- JamesGreyv0 contributionsNEVER AGAIN - ARCTIC CIRCLE BUS TOURS -IcelandARCTIC CIRCLE BUS TOURS -Iceland We are currently on the #ArcticCircle bus to the glacier. It is SO cold on the bus that we are FREEZING… we might as well be walking in the minus 4 degrees snowstorm. The front door does not seal properly and the aft door does not seal properly. It is so bad that you can see the scenery in the gap between the door and the bus. To make it worse, the air conditioner is full blast on COLD. If I could swear profanities on TripAdvisor I would. This has got to be the most miserable journey of my life.Written 5 February 2025

He was flexible, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable throughout the trip. His driving skills made us feel safe, even with strong winds during our journey. V Ignor’s passion and professionalism truly enhanced my experience. This was my third visit to Iceland, and his dedication made it unforgettable. I highly recommend V Ignor for anyone looking to explore Iceland in a memorable way.Written 4 February 2025
- hlindsay440 contributionsMust-do tour of the stunning South Coast with Arctic Adventures! We did the South Coast tour and it was incredible, such beautiful scenery and sights. Our tour guide Thor was absolutely amazing - charming, funny with great stories and anecdotes and more importantly was a brilliant driver in horrendous conditions as a storm swept in. He looked after us well, adjusting the tour to make sure we could see all the sights before the weather got bad.Written 4 February 2025
- petrog7250 contributionsHappy travelers!January is definitely a challenging month in Iceland, and since we chose not to drive in the snow, we didn’t rent a car. We’re so glad we picked the 3-day tour for this trip. Our guide, Lili, was amazing. Despite the weather challenges, she stayed patient, kept us calm, and made sure we were safe while driving in the snow. Her driving skills made all the difference when we weren’t used to such conditions. Lili also had great stories to share and a fantastic music playlist! We were especially impressed by how she managed everything so smoothly, from handling the bad weather to the last minute rearranging of our ice cave experience. This trip will always be remembered. Thank you, Lili, for going above and beyond!Written 4 February 2025

- Jenna H0 contributionsTERRIBLE COMPANY. Do not use. They do not care about you or your experience, just your money. Way better companiesI want to start by saying our drivers were great and this is not a reflection on them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, there are so many better options out there. Arctic Adventures does NOT care about the guests or the experiences, only taking your money. This company needs some serious work and were atrocious to work with. A rip off and staff were terrible. First of all, we were booked on the Snowmobiling & Ice Cave tour on Saturday 2/1/25. On Friday 1/31/25, we got an email from Arctic Adventures saying it was cancelled due to weather and we can call to reschedule or for a refund. (We also talked to several guests who never received the email saying it was cancelled and waited in the cold for an hour, which is just unacceptable for a company). Our pickup location for the tour on 2/1 was in Skjol and we were staying the night of 1/31 into the morning of 2/1 in that area (specifically for this trip). When they cancelled our tour, we wanted to reschedule for Sunday 2/2 because it was our last day prior to departure. However, our Airbnb for 2/1 into 2/2 was in Reykjavik. I assumed it would be no big deal to change the pickup location. Staff confirmed they had room on the Reykjavik pickup location on 2/2 but we would have to pay the pickup fee for Reykjavik of $125 (additional to the almost $500 we already spent). When I asked to have this waived since the rescheduling was out of our control, staff on the phone got incredibly rude with me. I made the point that it wouldn’t cost them any additional money because they were picking up several other guests in Reykjavík. Staff then went on to repeat that it “wasn’t fair” that those guests had to pay the Reykjavík pickup fee and we didn’t and they shouldn’t have to “pay our share.” I don’t even know what that means. But regardless, I understand the weather was out of their control but if you are going to offer a rescheduling, you need to be accommodating. We planned our Airbnb locations based on this trip. It wouldn’t have cost them any additional money to pick us up (along with 10 other guests) in Reykjavík at the same bus stop. And again, we obviously were inconvenienced by this change of plans and it was not something we planned. We were desperate to go so we ended up paying the difference, much to my dismay. The tour itself felt very very very rushed. The guide said it would be an hour and it was nowhere near that. And that “hour” included the ice cave tour. So we were on the snowmobiles for less than 40 minutes. For a $600+ tour, you think they would give you the full time. Because even an hour seems like not enough time for that price. Since this was likely a once in a lifetime trip for most guests, you think that they would have been more accommodating. They provided no time to take photos or stop and enjoy the scenery. They told us not to take photos on the snowmobiles for safety reasons but even if you tried, you had to take your life in your own hands. It was such a struggle trying to get gloves off and not drop your phone. And then you couldn’t slow down because you had to keep up with the guide and not have the people behind you run into you. When we stopped at the ice cave, guides never offered any chances to take photos and the entire process felt rushed. I think for $600+, staff could have said something as simple as “we will stop once or twice on the way there and once or twice on the way back for you to take photos and take a moment to enjoy the scenery.” I don’t feel like I got even a second to look around and enjoy it, let alone photograph it. Just very obvious this company only cares about money and does not care about guests or the experiences. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, there are so many better options. And I don’t want to hear that they “don’t operate the tour” and it’s their “trusted tour partners” or whatever I see on all of their responses to bad reviews. First of all, the customer service at the beginning was your own company. Second of all, based on reviews I read, multiple people have complained about tours being rushed and clearly nothing has been done about it. And also you are responsible for the service that your supposedly “trusted” tour partners provide.Written 2 February 2025

