- ellyxplores0 contributionsMemorable experience in Rovaniemi, LaplandMy colleague and I thoroughly enjoyed the Northern Lights photography hunting experience with Leo on 7 October. Leo captured beautiful photos. We were also treated to a light show spanning all colours of the spectrum. It was truly a memorable night beyond checking off a bucket list item. Beyond the Northern Lights tour, we also did the e-fatbike ride to reindeer farm, husky cart ride, sauna in the wilderness, Pyhä-Luosto National Park hike with Amethyst mining experience, Finnish Legends & Tales night, and a day trip to the Ranua Wildlife park. It was been an amazing experience going on tours with our guides (Hervé, Quintin, and Leo to name a few) who were very knowledgeable and passionate about the land and the outdoors. For someone who lives in a country at the equator, this experience was worth the cold, the dollars, and a very long travel up North. I would definitely recommend Nordic Odyssey for first-time travellers and those who prefer small group tours (:Written 12 October 2024
- LeahSydney010 contributionsFantasticExcellent experience with guide Leo - beautiful scenery, really knowledgeable, friendly and informative guide and great campfire cookout. I am really glad that we did this with Nordic Odyssey.Written 9 October 2024
- 233shawnaj0 contributionsAmazing tourExcellent tour. Everything was well organised and communicated, and our tour guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Despite the rain, the hike up to the mine was beautiful and there was shelter, hot coffee and a fire at the top. The mine itself was incredible, the staff were fun and enthusiastic, and of course mining for our own ameythsts! Due to the weather we didn't get much of a view, however this tour was still the highlight of our trip! Highly recommend.Written 29 September 2024
- meptravel0 contributionsAdventure in Finland not to be missedWe took a two day overnight e fat bike tour - visited a small local family reindeer farm and stayed overnight in a cabin on a lake. It was easily the highlight of our time in Finland. The mountain biking was definitely challenging- but can be adapted to meet anyone’s needs. Our guide took us off the beaten path which was resulted in an exciting adventure that we will remember for time to come. The reindeer farm visit felt authentic and we enjoyed our meal there. And the highlight of the trip was staying at the small rustic cabin on a lake with traditional sauna - which was a reward after a long day of biking. This is definitely an experience that we highly recommend! Nordic Odyssey took care of all details and supplies and our guide was great!Written 21 September 2024
- rosaliaw6890 contributionsStunning scenery and an experienced tour guideWe had not much experience in fire making and I learnt from this tour guide Herve. He was a very patient and an experienced tour guide. The wilderness was stunning in autumn and we felt refreshed after this hike. Highly recommended 👍👍👍Written 15 September 2024
- rosaliaw6890 contributionsBeautiful Northern lights experienceIt was the my best Northern lights experience so far. The tour guides were very experienced. The knowledge of Northern lights by this tour guide is immense. He explained the Northern lights phenomena with great details as so how it occurs. Well done! Will recommend to my friends and relatives. 5 starsWritten 15 September 2024
- 224declans0 contributionsFantastic informative guided trip getting to know nature in LaplandOur guide, Justine, was fantastic and answered all our questions we had about Finland (history, traditions, culture, animals, saunas, etc.) whilst driving us to all the locations. Starting with an excellent visit to a Reindeer farm (thank you Juho for sharing your experience as a reindeer farmer) where we got to feed them. Then a stop for a fire cooked lunch and tips on lighting/cooking. Next visit was to a dog sleigh team (Greenland Polar Dogs) and their passionate owners. Included cuddling puppies. Finishing the day in a bear hide where we saw 2 bears, both splashing in the water and eating the fish provided by the guides. We also watched some beautiful white tailed eagles swooping down and back into the trees. We had a great night's sleep in the hut (poor Justine had to listen to us both snoring all night!). In the morning we had a dip in a beautiful lake to clean ourselves (amazing!). We got to the wildlife park early enough to see a Polar Bear; Moose; Wolves; a Wolverine; Boar; Owls; Arctic Fox; and more. Nordic Odyssey were brilliant in their communications prior to and during the trip.Written 22 August 2024
