- Neerajsanghvi0 contributionsGreat trip to HallstattGreat trip and guide. The drive to Hallstatt is long but the guide shared a lot of facts about it, making it interesting along the way. The stoppages while coming and going are good too. There was a guided walking tour in Hallstatt and ample of time to explore the town by yourself. We had a great time and enjoyed it.Written 1 January 2025
- Maria V0 contributionsThe state of SaltA must visit tour you should get either in combination with the activities the place has to offer or just for the unique landscaping and the church We booked the one that included the sky walk, salt mines, and the cable cars with the panoramic view, although the guide we had was not very organised so we missed the ride with the cable cars since there were no tickets left by the time we got there, but we did took the liberty of arranging the boat ride on our own Book in advance your tickets Get comfortable shoes (boots if you visit during winter. It is very slippery in some parts) Do not try local snacks if you have the chance to get them in Vienna. They are cheaper and a lot tastier.Written 28 December 2024
- sarahrX4785GI0 contributionsVery badI use hop on hop off all the time but this was the worst experience I’ve ever experienced with them. To start off not one person came to talk to us when we came to the area to but the ticket. They were all too busy talking to each other. Second we asked when the bus ran and no one had an answer. So we got on the first bus that came, it wasn’t what we wanted but it got us to our first stop. There we spent over 45 minutes waiting and no bus should up. At this point we needed to go so now we are out 70 euros and have to walk to our next site. I reached out to Vienna site seeing and told them about this and that I would appreciate a refund but was denied because according to there records no bus was late. If you’re going or in Vienna use big bus company going forward, that bus passed by us about 4 times.Written 23 December 2024
- E1936WXjanetc0 contributionsWorst experience of hop on hop off bus in EuropeIf i could give this company no stars, i would. It doesnt even deserve the one star it got. My Daughter and I paid 70 euro for day tickets. The audio wasn't synced, and the driver didn't stop at some stops on the route. It wasn't hop on hop off. It was hop off and wait an hour for another bus to come along. We spent our day waiting for another bus instead of actually sight seeing! On Wednesday the 18/12/2024 at 10:30am a red bus pulled up and two employees who were selling / scanning tickets stood in the doorway of the bus, chatting to the driver and blocking us getting on, we were quite confused but waited to get on as we assumed they would turn and scan our tickets once they were ready, the next thing we knew the bus drove away, I asked one of the employees (brown hair in a pony tail, small and an unapproachable demeanor, I would assume she hates her job) who had been blocking the doorway was that driver not taking passengers and she aggressively snapped at me saying "why didnt you just get on??" in a loud voice. I then explained that her and her colleague were blocking the door and did not usher anyone on or scan tickets, she was extremely dismissive and hostile and rolled her eyes and walked away. Please save your time and money, I would not recommend this company. Its unprofessional, the staff are extremely rude and most of all you see nothing!!!!Written 18 December 2024
- legendhere0 contributionsThis Isn’t the BestNot really impressed. For the amount of money €30(!) I could have done more. I have never been to Vienna before and wanted to got a sense of the city, I usually take these hop on/hop off tours all over Europe. This one was the worst. The audio was not synced to the tour. The WiFi didn’t work. Then, on my blue line tour the driver pulled over and asked everyone to get out. He told us another bus was coming in five minutes and he was on break. Everyone disembarked, which meant waiting in the cold for the five minutes. I don’t know why he didn’t just tell us all to stay on the bus until the relief bus came. Then, unbeknownst to me, the tour bus turned to red. Without an announcement or informing us we were disembarking a blue line to join a red line. When we stopped at the Opera House, I went to get off thinking I’d catch a red lined the driver rudely informed me I was ALREADY on a red line. Then he played the audio saying red line bus five or six times to drive home the point during the tour, meaning we weren’t synced. Not impressed at all.Written 16 December 2024
- DCCountryBoy0 contributionsGreat ValueThis trip was a wonderful way to explore the Wachau Valley and countryside around Vienna. Our family found it an excellent use of time and money. The bus is comfortable and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, and fluent in English, French and Spanish. We enjoyed the stop in Durnstein before boarding the boat to Melk. The Wachau Valley was beautiful in the fall with spectacular scenery around every bend. We tour enables you to take the bus up to the Monastery, making the most of your time. Very professional driver and guide - well worth it!Written 18 November 2024

- F2187NWpeterd0 contributionsTerribleTerrible Travelling about 10 hours to spend 4 hours in a pretty but not remarkable place wandering around makes no sense. The guided tour of the town barely happened and the short boat ride and then bus back to the town was a waste of time. A terrible waste of a day when we could have spent the time better enjoying Vienna.Written 2 November 2024