- gillian d0 contributionsOur day of adventureWe booked the 12hr small tour to the golden circle then on to the secret lagoon . Our driver and guide was excellent I did not get her name ,she was very informative and her driving was good we felt safe at all times .The golden circle was fab although the falls were rather chilly wrap up well for that ,they had had a lot of snow which made everything amazing .The falls are an amazing sight to see .We were also at the guisers again spectacular. We stopped and had a chat with some Icelandic ponies again she was very knowledgeable as well. Then on to the secret lagoon ,if you are shy at all this is not for you it was hot but due to the steam you can't see anything but enjoyable none the less .later we were picked up for the northern lights unfortunately it was heavy snow and not even a star but we have no control over mother nature do we .A different driver at night and again felt safe even when snowing , He tried to go to places but not to be we had our hot chocolate and turned to come back .I can only say that we were looked after for our 12hr trip and came away feeling that we had an Artic adventure. The northern lights hopefully will be there the next time ,I will be going back as it is a beautiful breath taking country ❤️Written 2 February 2025

- peselinger0 contributionsSouth Coast AdventureOur guide, Thor, was excellent. Throughout our South Coast Adventure Day Tour, he told us all about the sites we were visiting and pointed out places where interesting historical events took place. He told great tales of elves, trolls, and the sagas as they related to the areas we were in. The weather worsened the further South we went and I appreciated that he adjusted the itinerary so we could see the glacier before the rain came. When the rain and wind did come, causing a 2-hr delay on our return, he calmed and assured all of us everything was okay and then told us how emergency services work in Iceland. We all got to enjoy another great bakery while we waited for roads to clear and he got us all back to town safely. We would be thrilled to have Thor as a guide in a future visit.Written 31 January 2025

Franklin our guide was incredible - friendly, funny and very knowledgeable! He filled our bus journey with stories and anecdotes about Iceland and its history which was excellent! He made the trip! The lava tunnel was great and well managed but wish it was slightly longer - another stop or two with some extra information as it was so interesting to be down there! All in all, a worthwhile trip and would recommend to anyone! I learnt a lotWritten 31 January 2025

I don't often take the time to write a review and I'm not a very picky person but I think it's important to let others know how this excursion is going at this time of year . On October 3, 2023 10 am, on a sunny day, we did the Crystal Ice Cave Tour with Arctic Adventures (this only included the cave and not the glacier walk). Since it is the beginning of the season and the weather is mild this year, the cave is still melting and it is only possible to access a very small part of the cave and not its entirety. Here's how the tour goes: you take a super jeep that brings you near the cave, take about 25-30 minutes and it's a bumpy ride on the bumpy road. Then you get out of the jeep and have to walk on a rocky path for 25-30 min. We follow the guide who sometimes walks very slowly to wait for the other groups to move forward (you should know that several companies go to the same small cave at the same time and follow one behind the other). After the walk, we enter the cave and wait another 10-15 minutes standing for the other groups to come out before being able to go to the bottom of the cave. At the bottom of the cave, you will have around 5 minutes to take photos in the slightly bluer part, it is quite expeditious, you will then be asked to leave to make way for the next group. Currently, the ice at the entrance to the cave can be seen as black and not blue. Only a very small part at the bottom of the cave has blue reflections which are better seen in a photo than with your eyes. It is not possible to go further into the cave at present because there is a river inside that has not yet frozen, so it is inaccessible. Perhaps a little further we could have seen better or seen a little more blue but currently this is not possible. Our expectations were high for this tour, especially seeing the photos but it's not like that currently, so it was disappointing. We even had the impression that it was a tourist trap and that we had been ripped off. If the cave isn't fully accessible, they shouldn't do this tour, especially at the price it costs but it's still a business. We paid over $450 Canadian for 2 people and this tour really wasn't worth that. Furthermore, our guide could have saved the tour but he was not at all enthusiastic. He gave us information but, clearly that day, he didn't want to be there and it showed. So, before taking this tour, clearly inform yourself about the conditions of the cave. I think this is a tour that is best done in the middle of winter and not in April or October, for example. If you are tight on budget and have to choose another tour, take the zodiac tour in Jökulsárlón lagoon, it is a very nice tour and your money will be better spent. If, on the other hand, you have the budget and want to do this tour anyway in April or October, enjoy every moment, appreciate with your eyes what you are going to observe even if it is little, it remains a unique place Nevertheless.