- oliviergR1951MJ0 contributionsGreat experience during the fatbike trip to the reindeer farmRiding the electric fat bikes wasn't difficult at all, it was a perfect activity for the whole family. Despite the rain (it can happen), the atmosphere was fun and Chris, our guide, told us a lot of interesting stories about Finland, Lapland and the reindeers. The hosts in the farm were welcoming and we really liked taking a coffee and eating delicious home-made cinamon cookies while enjoying a warm birch fire, after a nice meeting with the reindeers! We highly recommand this activity to any English or French speaking group!Written 15 August 2024
- MelkorkaSig0 contributionsFun with reindeerThe bike trip to the farm was great. The surface of the road wasn't always smooth, but that was nothing the fatbikes couldn't handle. I had to stop during an incline once, because I hadn't lowered the gears enough, but after that I was just more careful about that, and all was well. We received a warm welcome at the reindeer farm, and feeding the reindeer was great. They were all over us, and not even remotely shy. At one point, I was feeding two at the same time. ^_^ The guide also told us a lot about the farm and reindeer farming in general, over coffee and berry juice. All in all, an enjoyable and informative trip that I would recommend to just about anyone. :DWritten 31 July 2024
- MelkorkaSig0 contributionsNice, relaxing hikeI'm not much of a hiker, but this was a pretty easy hike, with a slightly tough spot in the middle. They offer walking sticks, and I'm glad I accepted that offer, because I needed those. We walked at a good, relaxed pace, and our guide stopped along the way to show us some of the flora and fauna and give us a few survival tips. The path we chose led to a small tower where we could take in the scenery and watch the sun as it was about to set. Then, we got to sit down by a campfire and relax. All in all a wonderful, enjoyable hike through a beautiful forest.Written 31 July 2024
- MelkorkaSig0 contributionsCanoe funI was a little nervous about going canoing, because I'd never even held an oar before. Luckily, it is a great experience even for complete beginners, and we all had a ton of fun rowing along the river and taking in the sights. There were some minor mishaps along the way, but honestly they just added to the fun. ^_^ Martin, our guide, was very helpful and patient in showing everyone the best ways to row and steer. I recommend this trip to anyone who wants to experience Rovaniemi by water.Written 31 July 2024
- davidpN2626FI0 contributionsE-Fatbike Tour to Santa's villageAfter a great explanation we started the tour smoothly in the city with great insights of Rovaniemi. Afterwards we drove to Santas village and had a different way back. Many other great places were shown to us. Wonderful fatbikes, great tour guide, and super team. Would do it again at and time. Best, DavidWritten 11 July 2024
- arturoalejandrok0 contributionsAmazing Bear Watching ExperienceThis was an amazing experience! We were able to see 5 bears, including a mom with two young cubs, that were super cute!!! The whole trip was a great experience since we stopped at a reindeer farm and a dog (Greenland dogs) farm, and had a chance to hear at length what it takes to breed and train these animals. The bear watching experience is very safe, since you are inside a very well-built cabin and have great viewing windows. The bears come very close. The guides were very knowledgeable and shared a lot of info on bears and Finland in general.Written 1 July 2024
- W5044YDanitaa0 contributionsFantastic canoe trip to the reindeer farmMy husband and I booked a canoe trip to the reindeer farm with Nordic Odyssey. They picked us up from the hotel and after a short drive arrived at the location where the trip began. We were given a thorough safety demonstration and guidance on how to paddle and then we set off. When we arrived at the reindeer farm, we had a chance to feed them with lichen. The owner of the farm then took us to the house for a hot drink and biscuits and talked about the life on the reindeer farm. We learned a lot about the reindeer and the local way of living. After this we paddle back to our starting point. This excursion is highly recommended. The Nordic Odyssey guides were all very friendly and knowledgeable and we had a fantastic day - thank you for a memorable experience!Written 12 June 2024
