      MUST EXPERIENCE
A walk through some legendary eateries and a masterchef type tasting experience. What more can someone want! I absolutely loved getting to know about the rich history behind what I was eating. Absolutely amazing, definitely recommend this to anyone travelling to Goa and who has shares my deep interest in food and it's history! Or just food too (everything is DELICIOUS). Adolfina and Priyanka were wonderful and warm. Packed with knowledge and energy, had the best time with these two!

      Tasty Experience!
Thanks to our superb guide Vaasti we had a really enjoyable and a VERY tasty tour of Panjim. Most importantly, this tour is set at a comfortable pace so you don't feel rushed when eating or drinking. A wide variety of foods are on offer including sweet and savoury - which are spread over around 5 different stops. However, it's not just about food, it's also a walking tour of the local area so it really is good value for money! Thank you Vaasti! Celia and David

      Not great
Tour guide Rajah was superb. The mangrove boat ride we loved and the breakfast at the yoga retreat delish. The hike to the seminary was overstated. The seminary was destroyed by Portuguese so 10 min hike up to a derelict chapel remainder is not worth it. The Feni tasting at 10 am was a bit early in the day so we had mocktails. There are way better temples to visit in Goa to be honest. Not a huge fan of this tour. They also need to clean up this island . Plastic everywhere.

      Great food
Loved the culinary experience but would do this during less hot months as it was lunchtime and temperature at its highest. This was at a spice farm but for spice tours I would recommend other larger farms in the Ponda area. If cooking and eating great food is your thing then this is your tour. Full hands on experience. Our tour guide Rajat was fab. Staff at Tato Gulagar v friendly and accommodating.

      Fontainhas is a fab area
My second walking tour of Fontainhas and second tour with Koonan who s a fountain of knowledge. I recommend combining the Latin Quarter tour with the Panjim foodie tour as it involves more stops and covers a bigger area. Highly recommend .

An awesome experience to make your own Pao
I joined the Pao making trip to a local bakery in Majorda. An outstanding experience to learn more about making Pao, the traditional Goan bread. And very special to make your own bread. This bread we used to make our own pizza in an famous Italian restaurant. Our ambassador Pankaj told us so many interesting things about Goa and the different kinds of Goan breads. Thanks a lot to Soul travelling to curate such interesting trips. A really awesome experience!

Wonderful boat ride around the chorao island
Our ambassador Mr. Rajat was a wonderful host. He explained us everything about the temple, church, history of the island. We finally got to know how is fenny made, we tasted it too. We had a Goan snack after a small trek. The most beautiful part was the boat ride through the mangrove, around the Island where we saw the birds in an undisturbed environment . Mr. Rajat made sure we saw the sunset. The ferry ride to and from the island was wonderful too. It surely is an unexplored area , not crowded at all. We would love to visit again. Next is the divar island trail on our next trip

      Amazing experience!
Immersive and insightful outlook at the cultural and historical perspective of Goa through the local community. Amazing trail to the feni distillery and lovely experience at the local tavern. Scrumptious local food and warm hospitality. The boat ride into the mangroves and on the Mandavi River at sunset is superb!

The Christian Art Trail at Old Goa with Priyanka Phadte
Priyanka weaved stories in and around the local history, architecture, and cultural migrations. She knows just the right timing and place for every story, reference, and to draw connections. Not a dull moment with these stories and so much beauty in the churches she took me to!

Best way to know Goan culture.
Me and my wife booked Margao Cultural Walk tour with Soul Travelling. It was truly an enriching experience in terms of culture, food and architecture of Margao. Our ambassador was Jade Barrett, who has a deep knowledge about Margao (and Goa) and its culture, food, heritage and Indo-Portuguese architecture. He ensured that we were comfortable during entire tour and explained everything with great enthusiasm. The entire tour was interactive and not just one sided explanation from Jade which made it even more engaging and interesting for us. In the end, he took our group for snacks which was a nice little Goan place and had some really delicious Goan snacks. Goa is not just about beaches, drinks and parties, it has a rich history and a great culture which we tourists tend to ignore. Hence, this cultural walk is highly recommended for those interested. In future, we would definitely like to go on other tours that they offer. Thanks Jade and Soul Travelling team.

As our energetic yet calm tour guide Alvina aptly put, mother Goa has two sons. One is the North, the cool partying dude everyone knows about. But as you get to know the laid back brother South, the other one just looks so shallow.

We went through a couple of the old houses in Chandor, the first recorded capital of Goa. In each, the owner of the house took us through them, showed us around the rooms, the stories and a few secrets as well. As soon as they were done our guide was back to take the show forward telling us more about the town Chandor, its layered history, rich local culture which is tapestried with multiple religion and kingdoms. Four hours passed in no time and it was such a fulfilling experience, getting to know the other Goa, or at least a part of it.

The partying dude will always be available, but give a chance to the shy guy as well. Belive me, the North remembers, and so does The Soul Travelling!

Alvina, thanks for all the stories and the ice cream too!😁

The Houses of Chandor tour commenced from Nossa Senhora de Belem Church in Chandor village, south Goa. It was a hot afternoon that day and any shade from the sun the church could offer would be outside, the church being closed. But once the walk began we were pretty much indoors anyway.

Just down the road is the Braganza house, a long balconied structure that overlooks the main road. We're here for a good half hour or more.

Ashley Braganza Pereira, a member of the ancestral family that occupy the part we toured, led the group around, pointing out chandeliers hanging from the ceilings, prints and photographs of past ancestors on the walls, furniture carved with initials of old great-great-grandfathers, floor tiles from Italy and Spain, dozens of curios….

