- FromMyWorldToYours0 contributionsAmazing guide and tour to PorvooFrom the second I got in touch with Mikhail, I knew this was going to be an amazing day. And it was. The words that come to mind when I think about my trip to Porvoo are interesting, delightful, and beyond amazing guide (who was also great company)....definitely a highlight of my time in Finland. Mikhail is a great guide who clearly knows a lot about Porvoo and its history. He's very interested in making sure his clients interests are met and that the tour fits what they're wanting. He has a gentle demeanour and you can tell he absolutely loves what he does. We walked all over the town, which is very picturesque, and it was truly a wonderful day in every regard!Written 3 November 2019

- Simon W0 contributionsFantastic Helsinki stopover tour tailored to my needsI had a six hour layover between flights, decided to explore the city and found Mikhail's company via a Google search. Mikhail listened carefully to my interests (Finnish design, wanting to eat like a local) and designed a four hour tour to meet my needs. He was so knowledgeable about Helsinki's history and I got so much from our short time together learning about the city and its culture. He picked me up at the airport and took the train with me down to the city, and then we walked through the different parts of the city. Mikhail explained the various architectural and design styles according to the different eras in Helsinki's history, and it was so nice to just walk and chat with a local who happened to know so much about Helsinki. As an added extra (being a late afternoon/evening tour), Mikhail booked us a table at a local Helsinki restaurant that did traditional Finnish dishes, as well as brought along a Karjalanpiirakka as a delicious snack! It also helped that we shared common interests as fellow zoologists, and I look forward to coming back in summer some time for a national park tour!Written 3 March 2018
- 383leonid0 contributionsGreat Helsinki Half-Day City TourOur great guide Mikhail has shown us the most significant historical, architectural, and cultural places in Helsinki. He spent with us more than half of the day, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. He gave us a very good overview of the city's past and present. We would definitely recommend this tour with Mikhail to our friends. Irina & Leonid Chicago, USAWritten 23 August 2016
- jnc50000 contributionsHalf Day National Park Tours from HelsinkiI went on two half day tours to the two parks outside of Helsinki. Mikhail was wonderful! I debated trying to explore the parks on my own and was so very glad I decided to go with him. I've done quite a bit of traveling but I really doubt I could have found those parks on my own. He was very friendly and informative. I brought my toddler along on the hikes and her was very patient with her. Definitely recommend one of his tours to escape the city for a bit!Written 22 May 2015
- Amanda R0 contributionsDay walk in NuuksioBeautiful and peaceful. Mikhail was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. An easy to moderate day walk through forest and past lakes. Wear good walking shoes. Highly recommend this walk if you want a day outside Helsinki.Written 24 September 2014
- Traveller B0 contributionsA wonderful adventureMikhail was a wonderful, friendly and thoughtful guide. After the short train and bus journey we were in the magical Nuuksio National Park. Every step offered a new sight, and always Mikhail had something interesting to explain. Why the bears roam to eat berries, which mushrooms were edible, which Japanese movie was filmed at this location. It was a beautiful day with a fantastic guide, I highly recommend it!Written 31 August 2014
- MI_Harry0 contributionsA great day near HelsinkiA highlight of our Baltic cruise was our stop in Helsinki. There my wife, I, and Bob, our travel friend, met our guide, Mikhail of GeoBio Traveller at the port. After a short trolley ride into town we went to a supermarket in for sausages and beer as provisions for our hike. Unfortunately Finnish law does not allow beer sales that early in the morning. But, we did get the sausages. After a train ride and then a short bus ride and we were ready to start our hike in the Nuuksio National Park. Mikhail lead us on a beautiful trail along many picturesque lakes. He pointed out many of the local plants. We took time to pick, and eat, blueberries growing along the trail. Towards the end of our hike we stopped at a grill shed overlooking one of the lakes. There we met some local campers who were enjoying a swim in the lake as their meal was cooking. Mikhail grilled our sausage and brewed tea (remember we couldn't get the beer). We had our sausages served with a local roll made using rice flower, which we also purchased in the morning, and the tea. BTW the tea was excellent and a very suitable substitute for the beer. After our meal we hiked back out of the park, bussed and trained back into Helsinki. Mikhail walked us around the town taking us to the local market were we enjoyed a sample of grilled salmon and reindeer meat balls. He also found us a local craft brewery were we got our beer and relaxation. That sure beat the canned beer we would have had on our hike. If your travels take you to Helsinki, I recommend minimizing seeing another historic church or other building and contacting Mikhail at GeoBio Traveller for an unforgettable day hike. He will of course take you to those historic sites too. One word, this is a bit strenuous. Use caution if you are not up to hiking and climbing stairs.Written 31 July 2014

