We depart Tórshavn and head north to Vestmanna, from where the Vestmanna Birdcliffs Boat Tour sails. This Boat trip is 2 hours long and will sail you close to the exceptional Sea Cliffs and breeding grounds of numerous species of birds. The Captain of the Boat will deliver running commentary on what you see along the trip. After the return to Vestmanna we will have a spot of lunch on our scenic drive back to Tórshavn. We will stop at the village of Kvívík where we will see an old excavation of 2 viking longhouses. This will give you a small insight into what daily life was like in Viking times. From there we stop at the village Leynar, a picturesque small village, before driving over the old Mountain Road back to Tórshavn. Along the Mountain Road we will make a few phot stops along the way before the hiking begins. The hiking tour takes approx. 3 hours, and the difficulty is medium + and you will see spectacular landscapes along the way.

      Amazing!
It was a sunny day, and we took our chance to visit the beautiful Kallur lighthouse, which is located on the island of Kalsoy. I recommend not taking your car there. You have to take a ferry from Klaksvik to get to the island and only a few ferries go there each day. 12-13 cars fit in each ferry, which is a very small amount especially in high season, and you can't book the ferry beforehand. We had planned to go there by car and knew it would be hard to fit in. We were in line 40 minutes before the ferry departed, but there were too many cars in line already. Luckily we decided to leave our car in the harbor parking lot and got on the ferry without it, and therefore we could easily fit in. A convenient buss transport runs on the island of Kalsoy, so you don't really need a car. Just check the ferry timetable beforehand and check that there is a buss on the day you are planning to go!! Also bring food and water. We took the 9 am ferry on a Thursday (cost 30 DKK) from Klaksvik to Syđradalur (Kalsoy), which took about 15 mins. The buss was waiting for us by the ferry, and we took it to Trøllanes (about 25-min ride, with one stop in between, cost 20 DKK). The trail to the Kallur lighthouse starts from Trøllanes, which is where you arrive by buss or can park your car. It took us 55 min to walk up to the lighthouse and the terrain was moderate. Up by the lighthouse there are a few things to see. The views by lighthouse itself, the views from a viewpoint located on a narrow cliff, and the James Bond tombstone. You don't have to walk on any narrow cliffs to get to the lighthouse, but it is an additional thing you can do up there. This place is a must-see, and it is truly breathtaking! Our way down took 50 min. The trip from Trøllanes to the lighthouse and back took us a total of 3,5 h, since we took our time to walk in the different places up there and also had a picnic. We visited a small café in Trøllanes and took the buss to Syđradalur, where the ferry back to Klaksvik left at 15:10. The line of cars trying to get to the ferry back to Klaksvik was super long. 14 cars didn't fit in the ferry. This is why i recommend not taking the car. The people who took car had to visit the lighthouse super quick to try to fit in the ferry, but they still didn't make it. If you go without car you can always fit in. (There is also a lighthouse on the island Mykines with a similar path on a narrow trail, but the trail was closed 2022, so we didn't visit the island at all. Sometimes pictures of Mykines and Kallur are mixed.) The seal lady statue is located in Mikladalur, the village where the bus stops between Syđradalur and Trøllanes. We didn't stop there and therefore didn't see the statue, but some people did that. You just have to check the buss timetable to make sure you can do it.

Covid made them take money and ignore us
Booked in 2020 for a few days of yours (3 people) and promised vouchers to work in the future yet all communication has been ignored. Website domains changed, yet the guides are the same. Hundreds wasted and disappointed with the communication now that our trip has been rescheduled.

No trip to the Faroe Islands is complete without MM Tours
Part of the allure of the Faroe Islands is its people. Harry and Magnus are brothers who led the daily tours (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) and without a doubt, they are the reason MM Tours is a success. Besides the small tour size - there were 4, 7, and 12 (respectively) people on each tour - Harry and Magnus give insight, knowledge, and laughter that no tour book or self-guided trip can provide. One highlight of these tours is the unscripted and impromptu conversations the guests have with the guides. Yes, the basics are covered, but if you have an interest in a specific topic (education, infrastructure, politics), both guides can wax poetic. The bus has WiFi, but you shouldn’t have to connect to it since you want to listen and see every moment. The bus also stops at a lot of great photo opps, so don’t fret about taking photos through the bus windows. Lunch is served on each tour and is delicious. A sandwich (salmon and chicken), apple, muffin, and your choose of beverage. I went for the local Faroese beer which was a perfect compliment to the meal. #ProTip - wear legit hiking boots. Even if your tour doesn’t include a hike. With the weather being unpredictable, it’s important to have a solid shoe to walk through rain and mud. If (when) I come back with friends and/or family - I will be sure to book with MM Tours.

