About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- suttond20160 contributionsFamily Snow mobile ExperienceOk, didn’t start off well the tour operator forgot to pick myself and family up from our hotel, quick phone call and they were there within 15 minutes. We were brought to their offices in central Rovaniemi where they kitted us all out in snow mobile clothes, suit , balaclava, helmet, socks and boots, then half an hour coach ride out into the country side, we shared a snow mobile and our son was in one of the sleighs behind the tour leads snow mobile, he loved it! It was a great experience, tour guide Rob was very good and great with the kids. After about 45 mins we stopped for some refreshments then back to base! The tour thru the country side/forest was really fun. There was a convoy of 12 snow mobiles in total. Would recommend the activity and the operator. Just to note anyone wanting a more adrenaline filled experience ie going really fast this particular tour is probably not for you. Beginner/intermediate snowmobiling this tour will suit including families with young kids. Would definitely do it again!Written 4 December 2024
- miaandmaggie0 contributionsFab little trip with great tour guides!Excellent trip. Picked up from our hotel on time. Our tour guides were lovely and we throughly enjoy this tour. Would highly recommend! Thanks you.Written 4 December 2024
- Kathryn D0 contributionsA great experience in beautiful surroundingsThis was a great taster that was still out in the wilderness in beautiful surroundings through the forest. Any little ones (who's feet can touch the rails on the snowmobile) go in a large sled and are towed by the guide. My son age 9 rode on the back with me and loved it. Hot juice, biscuits and photos half way round. 9am ride is in time for sunriseWritten 1 December 2024
- H1403XOtomm0 contributionsGood but not enough to justify the cost.Views of the forest and frozen lakes were lovely but sat in convoy most of the time going at very low speed.( just a bit quicker than walking pace) If you have a need for speed or adventure then don’t do this. The guides were all lovely and friendly but not worth £200 for my wife and I.Written 29 November 2024

- Voyage053404471380 contributionsGreat staff but not exactly thrillingThe Staff. We had a great day out with competent and friendly guides. The snow mobiles were fun and well maintained and our guides Boris and Christian gave excellent instruction and were attentive to any issues or questions that were raised. Well done Lads! The Trip. To be honest the speed was pretty slow and tedious due to many very slow group members and the size of the group was much to large, people can live without selfies and videos while riding also, this should be not allowed. Things we didn't like. I was very surprised there were no questions regarding experience or ability. My partner and I both have 30+ years experience each on dirt bikes and NZ Farm quads and also racing quads so we were gutted there wasn't a place we could open them up even for 10 mins The extra €40 for the extra insurance for my partner and I was a complete scam as it was very very unlikely we could do any damage at 10km/hr so don't waste your money on it. Now, gear. Guys you have to get this sorted, crappy thin mittens are not suitable for - 7°, we both had hot grips that only worked on one side so our hands froze the whole trip, as did our feet. The snow suit however was cosy and warm. Fun trip, not "high octane thrills" as advertised, more a very expensive scenic wander.Written 21 November 2024
- Jana J0 contributionsSlow and boring but at least it was expensive!Fun snowmobiles, and great staff, but riding was really slow and boring. We should’ve been split into groups based on experience as we were stuck behind people so slow and stopping for no reason that it really made it tedious. I overheard one of the guides saying the company doesn’t limit how many people can book a tour, so it’s a bit of a drag for the guides trying to organise waaaay too many people. Overpriced for what it was and paying an extra 40 Euro to reduce the insurance excess was a total rip off. We only went 10 kms an hour MAX for only a couple minutes at a time, so there was no chance of damaging the snowmobile. Also, the gear they give you is bad. My toes froze and would’ve been much better in my own expensive snow shoes they strongly suggested I leave behind. Also my hands froze from their awful mittens. Bring your own warm boots and mittens for sure! Wouldn’t recommend the tour unless you’re super slow and inexperienced… then it’s perfect for you.Written 21 November 2024
- 554millieg0 contributionsWow!This is one of the best things I have ever experienced, 100% recommend. Our guides, Ali and Tiia, were amazing. The floating was so relaxing and we were lucky to get a clear night with amazing northern lights, and shooting stars. The hot drinks and marshmallows were so delicious as well.Written 9 November 2024
- mikefJ333IY0 contributionsSnowmobile in LaplandWe went on the snow mobile tour yesterday. Edward our guide was fantastic. There wasn’t a lot of snow but Edward made the best of the situation. His fire lighting skills are also second to none ! I would definitely recommend this trip.Written 7 November 2024
- G5505RDvickyb0 contributionsTruly magical Northern Lights PicnicOur guide Frank was absolutely amazing, it was just my son and I and he made it such an enjoyable and worthwhile trip , we were lucky that it was only us, a couple from Italy & a family from France so a small group but we were provided so much information, the food and hot berry juice was delicious and seeing the Northern lights was out of this world, would highly recommend this particular tripWritten 1 November 2024
- Juelene D0 contributionsAmazing float under the Northern LightsOne of the best tours we have been on. We were lucky to see the Northern Lights and had so much fun floating around looking like Teletubbies. The staff were great and we especially enjoyed our time chatting to the guide from Finland. He answered so many questions about life as a young man in Finland. FascinatingWritten 28 October 2024
- peterobby0 contributionsWinter magicStayed in Haawe hotel which was lovely! Enjoyed a magical experience and had one of the best holidays ever. Gustafs restaurant was delightful and amazing food. Finland is unreal for gluten free people. EVERYTHING is gluten free. Only slightly disappointed at the fact that after I paid for the activities without using the Haawe hotel discount code with SAFARTICA that I was not able to avail of the discount but this is my fault so I can’t really complain. Out of this world experience for a winter holiday!Written 24 October 2024
- elialobsk0 contributionsNorthern lights in RovaniemiDefinitely an amazing experience! Our guide, Tiina was so kind and patient( thanks again💖) ! She told stories while the tour and took us to different nice spots to know better the area and of course see the northern lights 😀 The fire fox appeared in the sky and we could admire the beauty of that dance.Written 21 September 2024
- G601YSemmam0 contributionsBest trip everWe stayed at the Vaattunki Wilderness resort in the Panorama Huts which was lovely and warm. The staff were all soo kind and helpful. They helped us to book a taxi and kept us up to date on the status of the Northern lights. The food was made fresh every day and it was delicious. Every day you could choose between a meat, fish or vegetarian option with a selection of salads and soup. All the activities were arranged via Safartica. All the staff were also soo kind and helpful. There was a daily shuttle bus from the resort to Santa Claus village and the town centre. We did the snowmobile safari to the reindeer farm, which was fantastic. We also got to feed the reindeers. Everyone was also so knowledgeable. The husky safari was also a must do and you got to cuddle with the dogs afterwards. The northern lights search by snowshoes is a work-out and harder than we thought, but also a must do. On the last day we had the Lappish Kota diner and we never had better salmon than that. The food was traditionally cooked in a Kota and a must do for your last day in Rovaniemi, but do remember that there is no central heating so put your suit from Safartica on. It was also nice that you did not need to hand in the suit for every activity but we got to keep our suit for the week and could hand them in at the resort at the end of our trip. This was definitely a trip to remember and the staff made it extra special and made the experience even greater.Written 30 May 2024

