own lunch and had a lovely picnic overlooking the mountain ranges. Our final pit stop on the way back to Yulara was a fun surprise at an interesting Outback roadhouse. We highly recommend this trip and our awesome driver (Phi) and guide (John)!

Hi,
Asking again regarding breakfast and lunch:
According to previous answers it looks like it is included in the price.
But it is clearly stated in "Important Information that:
"Exclusions - Food and drinks".
So, is it included or not?
Regards

We stopped at the ranch at 7:30 am for a full breakfast - eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, cereal. After visiting the canyon, we stopped at the Thirsty Dingo for lunch and bought our own. There was a selection of sandwiches at the gas bar and salads, fast food at the bar. We all congregated in the restaurant area to eat. Ice water was in abundant supply on the bus and at the restaurants.

Does this day tour include breakfast? Some descriptions say it does and others say you need to pay. If it doesn't, how much is breakfast at the cattle station?
