Start your full-day tour with pickup from hotels in downtown Cancun and the Hotel Zone. En route to Chichen Itza, you'll make a stop at the Real Mayab Hotel, located in Valladolid. Relax with a stroll through the lush gardens, browse arts and crafts at the gift shop, and find tranquility in the meditation zone or a traditional temazcal (Maya sweat lodge). Lunch is served in the on-site restaurant featuring Maya cuisine and authentic Yucatecan gastronomy like cochinita pibil (savory pork slow-roasted in banana leaves).
Then it's onward to the restored archaeological ruins of Chichen Itza for a guided tour. Walk to monumental structures such as the Pyramid of Kukulcan, aka El Castillo (The Castle), and learn about the significance of the ancient Maya architecture.
Afterward, take a refreshing dip at Ik Kil, a popular cenote located about 1 mile (3 km) away. The perfectly circular open sinkhole boasts a width of 196 feet (60 meters) and a depth of about 130 feet (40 meters), making it one of the largest cenotes on the Yucatán Peninsula.
The colonial town of Valladolid is the last stop on your tour. Visit the 16th-century cathedral rebuilt in 1703, before returning to your Cancun hotel.
