Wachau Valley Small-Group Tour and Wine Tasting from Vienna
From US$ 147.66
Overview
On this full-day, guided tour, travel with a small group to the Wachau Valley deep in the Austrian countryside. Relax and enjoy the scenery on the coach ride to UNESCO-listed Durnstein, where you can explore independently. Stop by one of the region’s legendary wine cellars for a tasting, and, in the summer months, make a Danube River crossing between Melk and Spitz.
What to Expect
Head to the departure point in central Vienna to meet your guide and group. Board a comfortable tour coach, and enjoy the scenery on your way to the Wachau Valley, Austria’s wine-making epicenter.

At Durnstein, a UNESCO-listed medieval town, your guide will tell you its history, give you an orientation, and then set you free to explore independently. Meet your group for lunch (at your own expense) in a local wine tavern, and then reboard the coach to head deeper into the valley. During summer, stop for a Danube River crossing between the villages of Melk and Spitz.

Once you reach Melk, visit a 1089 Benedictine abbey (entry included in winter tours) with panoramic views of the Danube. Stop at a small, local winery for a tasting, see one of the valley’s oldest churches, and then savor a relaxing ride back to your departure point.

We drove from Vienna to Wachau on 28th March 2018.....worst decision ever. Entirely our fault...WRONG TIMING. Should have waited for at least a month...felt like an idiot😀 All the greenery had vanished ..replaced with dried foliage. The town was like a Ghost town....not a single...More