- anns7430 contributionsNot worth the $The bus tours were disappointing. The representatives at the stops were rude and unfriendly. If you just use it as transportation it is ok, but not worth the ticket. They advertise free WiFi on board, when I told the rep it didn’t work, her response was oh well it broke. Skip it and use the trams.Written 14 October 2024
- MaxOregon0 contributionsYou either love or hate the hop on hop off experience, and this was no different than any other we’ve experienced. We have traveled all around Europe, and often use busses like this in cities where we don’t know a lot about them. As such, they provide a good service of providing an overview of a city with historical or practical commentary. Clearly, if we knew everywhere we wanted to go, mass transit would be a better and cheaper option. Also, there are very few of these busses we’ve been on where some of the audio ports didn’t work, or some employees viewing customers as eye-roll inducing ignoramuses (it’s not a great job for anyone). But they do provide an appreciated service, and this particular one was pretty much the same as we’ve experienced all over Europe. We did wonder what a tour in the summer might be like, because even in October with the sun shining through the all the glass on the top, the upper level became positively roasting, with no air conditioning and no way to open windows. My guess would be to try to find an open air bus in the summer and wear a hat and sunglasses.Written 13 October 2024
- DebzG860 contributionsA worthwhile day trip out of ViennaReally enjoyed this day trip. We started off by visiting the small town of Durnstein. Not much to it but we did enjoy trying (& subsequently buying!) some apricot liqueur. We then got the bus to Spitz, where we picked up the boat for a leisurely 90 minute cruise along the Danube. Thoroughly enjoyed this section of the day as we got a couple of drinks & sat on the top deck & enjoyed the views as we sailed along. We then arrived at Melk but we hadn't booked the Abbey tour. This meant we had a good 2 hours to relax and enjoy a nice lunch and also explore the town. We did visit the Abbey & got to see most of the outside as well as the Abbey shop where we purchased some wine! I would definitely recommend this tour if you've got the time when visiting Vienna.Written 30 September 2024

This was a lovely outing from Vienna. Bratislava is an hour away by coach or catamaran. Personally preferred to sail down the Danube river. You have WiFi on catamaran, can have a drink, there’s a good bar on it.
Bratislava is a nice, cosy city with interesting history. As for guides it’s hit and miss, depends what you’re interested in. You might be better exploring the city yourselves, taking a city tour with the Oldtimer City Tours on their old looking carriages that take you up to the castle. Check if the Castle is open on your day of visit. Also first Wednesday of the month the entrance is free.

The tour itinerary followed as advertised. Arriving in the city , a local guide will be with you at most 2 hrs , then the rest will be your own time. Since the catamaran trip back to Vienna is at 6:30pm you have enough time to roam discover tiny street around old town, and picturesque buildings. After sometimes the allocated time by your own is too much , might get bored waiting for the catamaran trip back to vienna .
Recommended a day trip to Bratislava.

The trip to Bratislava was okay but I can’t say it was great. Parts were enjoyed and parts were annoying.
Bratislava is only about 40 miles from Vienna and can be reached very easily by bus or train. I chose this tour rather than strike out on my own because I thought it would make my life easier. The initial bus ride, without a guide, from Vienna to Bratislava was uneventful. It drops you off under the main bridge wher two guides we’re waiting. The German speaking guide took about 6 people, the English speaking guide took about 20. He was young and pleasant but apparently lacked the awareness that one needs to speak up when talking to a large group. He took us on a walking tour of the old town that took about an hour and a half. I was surprised by how little evidence there was of the Soviet occupation and would have been interested in learning more about this period of time but the tour focused on older historical events which were interesting but limited.
Was surprised and some what irritated when at the end of the walking tour, he announced that we were on our own to explore Bratislava for the next 6 hours. Bratislava is not a large city, it was difficult to spend 6 hours exploring so we sat in a lot of parks and went to three different restaurant to kill time. It was at least two hours too long and I noticed a large number of people headed down to the river docks to arrange for an earlier boat back to Vienna which in retrospect seems like the best idea. The boat trip back was pleasant but it’s not a trip designed for the passenger to wonder around and enjoy the view as we were encouraged to stay seated at all times, except for when passengers went to the bar or the bathroom. Made for a very loud, rowdy group. Ride was comfortable but not what I was expecting.
Glad I made the trip but if I were to go back, which I doubt, I would choose a different tour.