We booked for a family of 8 people. Martin and Amelia were our Tour Guides who took us from Safartica Office by coach to Santa Claws Village (approximately 10 minutes), we arrived at 9:50am. We were advised to start queuing straight away to see Santa, as it can get very busy. We queued less than 20 mins and was greeted by a very happy Santa. No photography was allowed and we paid £35 for a glossy print. At 11:30am we met back up with Martin & Amelia and was taken to the rear of Santas village to a buffet restaurant. Food consisted of Pork, vegetables and cakes. Fizzy drinks and alcohol was to be purchased at bar, but squash, water, tea and coffee were free. We spent 45 minutes at restaurant before getting back on coach and returning to Safartica Office. We were given overalls, boots, socks, baklava, helmet and gloves and walked about 7 minutes to collect the Snowmobiles. Martin was very thorough and explained everything very clearly. Martin led the tour and we had an exhilarating ride along Finlands longest lake (frozen) which was amazing, we had a few stops along the way and was told not to worry about taking photos as there will be plenty of time on the way back. We reached the reindeer farm and what a treat this was. The reindeers seemed happy to carry two people through the trees on a 2/3 minute ride, but I noticed they ran a lot faster down hill due to the weight of the sledge pushing them. A Reindeer Herder sat us around an indoor fire shelter and blessed us with a knife to the back of the neck and black soot to the forehead. He told some pretty amazing stories about Finland and Reindeers. Following this we were taken for a hot beverage and cake where we were awarded our Reindeer Licences. Upon heading back to the Snowmobiles, we collected a toboggan to sled down the small hill. Amelia guided us back to Safartica Offices and the family was split up, some with Martin and some with Amelia. We were extremely disappointed as she stopped us going any faster than 25km unlike Martin who allowed us to go at a steady fast speed. We were unable to keep up with the our family in front who kept stopping to wait for us and to take photos as promised. Amelia failed to allow us to take any photos and for this I am only giving 2 stars. Amelia later explained that someone had died on the lake the week before and this is why she was slow.