MM - the best choice on Faroe islands!
I had taken a few tours and all of them were absolutely great! I totally recommend choosing this company to get your visiting needs met! The day on Mykines and the Vestmanna bird cliffs tours were the highlight of my trip. All the guides are fenomenal and they make the journey one of a kind. They are fun and will go out of their way to make you feel great. When i'll be back (cause i will) will not spend one second thinking what company i should use.

Best way to see the Faroe Islands
We have made a tour through all the islands, where they took us to amazing places, that otherwise, we would not find. Besides we could learn about the history and culture of Faroe, which make it more special. And last but not least, Magnus and Harry show great motivation and passion for what they do. Thanks for an amazing trip!

      True experiences in Faroe islands
I visited Faroe Islands to enjoy outdoor activities and spent my birthday. What makes their tours special is, they offer extra and unique experiences for us! For example when we visited Mykines, we could spent time at local’s house which usually ordinal tourists cannot do, and that was the cutest house and interiors I have ever seen! Also Hurry and Magnus are experienced Faroese tour guides - they have knowledge about the place, culture and outdoor activities so I could count on them during my trekking and hiking. I’ve heard they are planning more tour plans in the future so very excited about it! I’d like to come back to Faroe Islands and definitely try other adventures with them! Thank you very much for making my birthday brilliant, Magnus and Hurry! Ai

      Couldn't ask for more!
I'm so glad to see M&M back! Magnus and Harry will treat you like royalty during this trip, providing background, history, and cultural importance of virtually every site you visit. There are plenty of opportunities to explore on your own or hike up some of the well-traveled trails into the mountains. Lunch and refreshments are provided. They are the best tour company in the Faroes!

      Amazing tour to hidden gems
The two brothers Magnus and Harry are the perfect duo for the ideal tour in the Faroe Islands. Typically I avoid going on tours when I travel because I don't want to be herded around on an impersonal tour with loads of strangers, however, this tour was quite the exception. Magnus and Harry were both entertaining and extremely knowledgeable about the history and the most beautiful places on the islands. I would have missed so much on this trip if I hadn't met them and joined their tour. I had the best time, and I HIGHLY recommend booking them on your trip to the stunning islands.

      Worth it!
So glad we went on this trip! You get to see many small villages and special places. We did not go on the hike, and I am glad we did not, because then we got to see Mykladalur and this was my favorite village. Our tour guide Jørgen was fantastic. No matter the question, he could answer them all! Everything from history to geology to sports and politics. We learned so much from him and the driving was very comfortable. Even though there are Islands, you only need to take the ferry once, due to tunnels and bridges. For my traveling companian who is scared of water, this was no problem. Highly recomend this tour.

      Brilliant guide
Absolutely the best tour we have had in a long time. We saw all the sights and our guide was extremely knowledgeable. he also gave us a lot of the island's history as well as current affairs.

Nature, history, folklore - this tour has it all!
This was an incredible tour around the northern most islands of the Faroes! Our guide was brilliant, knowledgeable, friendly and his love for his homeland evident in the way he talks about it with visitors. If you want to explore some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and learn about the history and legends of these islands, than this tour is the one of you! Was thoroughly exhausted by the end of the day, but had learnt and seen so much, it was fantastic! The ONLY reason I didn't give them 5 stars (or indeed, 6 or 7, the tour was worth it!) was due to a miscommunication about the start time of the tour that meant I was stood out in the changeable Faroese weather for over an hour... and this was after emailing them to confirm the time the week before. This being said, the tour itself was amazing and I will definitely travel with MM again, takk fyri!