We spent a few hours in the woods. This year there were no mosquitoes, but many blueberries - optimal conditions. Our guide Mikhail knows really well here and has also explained the mushrooms to us.

One of the highlights of my two week holiday. Mikhail was an amazing guide. Incredibly knowledgeable, informative, was patient with us taking lots of photographs. It was so special to be out in the forest in minus 24 degrees.
Highly recommend.

Nuuksio is a marvellous place, the surrounding beautiful nature makes you feel like you're in paradise. But it's so much better if you have Mikhail as your guide. We couldn't have had a better guide - he was absolutely brilliant, very informative, knowledgeable and polite. The tour was filled with breathtaking views which we would never find on our own, interesting facts and insights, and several fascinating activities like a typical Finnish outdoor BBQ, finding animal trails, picking mushrooms and berries and discovering the local flora and fauna. This trip to Nuuksio was a truly rewarding and memorable experience.

Enjoyed the fresh air, bird songs and the explanations of the trees & the natural surroundings. However, the price is expensive for this half day tour, and we had to pay for the train and bus fares on top of the excursion price.

Nuuksio National Park just outside Helsinki is a truly special, beautiful place, and my hike there with an outstanding guide, Mikhail, was one of the highlights of my two week winter trip to Finland. Mikhail was super friendly, highly knowledgeable, and really understood the park, nature, and provided lots of terrific insights and information about the trees, lakes, wildlife tracks we spotted, and proved more than willing to snap a few photos of me with my phone. The day I took my hike was made even more memorable due to the special conditions of the forest: lots of snow from the previous week covered everything, and I loved hiking in the sub zero weather. Sometimes the scenes looked like something out of an old Hollywood movie, they were so perfect. It was a wonderful, magical hike made even better with a great guide. Highly recommended.

We had a great hiking experience with Mikhail. He is very knowledgeable about the plans, birds, and geological history. Part of the trail was still covered with ice and he was so nice to lend us the spikes to put on our shoes, very well prepared. It was a wonderful experience, highly recommended!

When we planned our trip to (the wonderful city of) Helsinki, we decided that we'd like to see at least parts of the finnish nature aswell! Therefore we took part of this hiking adventure through the Nuuksion national park!
We went there in October, which might have been the best time possible since autumn had already done its work! All the leaves were shining in the brightest colors, which was absolutely breathtaking!
Our guide could answer every question we had and explained a lot himself, so we had an awesome insight into finnish nature and also culture.
I would definitely recommend booking this trip, especially if your trip to Finnland basically only consists of being in the city!

what is the usual time to pick up and drop off? We will be in Helsinki in early May for a few days. Just so I know if I have time to schedule something else either after or before the excursion. Is this a moderate or difficult trail? Do we need to pack a lunch and bring snack and water? Many thanks

Greetings! We will be in Helsinki for the day on July 5th, arriving by ship and we should be able to disembark at 8am. We visited a lovely national park last September on the boarder of Germany and the Czech Republic and were thrilled to be out of the city for a change. I like to get into the countryside whenever possible on big trips. Can we bring a few snacks for the day? Do you provide water? Does the trip cost include the public transport portion of the trip? Will athletic running shoes suffice for the hike? should we have light rain/wind breaker? Thank you! Paula Doherty
