Overview
Dogsledding in the winter night can be a magical experience whether the moon or the green shimmer of Aurora Borealis lights the mountains.

Guided by headlamps and the dog’s nose we safely take you up into the mountains where hopefully the northern lights will dance for us. With a 2:1 guest to guide ratio, everyone will have a sled driven by our professional mushers.

With about one hour of dogsledding you also get to meet our 350 four legged friends up close and spend some time with the puppies. Our trained handlers will explain how we keep the dogs, the difference between a working dog and a pet, all about the Alaskan husky and more.

After the trip, we gather around the fire and serve our hearty meal of Bidos, prepared with reindeer meat, broth and vegetables to warm you up again (vegetarian meal available on request).

Highlights
  • Combine two quintessential Norwegian activities in a single evening tour
  • Convenient round-trip transportation from downtown Tromso
  • Enjoy a hearty traditional Norwegian dinner; vegetarian option available
What to Expect
Meet your guide and group in the evening at a central location in Tromso, where you'll board a comfortable bus for the ride to the countryside, about 30 minutes away. At the dog yard, get outfitted with a thermal suit and boots to fight off the Arctic air. After a brief introduction, an experienced musher takes you on a two-passenger ride into the Norwegian winter landscape. Listen to guide commentary and keep watch for the elusive Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). You’re in an ideal location to see them, far away from city light pollution. Learn about the mystery behind their appearance and what conditions make for the best viewing. Back at the yard, spend some time visiting with the pack of dogs, including puppies being trained for the trade. Then head inside for a dinner of traditional Norwegian food before heading back to town.

Absolutely one of the best experiences of my life! The dogs are well-taken care of, but they are WORKING dogs, so they aren't spoiled like pet dogs and live in dog houses. However, no fleas, shiny eyes, and a soft coat, so you know they are cared for. The dogs are also SO

The hosts were all really nice and you could see the dogs love them. There was plenty of time to visit the dogs, all very friendly. Dinner and atmosphere was good, and the northern lights came out during our ride... can't complain at all about that!

Was great seeing the Husky's, who were very well cared for and had a real bond with their handlers, and really enjoyed the sleigh ride. However, there was one point towards the end where the trail hadn't been carved out of the snow so the dogs really struggled and didn't really

Thank you for your feedback! We usually recommend our guests to bring a scarf that can be pulled over the face if necessary. Due to the weather conditions and the extreme snowfall during the last days, it was unfortunately very hard to keep the tracks clean at all times. But be assured that the dogs breaking the trails get an extra big portion of dinner for their hard work!

Not to be missed. We did it on purpose at night to get one more chance to watch the Arora and we made it. The trip with the dogs in the middle of the mountains, clear dark skies, stars a crescent moon and the final present a show of Northern Lights for 30 mins. Staff very
