- 524yang0 contributionsAmazing Tour with Incredible Wildlife and Photos!I had an unforgettable experience on this tour! Seeing flying foxes up close was absolutely fascinating, and we even spotted some huge spiders along the way. Dave, the guide was very knowledgeable and had an amazing camera that captured unbelievable photos, which he kindly shared with me. It made the experience even more special! Since it was a windy day, on our way back, we stopped at Sydney Harbour National Park to feel the full power of the wind—it was such a thrilling experience! If you love wildlife and adventure, I highly recommend this tour.Written 27 January 2025
- ADRANAS30 contributionsUnique Experience !If you are short on time or just love seeing some unique wildlife, definitely take this tour while you are in Sydney. What a fun and unique experience. Dave is very knowledgeable about local wildlife. If you have a free day then add Dave’s Wild Wombat and kangaroo tour to your itinerary. You will not be disappointed.Written 16 January 2025
- 556reganm0 contributionsSee some beautiful bats and be back in time for lunchI had one day left in Sydney before flying home and had already done the full day on Dave's Wombat and Kangaroo tour - this was a lovely shorter trip to see flying foxes in their preserve park. Dave is a fun and knowledgeable guide and always makes you feel welcome. He even gave me a recommendation for some other little stops to make before I went home and they were spot on! I had a wonderful last day being spontaneous and booking this last minute. Please support this great local small business in Sydney, do both Dave's tours if you have the time.Written 21 December 2024
- trinea6350 contributionsAmazing views!Incredbile to see hundreds of flying foxes hanging in trees - and flying from tree to tree. Had never seen them before and it was really an amazing sight. Our second tour with Dave and he is an excellent guide. A tour that is easy accesible for everybody. Highly recommend it.Written 13 December 2024
- ruthrD1349WC0 contributionsA brilliant experience! This was a comparatively short but really enjoyable trip! The wonderful Dave had everything that you could need on the bus - water, snacks and crisps - and he gave us use of his binoculars and camera. The stars of the show, though, were most definitely the Flying Foxes and they did not disappoint. They hung in trees, they flew about, they made their noises - they were magical! It was difficult to watch them and take pictures but Dave took some amazing shots and sent them to us. We were also privileged to see a Kookaburra and a brush turkey, plus the ubiquitous ibis. After we were back on the bus, Dave very kindly offered to drop us off at Manly, so our day was extended to include a lovely walk to Shelly Beach. We can’t recommend this trip highly enough - it was fabulous.Written 22 November 2024
- RobinsonWoos0 contributionsTerrific Tour & GuideYes, we saw bats! Lots of them - adults & babies. They were flying & just hanging. Dave picked us up on time. The pickup location was easy to find & get to. His tour van was clean, comfortable, new looking, & had Wi-Fi. It was stocked w/ bottles of water, snacks, & fruits that were complimentary. He offered to make a bathroom stop on the way to the bats & on the trip back. It was a very short walk from the van to the bats. He had binoculars & a professional camera that he let us borrow. The pics taken with his camera were sent to us. I was amazed by how close we were to the bats & that there were so many of them. Dave led us on an easy walk to a paved nature trial where we saw more bats & birds. This was a great excursion. We booked Dave's Wombat & Kangaroo tour in 2019 & had a fabulous time, so we wanted to do another tour w/ Dave. On the way back to Sydney, some tour members wanted to be dropped off near the start of the Sydney Harbor Bridge because they wanted to walk across it. Dave was very accommodating & suggested they be dropped off on a street near the bridge that was lined w/ Jacarandas because it was scenic & they could walk along it & take pictures. We didn't want to be dropped off w/ them, but Dave stopped long enough so that we could get off the van, see the trees, & take pictures. Dave also offered to drop us off at our Disney cruise ship which was docked at White Bay - 20 minutes from the pickup/drop off location. We definitely appreciated that. Absolutely recommend this & all tours w/ Dave.Written 10 November 2024
- yaqattack0 contributionsA unique experience!!We truly enjoyed this experience!! I never knew flying foxes even existed and it was so fun seeing them!! It’s a quick tour, we also loved Dave’s Wild Wombat and Kangaroo tour!! His vast knowledge of all animals and easy going nature made both experiences the highlights of our trip!! Thank you Dave!!Written 8 November 2024
- TravelingTrish0 contributionsGreat tour! Amazing to see SO many huge wild bats up close! My husband and I throughly enjoyed both tours we took with Perfect Day Sydney. Dave the guide was fabulous: easy going, fun to chat with, very informative, and always willing to take our photos. His hobby is photography so all of his pictures were better than mine! The tour bus is new and comfortable and even has WiFi onboard. There were well-planned breaks throughout to stretch your legs and use the toilet. Plus Dave provides everything you might have forgotten: umbrellas, jackets, snacks, water, even has a few extra phone charging blocks! On the Wombat tour we spent an enjoyable 11 hours exploring the wilderness outside Sydney. The combination of nature walks, view points, waterfalls and wildlife made the time fly by! We not only saw the anticipated wombats and kangaroos but also some wallabies and many beautiful birds. The meals on the tour were also very good, served efficiently but not rushed. We were so pleased with this excursion that we booked another tour with Dave the following day. On our Flying Foxes tour, Dave drove us about 30mins from downtown Sydney to a small nature reserve area in the middle of a residential neighborhood. We watched 100s, maybe 1000s, of huge bats roosted in the trees, some even holding their babies! I was surprised how active the bats were. Some flying around, some interacting with each other- even in the middle of the day! Dave also offered a few fancy digital cameras to share for better viewing and closeup photos! Another super enjoyable adventure! I cannot recommend Perfect Day Sydney highly enough! Not only does it feel good to support his independent business but also Dave honestly provides a superior experience! These two tours were our favorite things we did in Sydney!Written 4 November 2024
- 920julym0 contributionsOutstanding Experience! Don’t miss out!!!What an amazing experience that you have to do with Perfect Day Sydney!! The company is soo accommodating for each person on the trip. Dave is very personal and professional. The bats were up close and within 4 meters! I would recommend this touring company as a top rated service.Written 21 October 2024
- rachelrP7224MX0 contributionsGreat bat experience with a great guide!Dave is a fantastic guide and knows the area very well! He has his own location he found for spotting the flying foxes "off the beaten path" that has them at a perfect safe distance for taking some wonderful photos!Written 8 October 2024
- Virda S0 contributionsA must see if you enjoy wildlife. Wonderful guide. Provided water snacks umbrella camera Would do it againIf you like wildlife. A must see. great guide he provided water snacks umbrellas cameras he also does the wombat/ kangaroo tourWritten 8 October 2024
- nilsbyte0 contributionsSo much fun to watch these cuties! The tour was really fun. Dave is a very cool guide, we immediately liked his style. We really were surprised where Dave took us to see the Flying Foxes. We had plenty of time to observe these cute creatures in their natural environment. If you want to make photos, I recommend bringing a good digital camera with at least 200 mm focal length to get close enough. Even if you don't bring a camera, Dave has cameras for you to use! Really great! Absolute recommendation for Dave and his Perfect Day Sydney tours.Written 6 October 2024

