      Delicious Strudel.
We had amazing time and the class was very informative and hands on. When we had finished making the strudel and while it was cooking we made our cookies and then we had a small lunch. They even made a vegetarian soup for my daughter that she loved.

Recommend this as a great 2 hour escape from the walking and shopping in the Altstadt. And you’ll have recipes for home
The class moved at a good pace. The support and instruction was great and clear. The results were delicious! In addition, the atmosphere allowed for interaction with other attendees. You have an experience and cookbook for use at home to remember a bit of Salzburg.

      Strudel and cookies class
So much fun and a lovely way of experiencing some Austrian cuisine! Plus you get to try everything you make which is a bonus, and sitting down to lunch with everyone was very sweet. Loved getting to meet some new people and learn a couple of new recipes! Thank you!

      Ok
We attended the dinner class. It was very large as they mentioned that they had more than the norm. It made things a bit cramped. Instruction and food were fine. However, for sanitary reasons, I’m not a fan of eating food prepared by the other 15-20 people in the class. The dumplings portion was all combined and while we all washed our hands before class started, a coughing participant concerned me greatly. I understand that this may not worry others. The music provided was lovely.

What a great experience! The content, pace and results were all superb. The hosts were so patient and accommodating. It was fun to to do two dishes and enjoy a lunch while they baked. Beautifully arranged from start to finish.

      Cave cooking with a kick!
The team who taught our class was great-very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. And we got a bonus singing performance by one of them which was fantastic. We loved making all of the food and it was delicious to eat. Also the setting in a cave was so unique! Highly recommend this activity in Salzburg!

We enjoyed our experience on each of the two times we went. Both chefs were fun and helpful. The fabulous operatic singing during our meal was a highlight.

      Fun, interesting and delicious!
What a fun, educational and tasty time! We joined a dinner class at Edelweiss - it was well-organized and really fun. The fellow class members were all nice, and the Edelweiss team was fantastic. While the cooking was finishing, we were treated to an amazing mini-concert of operatic music and a bit of Sound-of-Music sing-along. Overall, it was a great addition to our visit to Salzburg.

Wonderful time, great explanations and definitely worth it.
This was a wonderful experience. Not only were the entire staff helpful and on top of everything, this also answered questions and provided feedback of techniques. It was a truly one of a kind experience. I recommend this for anyone interested in trying something a little different than the more “traditional” tours.

Fabulous and authentic experience! And Oh, the music!!
My adult son and I attended the dinner cooking school this past week while in Salzburg. We had a wonderful time! The class and instruction were top notch, and the opera singer who entertained us was world class. He was very personable and so talented! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Thank you for an awesome and memorable evening!

      Fun time
We loved the cooking experience! The only thing was you make the food and eat eachothers prepared food, this would have been better to eat the food you prepared with your hands...good to know ahead of time especially when taking picky eater kids like mine. But was a fun time and everyone was nice!

Fiancé and I booked this activity for mid morning one day in Salzburg. It was a small group as we visiting off-season, but Simone our instructor was fun and very informative. She taught us about the history of the dishes we were making as well as demonstrated how to make the apple strudel beforehand. Wine, beer, and other assorted drinks were available for a small extra cost during the course. The course was held in a small kitchen building into the hillside, very very cool environment!

For lunch we were given delicious goulash homemade by the owners of the cooking school. Afterwards we enjoyed the nockerl and strudel we had made ourselves (and took home our extra strudel). Well worth doing, it was a lovely experience and I look forward to trying to recreate these Austrian dishes at home!

The Austrian Apple Strudel baking course was the best money we spent while in Salzburg. The location was a short walk from the Altstadt; upon arrival, we washed our hands and watched a demonstration where our instructor made it look flawlessly easy. Then we broke out into our groups to make and bake our own strudel. Under their careful eye, we had a wonderful time creating our dessert. Once they went in the oven, we made the Salzburg Nockerl. Culminating our enjoyable experience, we enjoyed a hearty soup and both desserts that we made. I would highly recommend the experience to anybody with some free time in Salzburg.

