- NoVATraveler7030 contributionsFun Tour of Vienna’s Christkindlmarkts! My husband and I are in Vienna to celebrate the holiday season and this tour was a perfect fit for our trip. We visited four markets across Vienna over the course of four hours. James was a wonderful guide full of information and enthusiasm about the markets and the city. At each market James selected a specialty food and drink to enjoy. We finished full of delicious Austrian food and happy with glühwein. If you’re in town for the Christmas markets, check out this fun and delicious tour!Written 6 December 2024
- EmilyPierson20170 contributionsWonderful wine, beautiful sceneryThis tour was amazing! Beautiful scenery and country, amazing wines and a great tour guide. James is so knowledgeable about the region, the wine, and has established great local connections. This was very much a private, small, local wine tour with the families who own the vineyards, that was very different from the more commercially driven tastings we’ve done in the past. He also translated everything from German to English for us. We had a wonderful time. 10/10.Written 2 December 2024
- NorthStar7775410 contributionsVenture Vienna Tour of Vienna Woods and wine countryThis was one of the great experiences of our trip. The weather was perfect, the vineyards were dressed in their beautiful fall colors, the hike was uphill in the beginning and then once into the vineyards, it was mostly level. James is a fantastic guide and checked the pace with us several times (we're old and able to keep up). James informed us about various sites and is well-informed about this area of Austria and its vineyards, winemakers, and regional wines. Topped off with a wonderful lunch and a private wine tasting at Weingut Biegler. We just enjoyed a Biegler Pinot Noir last night. Highly recommend that you book this tour.Written 1 December 2024
- N3720EMdanielw0 contributionsGreat Wine TourThe walk through the vineyards on the hillside was incredible. The personalized experience at the family winery was very enjoyable. We will remember this trip as one of the best!Written 15 October 2024
- sandiy20170 contributionsYou HAVE GOT TO take this tour of "New Vienna"!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS KAYAKE TOUR TO EVERYONE. We had a GREAT morning paddling around and learning about Vienna! The best part was it didn't just involve which building, old church or castle was built or destroyed by whomever . We saw "New Vienna" with its interesting buildings that have so much CURRENT relevance . And James gave us so much insight into Austria's current culture . It was worth every penny !Written 12 October 2024
- scottyherman0 contributionsBaden by foot and belly!Wonderful experience! Both the hike/scenery plus the amazing food and wine were well above expectations. First part was the hike through Baden and up to an observation tower were each view offered scenes of different landscapes and a few different countries. Climb was invigorating and James kept us motivated and moving forward...briskly at times :-) After the climb to the tower we walked down through the vineyard fields along a well marked path lined with the vintner's stands for sips and bites, tempting distractions for a quite a bit of trail. Last push was to a Church dating back to at least 1140 and the surrounding town where we had an amazing lunch sitting outside with the sun warming us and the food filling us. Good feelings inside and out! The Wine tasting completed the tour with both great wines to share and taste and time with the vintner himself to talk about his wines and the craft. Very generous with both his knowledge and wine pours, our trip ended with wonderful memories of a great experience. James as a guide was also very special. He made sure to engage directly with each of us, learning about us and sharing his own personal experiences. (which are really cool and much better being heard from him directly). James took personal responsibility for making sure we had a wonderful day and we hope to be able to share time with him again on our next visit.Written 29 September 2024
- NicolaB9960 contributionsA different perspective after all the stunning architectureThe perfect way to spend a hot, sunny morning after a couple of days in the city centre. James was a brilliant guide, great fun and incredibly informative and passionate about Vienna and the natural surroundings. Our teens 17 and 15 had a great time out on the water. Not too much paddling, about 5k in total, but it was flat as a pancake, with more breeze it would be more challenging. A swim stop was included but we chose to visit a nice lakeside cafe instead. Great communication throughout, thanks James for a super trip. A great tour for families, couples and singles, you made us all feel very welcome.Written 24 August 2024
- Goingtoandfro0 contributionsVery niceHi, My husband and I went on a private hiking wine tour with this small company. We found the guide really thoughtful and smart; he gave us many insights into the place and the culture. It was an unusually hot day, so he gave us the option to do part of the hike by bus, which we really appreciated. What we enjoyed even more was our conversation with a local winemaker, where we learned even more about the culture and enjoyed some of his delicious wines. A great day.Written 11 August 2024
- juniperaldous0 contributionsGreat way to cool down and get a different experience of the cityThis was an awesome way to spend our last day in Vienna. It was a hot one, and it was great to be on the water, get out of the center of the city and have a more “local” experience. James was awesome great guide and it since we were out of the main city the perspective of the area was focused less on the center of the town but more what Vienna is now, he also provided a host of ideas for other places to visit for everyone who was in town longer. If we had more time in the city we would have followed up on a few more, as it was we were pointed to a great lounge with the best view of the city right after we got off the water. Highly recommend.Written 22 July 2024
- jeannesU7672WN0 contributionsA Lovely Paddling Experience on the DanubeWe had a very enjoyable 2+ hours paddling around the lakes on the Danube. James was very informative about what we were seeing. Thoroughly recommended. There were opportunities for a swim if you wished.Written 3 July 2024
- N K0 contributionsUnique and fantastic slice of Viennese experienceFantastic experience! Must try if you want a taste of local Viennese life and learn some recent city history while enjoying the beautiful waters and people watching from your kayak. The Old Danube (Alte Donau) is a popular place for locals to hang out and for water recreation. Nikola was a fantastic guide and the kayaking is for everyone of all experience levels. Highly recommend!Written 29 June 2024
- beartrax790 contributionsWonderful Unique Tour from the WasserJames was a fun guide through the Kaiserwasser and around the Gänsehäufel island on the Danube. It was fun to get a tour of the nearby buildings from the water as well as a history of how the Danube has been managed throughout the years. Additionally, I really enjoyed jumping in for a swim along the way. We had a small strong group, and I'm sure some of your experiences on this tour will be affected by the speed of the other tour guests. Thank you James for the experience!!Written 24 June 2024
- OTCathy0 contributionsPerfect on a hot, sunny morning. This was a wonderful way to spend a hot, sunny morning. Nicola is a brilliant guide - interesting, informative and entertaining. The stop for a glorious river swim about 2/3 of the way around was most welcome. Thoroughly recommended, and we would definitely book on some of the other VV tours should we return to Vienna.Written 22 June 2024