Dave is an awesome tour guide, a very accommodating host and knowledgeable guide. You get like a foot from wild wombats! The wombats are surprisingly comfortable around people which was great for photos. You also get close to kangaroos (way better seeing SO MANY out in the wild than at the zoo).
Dave shares information about the wildlife before and takes you to a couple local places to eat lunch and dinner and a few sightseeing spots before the big event with the wombats and kangaroos. We finished the night with a bit of stargazing on the way back to Sydney.
I definitely recommend this tour if you are staying in Sydney and want a closer encounter with wildlife and the outdoors in general. It included a dinner and small lunch, with a giant snack box on the bus, interesting facts throughout the tour with a couple sight seeing stops and stargazing, and you get to meet some cool people on the tour and have an engaging guide.

We booked this tour (very last minute) based on the reviews and itinerary and we were not disappointed. The tour was perfectly planned with many stops to take in views while still having ample time to do so. Dave was very knowledgeable and provided us will interesting commentary and fun facts along the way. It’s awesome to have a guide who is not only experienced, but also enthusiastic about sharing this unique slice of his home with the group that he was guiding. Two things really stood out for us — the effort that Dave puts in to get to know and have a personal conversation/connection with every party in the group and the spectacular finale — an evening being able to find, observe, and take pictures with the amazing wombats and kangaroos in the natural habitat! The experience exceeded our expectations and I would definitely recommended this to anyone looking for a unique way to spend a day while traveling through Sydney.