I recently went on an ice cave tour with Arctic Adventures earlier this month and while it was an interesting experience, the tour didn’t meet my expectations. First of all, the cave we visited was not the same as advertised on the website. I understand the original blue ice cave collapsed in August 2024, but there was no prior notice about the change in location. The alternative cave was much less impressive, with most of the areas lit by electric lights instead of the natural blue glow we were hoping for.
Additionally, the tour was supposed to be three hours as advertised on their website, but we only spent two hours in total, which included the round-trip car ride to the glacier. The tour itself felt rushed, and there wasn’t enough time to properly enjoy the cave or take photos, especially since my friends and I were traveling in a group of three.
So to conclude, the overall tour didn't match the expectations set by the website, and I left feeling disappointed. Given the false advertising and rushed nature of the tour, I wouldn't consider doing it again.

Dear Traveller,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we truly appreciate your comments as they help us improve.
On the tour page, we note that the ice caves are ever-changing natural phenomena, accessible only during winter when temperatures drop well below zero. This allows the water from the rivers running beneath the glacier to freeze, creating new caves each season. As a result, the cave we visit on any given tour is chosen based on current conditions and safety, and each year, new, unique caves are formed in different locations. While we aim to provide an exceptional experience, we cannot guarantee that the ice cave’s appearance will match specific photos. The look of the cave may vary depending on the season, time of day, lighting, and other natural factors. We understand this can be disappointing, and we will work on providing clearer communication to manage expectations around these variables.
Regarding the tour duration, we aim to provide an enjoyable and immersive experience, and we regret that you felt rushed. We will review the timing of our tours to ensure guests have ample opportunity to explore and enjoy the caves.
Please know that customer satisfaction is our top priority, and we genuinely regret any disappointment you experienced. We value your feedback, and we will use it to improve our services and prevent such issues from happening again.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at info@adventures.is. We are here to assist you and address any remaining issues.
We appreciate your understanding and hope to have the opportunity to restore your trust in our company.

We had a lot of trouble deciding which ice cave tour to do as we couldn't see a lot of up to date (or positive) reviews with actual feedback on the caves themselves. We therefore booked the one that most suited us for time and place etc and hoped for the best based on the older review. Let me tell you, I'm glad we booked this particular tour. We had a very comfortable and luxurious feeling superjeep. Our guide, Axel, was very funny and very informative. We had a great time chatting to him and he answered all of our questions.
The guide explained to us that they have access to a couple of caves, and the one they take you to depends on the weather conditions at the time. The day we went, was extremely windy, so there was only one cave saefly accessible to us. Unfortunately, this meant it was also the safest for most of the other groups visting at that time, so it was very busy and crowded. Despite this, the groups all operate on a first in first served manner, so we would wait outside for the group in front to finish before entering. This is a good system as it allows the smaller groups time to themselves and opportunities for photos etc without people absolutely everywhere, however it also means there is a bit of waiting time between seeing things. Axel kept us entertained with information about the glacier and the ice, and you're still in a moulin while waiting so it's still beautiful and interesting.
The caves themselves are now more of a series of moulins and a small cave, not like what's pictured in the guide photos. However, this isn't unexpected as the caves are completely up to mother nature and different every year. It's an overall really cool experience and we really enjoyed it. My partner and I would recommend this to anyone on the fence!