I thought this was too much for one person to maintain.

The next old house we're led to belongs to the Fernandes family. Here we get another peek into the past that included a subterranean escape route concealed in a ladies walk-in closet. And in this house too were the long halls, ceilings heavy with chandeliers, love seats and the customary piano. An interesting side show was an old chest of drawers with secret compartments that Mr Fernandes was happy to demo for us.

It's apparent to a first time visitor to any of these old grand houses, that they'd need much more than TLC to keep them going, they'll need money. Heaps of it. It looks like so far they're on their own.

Tanish our guide from Soul Travelling did a splendid job of explaining the tour sights and answering our questions.

A fully offbeat experience from the regular commercial sightseeing. #Adron and team's "Soul Travelling" has provided us a very fulfilling experience thru' visits to Houses of Chandor. In the true sense the other side of Goa.

#Jagruth had literally taken us to the past by narrating history, Indo-Portuguese culture and people of Goa. We were pleasantly surprised meeting the 16th generation descendant of the royal Braganca family and having a tour of their house (450+ years old) and having a photo with him. Such humble personality!

Next spot was to a cursed city spot (Chandrapur and now Chandor) where all the action that lead to the curse happened at an ancient temple premises. Wow what a story.

Followed by visit to another royal family's house which was 800+ years old which was yet another fabulous experience.

Overall it would be a 3 hour trip with lip-smacking Goan snacks. All those who visit Goa (specially South Goa) must not miss this. Just go for it. #Jagruth (played for national hockey team and a state level player) was our guide. His passion for story-telling will certainly elevate the overall experience.

Our lil group was magically taken back in time by Frazer Andrade. He was the most informative and resourceful guide and we really could not have any a better experience. There was so so much to learn and take back from the experience with him- more so because he also elevated the experience with his banter interspersed with his own experiences. Highly recommend this walk if you want to learn a thing or two (or 100 :P) about the culture, history and traditions of the once capital of Goa, and about Christian art of all forms.

Highly recommend soul travelling and even more highly recommended having Frazer lead it :)
We had the best best time.

My first visit to Chandor turned out to be one that I will never forget and I owe it all to Zahur! He kept me entertained for three delightful hours and never ran out of informative fun facts. He walked me through a sublime melange of dynasties and narrated historical landmarks with a hint of delicious humour.
I look forward to discovering the rest of Goa with this diligent charming young man.
Zahur irrefutably puts the soul in soul travelling.

Had the most wonderful experience on the Curdi trail. The ambassadors worth mentioning were Panjaj, who regaled us with his stories, Jaden, who had all the specifics of the terrain na dother details, Jagrut, the curator par excellence of this unique trail in Curdi. And Cynthi, who co-ordinated it all. These are a bunch of raring to go, young people, so dedicated on their work of uncovering the little known aspects of Goa. They were mindful of the smallest details by way of comfort and constantly checking in on everyone. This aspect really didn't miss my eye. The trail itself is unique, with some very engaging people along the way...the breakfast stop at Flames run by Bina Fernandes was a lovely way to jump start the day. This wasn't my first time with Soul Travelling and certainly not the last. These guys are the true culture keepers of Goa. Kudos to them

A different Must Do activity in Goa with soul traveling. We enjoyed the experience.

We found about soul traveling through a leaflet placed at our hotel in South Goa.
Out of many planned tours, we picked up Chandor Village.
Zahur of soul traveling was quite responsive to our queries and adjusted the time as per our convenience.
We met a young guy named Tanish there at the beginning spot who took us to all the places in that walk for the next 2-3 hours. He is a law student who is doing this because of his passion about heritage and history. He was quite courteous, clear and knowledgeable about the history of the places visited and had good storytelling skills.
The 2 old houses we visited were amazing and we'll maintained by the owners.
Overall a wonderful experience. My 12 year old daughter also enjoyed it a lot.

Zahur, our amazing travel partner at this stage of our trip, made the whole experience a mesmerizing one. From engaging us and our kids to actually sharing the mystical details of Chandor, he made the entire experience come alive. While he was definitely well informed and added his personal flair to the stories he told us, he was also very accommodating and considerate of the fact that we were travelling with young kids. He indulged their whims, their natural inquisitiveness and managed to make it fun for them.

The houses we visited have a long history. Given all that they have witnessed, if only the walls could speak, there would be such enthralling stories to hear! However, in the absence of their loquaciousness, we were equally fascinated by the stories told by the current owners/caretakers of these gorgeous houses. Touching, inhaling and witnessing bits of history was truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Thanks Zahur for your patience, kindness and stories.

I was taken on a tour to explore the Houses of Goa in Chandor by Nandini. She explained me every part in detail and told me stories about the village, that I had never heard of. She helped me interact with the hosts of the houses. This was totally the highlight of my trip to Goa. I will surely recommend it to others and look forward to go on more such tour with Soul travelling.

We opted for the Soul Travelling tour towards the end of June '23.It was one of the best experiences we've had.

    Pros:
    1. The tour guides (Frazer and Jadon) were very knowledgeable and answered all the questions we had (we had 1000+ :D). They made history come alive. Their knowledge was not just limited to the tour but it covered so many other aspects.
    2. We visited the heritage houses and had unique insights about them giving us glimpses into the past.
    3. The Goa Rains
    4. The local food treat at Flames

    Cons:
    Absolutely none!

    Places visited:
    The Braganza house
    The Fernandas House
    The Chandor Church
    The St Tiago Chapel
    The Kadamba Temple
    The Flames cafe

I would recommend this tour if you truly want to learn more about Goa and it's glorious past.