Mini van tour through national parks, stopping at the Robertson pie shop for lunch, and visiting magnificent waterfalls in the afternoon. Of course, the main attraction of seeing Kangaroos and Wombats in the wild, at dusk was fabulous, and followed by a lovely meal, before heading back. Dave, our guide, was excellent, and extremely organised - from contacting us the day before to confirm pick up time and place, to knowing the best places for views and photos. Such a well panned trip, providing drinks and snacks along the way - definitely recommend this trip.

The pick up instructions and communication were clear. There was no shortage of good snacks and comfort breaks. The scenery stops were magnificent and involved some walking, but no more than fifteen minutes at a time (in case you’re hoping for a trek or hike). In an often amusing way Dave shared his knowledge of the areas we visited and particularly of the kangaroos and wombats. He made considerable effort to make the trip enjoyable for everyone and really made a positive difference to the whole experience. I enjoyed the fact that it was a midday start as I’m not a morning person. I really would recommend the trip if you want to see some Australian wildlife and out of the way scenery without undertaking the driving and navigation yourself.

What an amazing experience our group of 6 from Canada had..The tour started around 12:30pm and finished just after 11pm. We’ve been on many tours, and our guide was very well prepared. He had drinks and snacks waiting for us, he was very informative and personable. Before we went to see the kangaroos and wombats, we were taken to see the beautiful scenery outside of Sydney. We stopped for pies which was included in the price we paid, and later for dinner which was also included. Then it was off to see the kangaroos and wombats, and we were able to get up close and took some amazing pictures and videos. At the end of out Perfect Day, he dropped off everyone at their hotels in Sydney.
The service was one of the best we’ve ever received on an excursion, and the value was amazing. I would highly recommend taking this tour if you are ever in Sydney. You won’t be disappointed.

Dave is a fantastic tour guide, and his family owns the company! He contacted us the day before to warn us that schools were on holiday, so more families were around the grounds we visit to see the kangaroos and wombats, which could scare them away. He offered us a free cancelation for a full refund, but I'm so happy I went on the tour anyway!
The scenery we saw was amazing, and Dave took the time to engage with each person on the tour. He also brought complimentary snacks, water, and other drinks, and gave each of us at the end of the tour a packet of Tim-Tams!
Despite traffic putting us behind (a truck got stuck on the one main road to the wombat area), Dave made sure we got up close and personal with the wombats and helped us each get a photo with one. There were indeed less kangaroos at the reserve we went to, so instead he drove us around to find some and get photos. And after dinner he took us stargazing and I saw the Milky Way for the first time with the naked eyes, which has always been a dream of mine!
I could go on for ages, but hopefully this review helps impress on you that you're missing out if you *don't* book this tour! I'm so glad I did. Thanks, Dave!

This is just brilliant! Dave is a wonderful person and a fabulous guide. The wombats were a super highlight along with Dave's knowledge about these adorable animals. He took amazing photos for everyone, which really added to the experience. The sunset where we saw the wombats and kangaroos was spectacular as well. Dave made sure that we had scenic stops all along the way so that we didn't spend any length of time sitting in the bus. The walks were easy, which was important with a large group with some younger and older people. He was very, very diligent about pointing out toilets and how long to the next toilet - again so, so important with a larger group. The bus was comfortable and Safe played nice music asking the way. All in all, just fabulous. A MUST do!

After a few weeks in Sydney, I was keen to see more of the national parks and wildlife outside the city, and I really wanted to see kangaroos in the wild. Not only did this tour deliver kangaroos, but also some cute wombats and breathtaking scenery!
Leaving from Sydney Central station was perfect for travellers without a car, and a great opportunity to see places that we wouldn't otherwise be able to reach. The tour started with some amazing scenery in the Southern Highlands - the well-named Sublime Point overlooking Wollongong, then two different national parks with waterfalls and a view that just about took my breath away! I thought the wildlife would be the highlight, but I have to say I was equally stunned by the landscapes on this tour.
We went to see the kangaroos and wombats at dusk when they come out, and everyone was delighted to see them! We even managed to get quite close to a big kangaroo male, and it was lovely to see the kangaroos hopping away into the bush.
This tour delivered everything I was hoping for and more - it's been the highlight of my time in Sydney, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in the outstanding wildlife and nature that Australia has to offer.

