Ken is a wonderful guide, full of facts, humour and great stories which really bring the city to life. We all absolutely loved it and we were still talking about what we’d learnt for days after. We were a mixed bunch and Ken made sure he included and considered all members of our group. It’s amazing what you can find out in an hour in this beautiful historic city and we loved the hidden highlights just off the trodden path. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Ken!

Hello all from Cliff the Aussie, currently in Durham City U.K.
My wife and I are in Durham for a few months more before returning to Western Australia.
With some time to spare this morning after walking around the centre of the area we thought to go for a wander and find somewhere for coffee and lunch.
A short walk and we found
"The Neighbourhood at Hotel Indigo Durham". Open for breakfast and lunch
the place is just minutes walking distance from the thriving centre of Durham City.
Inside the decor is friendly and tidy with space to spare on the ground and upper levels.
The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch and the menu is substantial and realistically priced to cater for locals and travellers. The cakes were delicious and our meals were tasty. My wife recommends the Turkey Club Baguette and my breakfast wrap fed my healthy appetite with ease.
The staff went above and beyond to attend to our needs. They were efficient and super friendly and we look forward to seeing the team again next year.
Thanks for everything.
Cliff and Susan the Aussies.

My daughter and I met Ken in the market place and he very kindly waited while we grabbed some water. He had also pushed our tour back as it was so hot when we visited - this meant that we had a beautiful evening stroll. Ken was in touch with us beforehand to make sure that everything was clear and this was very much appreciated. The tour itself was extremely informative. Ken took us through Durham at a leisurely pace so that we traversed the historical streets gaining knowledge and a sense of the place as we wandered. We would never have been able to do this for ourselves. Ken has a very pleasant manner and we felt confident with him as well as entertained by his knowledge. I would thoroughly recommend this to visitors to the area and also to students wishing to find out more about their new home.

Ken did a walking tour for our mixed group of locals with a baby and out-of-towners with a teen. He was a reassuring and friendly guide who really knew his stuff. Ken took us to see hidden bits of the castle wall, shared great insights about the history of Durham, and gave us a great sense of what the buildings, city and area are all about. The tour was both entertaining and educational. He's highly recommended by all of us!

We eventually got to Durham after cancellations due to train strikes which Ken was very accommodating about.
We met at The Market Square and as the weather was against us Ken tailored our 2 hour tour to try and keep us dry.
Very interesting history of the Market Square and surrounds and then an interesting route to the cathedral which is stunning, Kens knowledge of the building and history was insightful and fascinating. We then left through the cloisters and made our way to the river where we parted company.
The tour enhanced our visit no end and we recommend him wholeheartedly.

We did the City tour, plus an add on Cathedral tour with Ken on a rainy day in March. Ken is a walking encyclopedia, full of knowledge about Durham'spast and the many fascinating features of the city's mighty cathedral. Durham Cathedral is a Norman building constructed between 1093 and 1133 in the Romanesque style to house the shrine of St. Cuthbert. Given the persistent showers, we were glad we added the extra time in the cathedral as Ken's commentary brought the building to life. If you love history and want to get immersed in local lore, go with Ken! As an added bonus, take the 300 plus steps up the claustrophobic stairway to the cathedral tower - the clouds lifted for us and the views were magnificent...

Time went past so quickly, Ken is so engaging and informative, a real gem to get an insight into the area and its history. Blue badge holder too. I would 100% recommend this tour, you cannot get this from a book, so don't waste your time, start your adventure with the knowledge that makes everything else you see fall into place. Excellence absolutely. Thank you Ken!

Ken was an excellent tour guide. He really knows his stuff. He was also very flexible, going where we requested. It was a private tour, but this was unexpected and we didn't pay a private tour fee. Ken also changed the start time from 1630 to 0800 to accommodate our schedule. He was one of the best and most knowledgeable tour guides we have ever experienced