A group of us, 9 in total, had booked a visit. We started from Reykjavik in clear weather with no snow or ice. As we progressed the weather deteriorated and after some 2 hours we hit a blizzard with zero visibility and were turned back by the authorities as the road was blocked. It was impossible for us to continue and positively dangerous. When we contacted the company we were told that they were not responsible for the weather, which is stating the obvious, and they would not return our payment which was the best part of a £1000. They did not offer us an alternative date either. Considering that this was Iceland in January, such conditions are not unusual and I would have thought that basic good will and consideration would have been the least that we could have expected. This is a poor reflection on the venue and on Icelandic tourism. I would advise anyone to treat this company with caution as their policy is to fleece any potential customer. As a matter of principle I intend to contact the relevant Icelandic tourism authority.

We had booked a visit and paid in advance, having travelled from UK. Due to a blizzard causing the road to be closed by the authorities we could not get to the venue. Upon informing the company and asking for a rebate or credit we were told that they were not responsible for the weather. Bearing in mind that this is Iceland in January, I think this attitude is appalling. I would not recommend this company to anyone in view of their total lack of sympathy and consideration for circumstances. Customer care is nonexistent.

Our lead guide Fannar was awesome. He surprised our group with a new cave route that the other tours weren't doing that week. While the caves do change every season, what was different with this route was that since other tours weren't visiting it, we felt like we had the entire cave to ourselves. We even had the chance to walk across the glacier (which from my understanding wasn't initially part of the plan) and explore the area.
Honestly this was the hightlight of my trip to the south coast of Iceland. The caves are absolutely amazing and the top of the glacier is like you're on a different planet. For those who are hesitant about the hike: it's really easy (no hills), we are provided crampons and a helmet for safely walking on top of the ice and in the cave, we travelled at a very slow pace and the hike was really more like a 10-15min walk from the shuttle (which this is while we are already on top of the glacier so you don't feel like you are walking to get to the event - you are already exploring the landscape).
I want to again shoutout Fannar for he definitely has a lot of experience in this area and can answer any questions you may have. He's very passionate about making sure everyone has a great time and feels safe too. He provided a lot of insight into the how the landscape is formed and makes it very interactive (he cut into the glacier to show us the layers of ice and how clean it is below the surface). He also gave us a great recommendation for a dinner in Reykjavik (Tapas barinn) which was awesome.
Definitely would go again if given the chance!

Arctic Adventures had great communication as a storm was hitting the day of our tour. They let us know early in the morning and then worked with us to accommodate a different date and time.
The Tour guide and Jeep were awesome and lasted about 3 hours.
The hike to the ice cave was about 20 minutes and they provided the crampons, helmet and light. Relatively easy hike and the distance changes every year.
Bring your own water bottle - or there is a cafe at the meeting point with snacks and hot drinks.

Unable to attend due to road closure and severe weather. Company not helpful on the phone, no refund as less than 24 hours when road closed, stated vehicles and guides had already been arranged for us, understandable, but then told us that other people had booked on tour and would be able to get there as not needing to use the route we required. Tour obviously still going ahead and still would not refund even part of our payment. A lot of money as 9 of us booked.
Do not go through this company.

We had Bjork as our guide, and she is apparently one of the few female guides in the area. This was an excellent tour, and Bjork not only got us to the ice cave quickly and safely, but she also took a lot of time to explain things or to let people pose for personal photos with the ice.
The tour itself is utterly and stunningly awesome. Besides the Northern Lights, this is a can't miss tour. It starts out with a 30-minute ride across lava debris as well as anything uncovered as the glacier outlet pulls back. After the rides, there's a 30-minute walk to the glacier. It really is that blue, and you will be beneath / Inside a glacier.
Our particular tour was part of a two-day package from Arctic Adventures. Bjork handled this portion of the tour, and her calm but friendly exterior helps to make this tour better than all the other Iceland tours.

I felt unwell and lost consciousness, I lost a lot of blood and as a result I was very weak.
All this 4 hours before the excursion
I still went there and only my children went out
The person there told me that he would send an email to explain the situation and that I would be reimbursed.
Since I got back I have sent emails, but they don't want to know anything
It was necessary to notify 24 hours in advance
It's shameful and scandalous
I would have had to be dead to be reimbursed
It didn't cost them anything, it's still crazy not to refund, when it costs 230 euros and already quite disappointed not to have been able to do the excursion
So be careful, you don't have the right to have an accident before the excursion
