- Shikha G0 contributionsExploring Panjim: A Journey Through History, Culture, and CuisineWe delved into the rich history, culture, and cuisine of Panjim, guided by our knowledgeable ambassador, Adolfina, who comes from a fascinating lineage. As we strolled through streets adorned with colorfully painted houses, passed a charming post office, and admired a beautiful chapel, we were treated to freshly baked snacks and a refreshing local drink at Confeitaria 31 De Janeiro bakery. The walk concluded with a fascinating guided tour of a historic Goan-Portuguese house, featuring incredible artifacts and a warm, welcoming host.Written 18 January 2025

- Meander163470280610 contributions"An Enriching Journey Through Goa’s Living Heritage"The walk delved deep into the true history of Goa, exploring every important element of its heritage, culture, and traditions. The highlight of the experience was our incredible guide, Adolf. She is nothing less than a legend and a living heritage herself! Her passion, deep knowledge, and personal connections to the history of the area made the tour incredibly enriching. It felt like a blessing to have her lead us through this journey. Another standout moment was visiting a very old Portuguese house. It was an absolute privilege to step inside such a well-preserved piece of history and engage with the gracious owner. This walk isn’t just about sightseeing; it’s about truly immersing yourself in Goa’s rich past and vibrant culture. I highly recommend this experience with Soul Travelling to anyone who wants to explore the authentic essence of Goa."Written 17 January 2025

We met Mayuresh from Soul Traveling early in the morning at 06:15 at the jetty. He led us to the Mandovi river to start our Experience on the boat. We spent about an hour watching and learning about the rich eco system of the mangrove. Saw at least 10 different species of birds. We also wanted to see the crocodiles but it was the high tide so we did not get to see the crocs. After watching the beautiful sunrise from the boat, we made our way to a local breakfast shop to try some Goan breakfast. After eating our hearts out we made our way first to a temple and then to a church. Both beautiful in their own way. Our trip ended with a feni tasting session at a local tavern. The patrons of the tavern were very welcoming and drunk.
What we loved?
1. The punctuality and professionality of our guide Mayuresh. Also his photography skills are pretty great if you want a picture of yourself.
2. The boat ride with Uday, his knowledge about the river and it’s ecosystem is unparalleled. The views of the sunrise from the boat was an experience in itself.
3. The Introduction to local Breakfast was amazing and now even though we are staying in Anjuna, we have found a local joint providing similar food 😁
4. The local Tavern and its yumm Masala Feni.
Some tips
1. Try and match your boat ride in such a way that there is low tide and the sun has been out for sometime. It’s your best bet to see the crocs.
2. The Masala Feni at the local tavern is yumm but it’s really potent. If you have to drive back, make sure you don’t ask for a refill!
3. If you are driving down and want to avoid the boat ride, you can drive directly from North Goa to Charao islands without having to use the ferry.
We highly recommend this tour to everyone as it has elements of nature and local culture mixed in one.

This was my 5th trip in Goa in last 10 years. I was always told by some of my goan friends that I should explore countryside and islands to experience breathtaking and amazing side of Goa. I was lucky to come across Soul Travelling as it precisely caters to what I was looking for. My guide was Leroy and he was exceptional in every aspect - engaging, passionate, accommodating as per the health condition and needs of the tourist and ensured a great closure to the tour.
I would have certainly booked couple of other exciting tours, but my schedule did not allow - On my list for next trip to Goa.
Thank You Soul Travelling & Leroy for amazing experience.

Being a local from Goa I had never been to chorao island. On 23 February I attended the chorao island trail. The trail started at 7 am bob welcomed everyone at feri point and started the trail with Feri ride. Bird watching, boat ride, the Krishna Devki temple, the yoga institution and the satvik breakfast were the cherry on the cake. everything was amazing anyone doing chorao trail do ask for Bob

Visited the Island of Chorao on the 25th April and we were led by the very warm and lovely host Pratik. We departed from the Ribandar ferry to head towards the island at 7 AM and headed first to the temple of Lord Krishna and were given a brief insight into the importance of this island in the relationship of Lord Krishna and his biolgical mother Devki. We then headed towards the Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary for a boat ride through the mangroves and spotted several local and migratory birds and even managed to spot two crocodiles! Our next stop was at a local yoga training center for a lovely and hearty meal for breakfast which was situated at a hilltop and the view from the center was absolutely breathtaking! The next stop on the tour was at the St Bartholomew's Church which was built in the 15th century and its importance in regards to the Portuguese ruling of Goa. The last stop on our trip was at local Goan tavern hosted by a lovely lady for a very intimate tasting session of the famous Goan alcohol, Feni and Urrak. The entire tour from start to finish was absolutely brilliant and well planned out and wouldn’t have been possible without the expert guidance of the highly knowledgeable Pratik who made sure we were well looked after through out the tour! I would very highly recommend this tour, which is absolutely bang for the buck to anyone who is interested in getting a very raw and wonderful insight into the hidden gems of Goa!