Guides were friendly and well-organised but the group was reasonably large. For the morning part - Santa’s Village and the lunch - this wasn’t too problematic but in the afternoon our already large group joined with another large group for the snowmobiling and reindeer ride.
Safety wise, it was fine. When we arrived at the reindeer farm, it was all a bit disorganised and my husband missed out on a ride despite waiting at the gate the whole time. When we pointed this out to them at the end, the people running the farm just said to us “well, we asked the tour guides a couple of times to make sure everyone had a ride and we’re not going around again.”
The guides seemed embarrassed by the attitude of the people running the rides and so offered to take a family photo of us next to the reindeer but we would have just preferred that my husband got a ride.
When going inside for a hot drink and biscuit, again it was very busy with the two large groups in a small space and, as we were the last there (due to waiting in vain for my husband’s reindeer ride), we were unable to find a space for the 5 of us to sit together.
The morning was great, the afternoon less so. Lunch was good quality local fare and a decent range of options in the buffet as well (the two raw fish dishes were incredible) so no complaints there.

We came to Lapland for the first time in January 2020, 12th-15th. I booked this trip for the 14th and it was worth every penny. Rachel was our guide and she was fantastic from start to finish, it was just me travelling alone with my two sons, 3 and 4 years old. They done everything to make our trip easy and enjoyable and my youngest had fallen in love with Rachel by the end of the day. It was such a good day with amazing memories made. Thank you so much!!!!

Nice but very commercial village…
super nice accommodation with Scandinavian style furnishings and sauna. Mr. Santa Claus is beautiful and very tall but unfortunately taking a photo with him cost around €40.

We opted for “in pursuit of reindeer” snowmobiling to a reindeer farm.
Raúl was our guide and he was incredible! He was so kind, helpful and patient.
We were in a group of 4 adults and 5 children. The children went behind Raúl in a sled, he brought extra blankets for the little ones.
I wasn’t sure if the snowmobiling part would be long enough but it was plenty, we got to see so much of the snow covered forest and even stopped for a play and a few photos on the way.
I don’t know what I was expecting from the reindeer ride, I think I had imagined the entire group in a giant Santa sized sleigh being pulled at lightning speed by a large group of reindeer…
There were 2 reindeer, each being led by a guide around a small track, each reindeer pulled one sleigh with 2 ppl at a time.
We all had a great time, big thanks again to Raúl for being the best guide and making the experience so enjoyable

We booked ourselves 3 experiences and so glad we did so with them.
1) the Aurora picnic which was excellent as the lady who was our guide did a fantastic job giving us the history and details of the Aurora phenomenon. She was very hands on setting up the camp and giving us a little picnic.
2) Full day snowmobile safari to Snow hotel - We couldn't have had a better guide, David was brilliant. His enthusiasm and confidence was infectious and he made the whole trip so enjoyable. He was extremely helpful and patient with our challenged skills on the snowmobile. The snow hotel was fabulous experience and the lunch served there was outstanding.
3) Arctic delight - Santas village and snow mobiles to reindeer farm. We were a part of a big group so had Boris and Barbara as our guides. Santas village was a delight specially for the younger ones, loads of souvenir shops and cafes to visit. The buffet lunch was average. We were then shuttled back by bus to the snow mobiles to ride over to the reindeer farm which was yet another great experience.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Safartica for fabulous experiences of the Lapland.

We had a great day. Our tour guide Raul was awesome. So definitely would advise everyone to just book all your activities through safartica as we did. The guides are all very attentive. The following day we also did the aurora picnic and the husky ride. Which was guided by Hugo. We were so lucky and got to see the aurora aswell. Hugo filled us in with many informations. Many thanks to Hugo and Raul.

Hi, do you have afternoon option for this tour as we are arriving at our hotel at approximately 12:30pm? We are hoping to do this tour in the afternoon if possible. Thanks.
Written 9 March 2019
I dont think they would since when we booked they only had 8.30am and 11.30am slots. Also it takes up the entire day (almost 6-7 hours) so I wouldn't recommend doing it the same day.But having said this we went in December when daylight is very limited and I dont know if they do afternoon sessions during this time.
Contact them and they are quick to respond.
Enjoy your trip :)

What is the alternative to snowmobiling if I do not have a valid driving licence?
Written 29 January 2019
When we went snowmobiling it was not necessary to have a driver's licence. The controls are very simple: handlebars to turn the front skis, an accelerator lever and a brake lever.
If you are particularly nervous you could sign up for the extra damage insurance.
You could ask to simply ride behind one of the guides, or perhaps share a seat with the sled for the children. It is a great experience to drive one though.

We are staying at the Artic TreeHouse Hotel, Rovainemi. What are the arrangements made for us to join the tour? How far is the hotel from your office? We would like to make the trip on 18/01/2019. We have booked a separate tour for the Northern Lights Hunting for the 18th night. Would there be any clash between these tours?