What on earth were they thinking? This is a terribly organized trip, made into a full day tour (11.5 hours) in what, by any stretch of the imagination, should be a five hour round trip from Vienna AT MOST. The company had us meet the bus at 8:15 in the morning in order to arrive in Bratislava at 9;30. We were then given a very harried and uninteresting tour by a guide who seemed rushed and bored with what he does. The tour was over at 11. We were then told that we were supposed to kill more than 7 hours until the 6;30 p.m. ferry (which would board at about 6;10). The 4 p.m. ferry was not running at this time of year. And the only other ferry was at 2;30 p.m.
Bratislava is a charming and quaint city that is interesting to walk around for two hours at most, even including a stop for lunch. The old town is a small area. It's nice to look at the castle, but there really isn't anything to see there. I have absolutely no idea how this company expected us to spend over seven hours on our own, after the tour, walking around. We were twiddling our thumbs by 12;30, and determined to take the 2;30 ferry. Apparently, everyone else on the tour felt the same way, because every single person who had been on the tour bus in the morning, showed up early for the 2;30 ferry. Mind you, if it had been a busier time of year, we might not have been able to get onto this ferry since it is not what the company had reserved for us. In mid-September, it isn't a problem to get a spot on the boat; one does have to pay 10 Euros extra for the change fee.
When you make a full day tour out of what is really a half day tour, you waste people's travel time and energy. The meeting time for this tour should have been an hour later (at 9;15) to return on the 2;30 ferry. Or it could have been an afternoon tour to return on the 6;30 ferry. But absolutely not 11.5 hour day. And I am saying this as a very thorough and interested traveler.

A great experience. A must-visit city when in Vienna. My recommendation when you reach there is to take one of the city's bus tours to take you around the city to see what's outside the old town. Worth seeing the relatively new-born capital of Slovakia and see the city's other major landmarks like Presidential Palace, old churches, 1st Post office, etc...

Delightful daytrip!! Company was great with email communications and answering questions. Very honest!! On time pickup/collection from our hilton hotel. Comfortable bus trip to Bratislava. Interesting views of a windmill forest amongst the beautiful natural forests. Met promptly by English speaking guide. She gave very vital and detailed instructions for later collection of boat ticket and timing and location. Then she walked and informed us of important sights, history and the comical statues. About 2 hours. After which we walked along a lovely tree lined boulevard and enjoyed ice cream and saw more sights. After a sidewalk cafe lunch, we enjoyed a 12 wine tasting at Michalská. Followed by a lovely walk across the Danube and time on the UFO Observation Deck and restaurant. And finally, a most amazing catamaran return on the Danube. Left our assigned seats to sit up top deck!!! Enjoy.

We really enjoyed this but I would agree with other reviews that the time allotted is too long. Nevertheless we spent lots of time watching the world go by eating ice cream and eating snacks and sampling beer. Walking guide was very good. Be mindful of pick pockets - don’t wear back packs on your back containing valuables (this warning from our guide).

I will start off by saying that the bus ride was simple to find, comfortable and quick.
Our walking tour guide was fantastic. I'm so sorry I forget his name (perhaps Dima?) He was engaging and gave some amazing information as well as answered everyone's questions.
I will agree with everyone else that the remaining allotted time was too much. We were done everything we wanted to see by about 4pm.
Unfortunately, due to flooding and the Danube water level being so dangerous we had to return to Vienna by boat. Nothing the tour could have done about this.

Firstly, coach travel was comfortable and easy to find the guide etc.
Definitely worth visiting the city for a day trip and Bratislava itself was friendly, cheap and had some nice cultural highlights and great views!
The tour guide from this experience was awful, too many statistics and facts, no enthusiasm or engagement, she did not check to see if everyone was following and stopped at random points to share information not relevant to the setting. The tour was so bad, we left half way through to go and explore by ourselves.
The boat ride was overrated, it’s just like public transport and not a cruise at all.

I took a day trip from Bratislava to Vienna with a few stops along the way. My driver picked me up from my Airbnb and, after providing some background on my selected stops, delivered me safe and sound to my hotel in Vienna. My driver was courteous, polite and friendly. As a single female I was wary of driving such a way with an unknown male but I had no need for worry. My driver put me at ease and I had a wonderful tip. I opted to stop at Devin Castle, Carnuntum Roman Ruins and the Leichtenstein Castle. The whole drive with stops took about 5 hours but it was a lovely and affordable way to travel and sight see. I highly recommend MyDayTrip.

We booked our day trip to Bratislava by Vienna Sightseeing Tours. We did it online. Before I paid for it , I gave them the name of our hotel & asked them if we will be picked up from our hotel. They agreed to do so. A van came to pick us at 7am. & took us to where the coach was waiting at the Opera House. We took the bus & boat tour. So we went by bus to Bratislava & returned by the Twin City Liner. The boat leaves at 4pm. from Bratislava. We docked at Vienna at 6pm. We took a tram & returned to our hotel. They do not offer a drop off at the end of this tour. All communication was done by e-mail.
It was a wonderful low key visit to another European capital. We loved it.