This was a wonderful activity where I learned how to make an Apple strudel and Salzburg Knockerl that kept me out of the summer’s heat. The location was in a literal cavern in one of Salzburg’s mountain right in Old Town. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating! The instructor chef Selen, was full of historical and culinary knowledge. We were served homemade beef goulash that was to die for and they have the recipe in the recipe books they sell too! The strudels and Salzburg Knockerl we were taught to make came out fantastic and when a strudel is served warm the flakiness is astounding! I’d recommend this for anyone who wants to learn more about Austrian cuisine and also just to expand on their culinary abilities!

What an excellent Cooking School Johann has, such a characterful place, built into the rocks. We all thoroughly enjoyed the Apple Strudel and Austrian Nockerl Baking class and were super impressed with our efforts, yes it was all completely edible!!! Johann is such an affable guy and his instructions on how to make these two Austrian Classics was very clear and concise, we were very impressed with his ease at changing languages to allow all the group to understand his instructions. Great value for the session plus a tasty lunch (including our Strudel and Nockerl) Highly recommend this as an activity whilst in Salzburg

We loved this entire experience!!! We had a group of about 12-15 people. We were paired off and we each got to make our own apple strudel and souffle.
They gave us a nice beef stew that was delicious and offered us wine, beer or soda (at our cost). After the stew the desserts were ready and we got to eat them!!! Sooooooo delicious and amazing to know how to make them both! We will try our best to re-create them in our own kitchen when we get back home. The setting of the class was in a little nook in the side of a mountain which was a very interesting setting and added to the experience.
We LOVED this and give it an A+ !!!

I echo the other recent reviews. My family had a lot of fun making the strudel and Knockerl. The instructors (all speaking English) were friendly and easy to follow. They had done the perfect amount of prep work so we got to experience all the steps of making the strudel and still manage to get it done in the time allowed without feeling rushed. The only suggestion I have is that, since you get to take your leftover strudel home, ask them to cut you a _small_ piece. We couldn't finish the pieces we were given, and it would have been nice to take more with us. The goulash was good, too.

We had a great time at the apple strudel class. I love to bake but have always been a little intimidated by pastry dough, but the instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful, and she was really good at helping you if you mess up — which we did, actually, pretty badly, but thanks to her fix, our strudel still turned out great! The strudel doesn’t need to be refrigerated, so she wrapped it up and we took it with us, and we snacked on it while hiking all week.

You also get to make traditional Salzburg nockerl, which is a meringue-y soufflé-type dish with jam. That was also really good and fun to make.

They also serve lunch: actual homemade goulash. It was delicious, and it’s REALLY nice to get a break from restaurant food when you’re traveling.

You work in pairs, and if you’re solo, you get paired up with someone. Then you all sit down around a table and eat family-style. It’s a great way to meet fellow travelers if you’re interested in that (only a few people in my class were).

Oh, and the venue is easy to get to on foot from the old town, and it’s carved right into the side of the mountain. Very cool.

Definitely make some time for this if you’re in Salzburg!

We took a strudel-making class from Johann online and in person. Obviously the in-person version is better, but he's charming and helpful even virtually. He makes you feel like you really can bake and explains just enough about what you're preparing. Bonus: his assistant is a trained opera singer, who will surely grace stages soon enough! Making your own desert AND opera-quality serenade? What could be better?!

This was an amazing experience for our family. Our instructor, Johann, was awesome and we all had a great time. He made the strudel making process simple and fun. The strudel we made was delicious and we can’t wait to make it at home. The school is in a cave that has been used for centuries. We all had a very fun afternoon. Our youngest, an 18 year old boy, is sure he will be impressing his girlfriend with his strudel skills when back home.

We had an absolutely amazing time at the Apple Strudel cooking class. We made a strudel and a Salzburg nockerl. Johann was a brilliant chef, it was very well organised and the lentil soup we had for lunch was delicious, followed by a Nockerl and a slice of our strudel. And we had enough to take home for dessert. The school was really interesting, set into a cave. We have since made it at home and it came out wonderfully!
