- parths9250 contributionsAmazing experience with Soul Travelling. My tour guide, Adlofina from Soul Travelling, was amazing! Her historical knowledge of the sites was impressive, and she made the experience both informative and fun. I had a fantastic time exploring Goa with her. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about the rich history of this beautiful place!Written 8 February 2025
- kanand20200 contributionsEnriching experience in Goa’s Latin Quartersleft India 47 years ago with the perception that Goa was all about the seaside/beaches. This tour humbled me and Bob introduced me to Goa’s rich past, vibrant culture and tradition. This was only made possible by Bob who shared his knowledge and love for Goa in an engaging way. Joshua his assistant was with us ensuring that we stayed safe, together and took our group photos which I would love to see. My husband and I thank the owner, Mr Andrade who as a true Indian host welcomed us graciously to his Casa. The tour concluded with us being treated to freshly baked snacks and a refreshing Kokum drink at Confeitaria 31 De Janeiro bakery. Will definitely use them again….we may make Goa our winter getaway from Canada.Written 6 February 2025

Decided to see the ‘unspoilt ‘ parts of Goa so chose a trip to Divar Island . Our guide from Soul Travelling was Omkar with whom we connected instantly . He is warm and welcoming and narrated the the myths in addition to the historical facts . The trip covered a church which was a lookout by the Portuguese for other colonialists, ancient temple escalations , a boat trip and yes - Feni tasting ! Many thanks to our boat navigator ( Amrut Kaka ) who explained the details of the river , the types of trees and also the wild life ( didn’t see any crocs ) . The Feni tasting quiz ( we had to guess the flavours ) was at Anil Kaka’s home and we had some lovely green chutney sandwiches and Goan cutlets .
And pulling it all together was Omkar - who was always cheerful and willing to show us the real Goa and how proud he was to be a Goan . ( This was appreciated as we are Goan too)
Kudos to Soul Travelling for their clear communication once we booked the trip .

Forget the crowded beaches and blaring music – if you're looking for a unique Goan adventure, then a guided trail on Divar Island is where it's at!
Our day started with a thrilling ferry ride across the Mandovi River. The scenery set the perfect tone for an offbeat exploration with our ambasador Karan. Divar Island itself is a breath of fresh air – lush greenery, quaint villages, and a peaceful vibe that washes away all your worries.
Our first stop was the Ruins of Saptha Koteshwar. Now, ruins can sometimes feel a bit…well, ruined. But Karan, our amazing guide, brought the whole place to life! He weaved tales of ancient temples, mysterious deities, and the island's rich history (connecting it all to Fenny :p ). It felt like those crumbling stones became a portal to the past, and I swear I goosebumps just thinking about the bygone eras.
We also visited Our Lady of Piety Church. This beautiful church, bathed in the warm Goan sunlight, was a sight to behold. Karan shared fascinating facts about its Portuguese architecture and the role it played in the island's cultural tapestry.
He explained a few legends associated with the Church, the Bell and the local beliefs.
Next was the boat tour through the Mandovi mangroves. Gliding through these emerald waterways, surrounded by the symphony of chirping birds and the water flow, it was pure magic. Karan with Amruth our Boat owner, pointed out all sorts of interesting flora and fauna – from towering trees with intricate root systems to shy creatures peeking out from the undergrowth. We even managed to identify a few elusive birds by their calls alone, and know a bit more about the mangroves and its ancient creatures( crocs: D).
We ended the trail while having wonderful snacks with a mesmerizing sunset backdrop.
The entire trail was a delightful mix of information and entertainment. Karan's knowledge of the island was phenomenal, but he also knew how to keep things light and engaging. He peppered the tour with funny anecdotes, local legends, and even a few jokes. The whole experience felt like an interactive treasure hunt, where we were constantly learning and discovering new things.
By the end of the day, I felt like I had truly experienced the soul of Divar Island. It wasn't just about sightseeing; it was about immersing yourself in the island's history, culture, and natural beauty. And a big part of that amazing experience was Karan. He is truly an ambassador to this hidden Goan paradise.
The best part of it all was how it could all be linked to Fenny and cashews. :D

We booked the divar exploration with soul travelling goa, having been to goa many times over the years, this trip to divar introduced me to a side of goa seldom seen elsewhere, even though the island is a mere 10 minutes away from the main panaji city, it feels like a different world altogether.
The island has its own rhythm and beat and the experience designed by soul travelling is well planned and executed and helps us understand the history of the place along with fun activities planned enroute.
Our guide Joshua was extremely professional, fun and educated about the history of the island and it's people. The group was also right size.Meeting with islanders and getting to know about their history and culture was an added bonus
Definitely recommend soul travelling, and looking forward to more tours with them in the future.
Cheers,
Husain Tinwala.

We visited the lovely Island of Dveepvattika or Divar -the only major Island in Goa not connected by road with Adolfina from Soul Travelling. She passionately explained the history of Divar, which was once home to famous temples of Goa, including the Temple of Saptkoteshwar, the family deity of the Kadambas. Adolfina explained the historical gems of the Island and the beautiful scenic landscapes along with it. We visited the Christian monuments and the ancient temple ruins and witnessed a beautiful sunset on a fun boat ride through the river. The expedition was completed with an integral part of the Goan culture- homemade Feni and yummy sandwiches. Thank you so much, Adolfina and Soul Travelling :)

The trail is very well planned, it’s easy to find all the details. The ambassadors are prompt. It’s a beautiful mix of landscape, nature, culture, unheard stories of Goa. The trail involves ferry ride, mangroves exploration, bird watching ( we saw crocodiles as well), surreal sunset, authentic home cooked food, fenny tasting. The trail was so interesting because Omkar, our ambassador guide took all efforts. He is humble, knowledgeable, resident of Goa. He is a storyteller, joins the Group members with his leadership. There are pop quizzes and loads of laughter. Had a best time in Goa. It’s a must experience.

A group of us who were attending the 53rd anniversary reunion of the St. Mary’s Mumbai high school went on the tour with Soul Travelers. We had a very enjoyable visit to Divar Island with our guide Joshua. He showed us some interesting areas of the island and related some of the historical facts that he seem to be a master of. Overall a very enjoyable day then I would highly recommend others take.

The stepped well temple restored between 2005 - 10 said to have been discovered after some boys' cricket ball disappeared down a 'well' is truly a hidden gem. The majestic Church of Our Lady of Piety with it's role in Portuguese military history is eye-opening. All this was brought alive by Omkar's narration.
We learnt about the various species of mangroves, birds and even spotted a crocodile amidst a surprise thunder shower in a boat ride with the knowledgeable Amrut dada on the Mandovi around Divar.