Goa is beyond its beaches and cheap liquor and to experience it you must do this tour. After living almost three months here and getting saturated with the crowded beaches we were longing for off road exploration and something different when we can across this gem of an experience.
Believe me Goa itself is so pretty in monsoon that every road you take gives you spectacular views and humble happy people but the history of Goa is so blended and diverse you need ALOT of time to experience it. This tour is a small yet significant effort to show how less we know about it.
The whole experience from taking a ferry ride to an island to explore mangroves around spotting beautiful rare birds in a local boat was amazing. Our tour assistance was very well informed and made this experience super interactive. Also, we met amazing people on this tour completely different from us making it an interesting experience altogether.
We went forward with a spectacular breakfast and an even better view making you appreciate Goa's beauty a little more if that's even possible.
There's is a lot in these four hours we have learned and experienced that cannot be described in words. I'd recommend this tour to all who loves adventure and seek cultural knowledge about places that are stereotyped because of less exploration. We have experienced cultural tours like this in other parts of the world but I'm glad Soul trails are taking this initiative in India and I hope they grow changing the perspective of responsible and slow tourism in india.
Lots of luck to the team.
PS - if you ever come to Goa and taste feni sold commercially in green bottles, this will blow your mind as that is NOT feni. Try this tour for THAT.

Morning well spent!
This has been the best trail I have had so far. The itinerary was not only well-planned but also well-executed.
The travel ambassadors Pratik Joshi and Bob Abreo were excellent at hosting us and were very attentive to our needs throughout the trip. The detailed information; weaved with their impeccable story-telling skills elevated the experience.
Kudos to the whole team of Soul Travelling for their innovative thinking and for translating it into memorable experiences.
I would recommend Soul Travelling trails to anyone who wishes to explore Goa beyond the conventional Guide book ways.
I am surely coming for more!

We booked this trip via our hotel, but also due to our hotel's tardiness we arrived 1.5 hours late to it. Still our tour guide Mr Karan Koonan accommodated us and took us through each item on the itinerary even after our severe lateness. Where other guides would have thrown up their hands and denied liability, he chose to bend over backwards for our sake even when he or his agency Soul Travelling was not at fault in the least. This is the kind of hospitality you can only receive from people and agencies that genuinely care about their customers.
Now of the tour, it was amazing. The island of Chorao has it all, a mangrove forest, a bird sanctuary (Salim Ali), farmland, hiking trails and even a town. It is huge and diverse and Soul Travelling has curated a thorough yet pleasant tour of this island. Nowhere did we feel rushed or unsatisfied, the pace was easy-going and Mr Koonan being the accommodating guy he is, conducted the tour at our preferred pace. In the meantime he regaled us with deeply researched facts about the area in a fun and engaging way. His way of telling stories of this magnificent place is so enthralling I felt like clapping every time he finished, as every good performance deserves.
My favourite parts of the tour were the boat ride through the mangroves, the hike through a cashew plantation, and the feni cocktail tasting we had at the end. Do not miss out on this gem of a place, it was one of the highlights of our stay in Goa.

My husband and I visited the island of Chorao trail, which was organised by Soul traveling. This was our third visit to Goa but our first experience of an island visit. We loved the experience!
The outing included a ferry ride from old Goa to the Chorao island, authentic Goan breakfast, temple visit, cashew plantation, seminary and church visit, a beautiful boat ride in the mangroves for bird watching, and finally authentic fenny tasting. The highlight of the trail was the bird watching where we were lucky enough to spot a crocodile resting amidst the mangroves as well. Our guide Binita (Bini) from soul traveling, ensured that the entire experience was smooth. The entire group was captivated by her storytelling on the historical background of each spot along the trail. At the end of the outing we got beautiful Goan postcards as souvenirs.
We had a wonderful time with the entire group on the hike. We would love to cover more of these activities on our next trip to Goa.

Is there any walking involved ? Is it senior citizen friendly ?
Written 9 January 2023
Yes, but comfortable. Some of us were on two wheelers and a senior lady was with her son in a car. She managed easily. Just one place it was an uphill climb but not a very long distance and neither was it very steep. Hope this helps.
Written 10 January 2023
You can take your vehicle along throughout the trail, ferry is the mode of transport to enter & disembark from the island. Within the island you can travel using your personal vehicle.