My favorite wombats, and wild ones at that?! When I found this tour, I jumped for joy and signed up immediately. It was a very popular tour, and when I looked at it a little later, there were no vacancies for our travel dates. Thank goodness!!
I joined the tour the day after I arrived in Sydney, so I went to see the wombats before seeing the Sydney Tower and Opera House...
Unfortunately, it was raining even though it was winter in Sydney, so I was a little disappointed. I wonder if the wombats and kangaroos will come out to see us?
There were 13 people on the tour, and everyone gathered 10 minutes before the meeting time and started right away. First, there was a self-introduction (in English), and I think it was quite nerve-wracking, except for those who are fluent in English. But it was okay! Everyone was kind, so I was relieved that they laughed and replied to my poor English. As other people have said in their reviews, Dave quickly remembered everyone's names, and sometimes called out to us loudly even on the bus.
We went to a scenic spot on the way and a delicious pie shop, and went to a suburban area from Sydney.... Dave sometimes asked very difficult quizzes on the bus... What? Is it because I don't understand English? I thought, but it turned out that all the Americans were having trouble with it too... It was pretty fun!
It was raining quite a bit when we arrived at the wombat spot...but it was okay! Dave had prepared a big umbrella and a down jacket for us. While we were wandering around freely for a while, they set up tents...and made fresh homemade hamburgers under the big tent. After enjoying delicious burgers and a few drinks, we all went looking for wombats...but we didn't have to look very hard to find wombats and kangaroos here and there.
We took turns having Dave take pictures for us, and we were very excited.
Everyone on the tour was very kind, including families, couples, mothers and daughters, and even people going alone.
After saying goodbye to the wombats, we had to go to the bathroom because we were heading back to Sydney...there was no electricity in the bathroom in the park, so it was pitch black!! I was frantically looking for my smartphone, but everyone lit me up with their smartphones from above the private room...thank you!! It was an unforgettable memory.
At the end, we were sent back to our hotels, shook hands with David, and said goodbye.
I think it would be more fun if you could speak English, but you can still enjoy it even if you can't speak English!
The tour includes everything from drinks and snacks to umbrellas, down jackets, and smartphone chargers. The music includes Japanese songs (I didn't know when Dave asked me if I knew it, but when I heard the chorus I knew it! It's quite a new song, isn't it?) and nostalgic songs, and I think Dave prepared these with the participants in mind. Thank you to everyone who traveled with David, who is full of hospitality! I can confidently recommend this to Japanese people as well.
At the zoo later, the wombat was in a deep sleep and I could only see its back.

We choose this tour primarily to see wombats and kangaroos in the wild (versus a zoo)--and it did not disappoint. We went to a public park area nearing dusk and saw dozens of kangaroos and wombats coming out and eating. Dave was careful to ensure we did not stress the animals while also getting us relatively close to them.
Given the location of the kangaroos and wombats in relation to Sydney, there was a lot of time in the car. But Dave scheduled things to break up the time (especially on the way down), including scenic spots (including 2 impressive waterfalls) and a lunch stop for meat pies. And on the way back to Sydney, the skies were clear so Dave made an impromptu stop for some star gazing, which was an unexpected but enjoyable stop.

The tour guide/tour operator is accommodating and responsive. I'm sure if you gave the dates you'll be in Sydney, he'd be able to work with you. It was one of the best things we did while in Australia.

Hi Dave,
My family of 4 is booked for your tour later in Nov. and we're so excited! Awesome reviews from others... QQ: we will be in Sydney for roughly 5 days. We are also considering a day trip to the Blue Mountains but I know that's also a full day tour and I believe it includes visits to waterfalls/rain forest too. We have 2 kids and I don't want to burn them out with too much van travel... In your opinion, are sights on a Blue Mountain tour somewhat redundant to what we'll experience with you - or would you encourage us to do both tours?
Thanks in advance for any insight!
Shelley

Both are big days as the location are a long way from central Sydney. A lot of my guest do both tours. You would need a lay day in between for sure. If you do a tour to blue Mountains with Featherdale zoo you can feed kangaroos and get your photos with a koala (none left in the wild in Sydney). Scenic world is great also.
The rock formations will be almost the same blue Mountains has bigger views. Waterfalls are better in the southern highlands. Rainforest will be the same. If your’ve got spare money I’d do both if you’re stretching it just do Walking with Wombats. If you’re in town on a Sunday you can take the train for $2.80 to the blue Mountains return. Any other day it’s $13 return.

What time does the tour depart and return on 1/23/20 or 1/24/20? I’m not seeing those details on TripAdvisor? Thanks.

I can see now that on 1/23 it departs at 11:30.
