We will track animals at the surroundings of Stockholm's national forest. Starting from our office at 18.00 and out until 22.00, earlier in winter time. We will have plenty of time to get the chance to see Swedish iconic wildlife, make a fire and enjoy a nice dinner cooked on wooden fire. We will start by minivan through an area where we can see if any animal is awaiting for us. We’ll continue walking in the forest, around a lake where we know that there’s a great animal activity. During the tour we will have time to talk about the different animals one can encounter in Sweden while in nature, their behaviour, their habits, what they eat, how and where to spot them and much more. Bring your questions along. We will have a break for a dinner before scouting the forest again.

      Amazing experience!
We had an amazing experience on the wolf tracking tour. Our guide Sami was very informative and very enthusiatic about the wolves in the territory we went to and about Swedish wildlife in general. We learnt about the wolves in that territory and the recent changes that had happened. We also learnt about and saw (and smelt) the wolves poo. This was about as close as we got to the wolves! We walked across a frozen lake, a first for me! And, luckily (for us) Sami was the only one to fall. Sami tried to get the wolves to answer his howl later in the evening but unfortunately they were not interested! 100% would do this tour again! An amazing experience in the great outdoors with an enthusiatic guide! Thank you Sami!

      Disappointed
The hiking was cancelled by email as there weren't enough to justify the group hike. I didn't check my email until after I discovered the guide had not turned up at the appointed time and place. An SMS would have been a better way of communicating this important piece of information.

      Unique and exciting experience
We would highly recommend this hike to anyone visiting Stockholm. We were able to see the less visited outskirts of the city in a very fascinating and informative way. Daniel our guide was nothing short of amazing and made it feel like we were just having a walk through the forest with a friend rather than a guide. Daniel provided us with fascinating facts and also cooked us an amazing lunch. We will definitely be booking this tour again when we return to Stockholm and cannot recommend it enough to anyone wanting a unique adventure when visiting this amazing city. Thank you Daniel and Nature Tours Stockholm!

Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tour is a MUST DO!
This was a wonderful day trip for my friend and I. Even with the rough start, the tour was a highlight of my holiday away. We had a guest flip over and couldn't get back into his kayak and it took over an hour to take him back to the start and change him into a double kayak which was more stable. He had heavy workboots on which should not have happened. It would have been better to have identified this problem sooner since he was not stable from the beginning. Aside from this... We really enjoyed our tour with Elie. She was very skilled and passionate...a wonderful guide! The area of Stockholm Archipelago was sunning. The little island (Lillagrytt) where we had lunch at was a beautiful place to explore and photograph. Dalaro area. A great tour...I would highly recommend!

      Great day in nature
Everything was great. Sammy was very informative and you could feel he really loves what he is doing. Sadly we did not see any "big" animals like moose, deer, foxes or wolves but it did not matter. I mean at least I was able to finally see wolf poop and a moose footprint up close - not something you will see or smell everyday 😉 If you like hiking, nice people/guide, a good BBQ and true swedish nature i would definitely recommend this tour!!!

      Nature lovers dream trip
My 12 year old son and I loved our time with Sammy. He was such a knowledgeable enthusiastic and intuitive guide. We were lucky to find some very fresh signs of wolf activity! being close to that was special, and learnt a lot. A fantastic tour for people genuinely keen to learn more about tracking and engaging in the Swedish nature 💫 We would love to do a longer trip next time 🤩 Thankyou again, we will definitely tell people about the experience

2 Week Cast-Away Course is AWESOME!
The 2 week cast-away course was an amazing adventure! If you are looking for a way to test your survival skills, disconnect and thrive, this is the course for you. William will teach you the fundamentals of survival and then set you free to live alone in the forest. You build your own shelter, forge for food, learn how to way find with a compass and all about the 4 keys to survival - shelter, food, water and fire. By the end of the 14 days I felt I could stay in the forest and continue to thrive. I grew stronger each day as I used the skills William taught. It is not easy, but it is the most rewarding experience. To learn how to survive in the forest and grow stronger provides you a sense of accomplishment that cannot be found elsewhere. You will be a changed person with a new perspective on what is truly important to you.

Fantastic 1 Day Kayak Tour. Highly recommend True Nature!
Fantastic day out with the guys at True Nature. Clear directions to the office and good communication from the team. Daniel provided a friendly and insightful tour around the islands, an amazing campfire lunch and lots of help setting up the kayaks. Highly recommend to any visitors to Stockholm to experience the beautiful nature around the archipelago.

It was a really great experience !
Lucas, our guide, is full of knowledge about the woods, the animals and the flaura !
After meeting at the headquarters, we jumped in the car to a nearby national park where we walked through the woods listening to Lucas explanation. We wandered to a lake where we stopped for some Fika and lighted up a fire, ate and admired the view.
On our way back by car, it was time for some animals spotting as the sun was down and animals were coming out of the woods !

Overall, amazing experience with a very knowledgeable Lucas.
    Definitely recommend !

We had a great experience and loved the tour. We started with a hike after having driven for about 45 minutes. We walked about another 45 minutes I think through a forest with thick moss, ferns and wild blueberries covering the ground. We stopped at a beautiful and secluded lake. The picnic was basic but tasty. We then headed back to the car and the „real safari“ began. We drove around and spotted various deer, foxes, hares and an elk (moose). Our guide Shamu (I hope I am spelling this right) was great and did everything in his power to have us enjoy this outdoor trip. As such, he stayed much longer with us „in the wild“ to spot the animals because the trip was supposed to end at 22.00 h (arriving back in Stockholm, so including 30 minutes drive back!), but the animals only really start coming out at about 22.00 h. We therefore stayed until about 23.00 h, arrived back at 23.30 h and he kindly dropped us off at the t-banna station. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would recommend everyone to do it.
Two things however are to be mentioned:
    1. The trip should start later and therefore end later in order to have a good chance to see animals at dawn.
    2. The van’s breaks were completely shot. It sounded like the break pads were gone, so it was like steel on steel breaks. This generated much noise inside as well as outside. Inside, if you were sitting in the last row, you hardly understood the guide. More importantly however we feel this is a safety risk and should be fixed immediately.

Thank you for a great trip and not so typical Stockholm experience.

Read the reviews and thought this would be a cool experience. We had no plans for going to the wilderness, and this would be a way to see wildlife.
We met at the pick up point and were met by George, from Baltimore, now living in Stockholm. We received our trip briefing and loaded up.

After a 40 minute drive out of the city to a Nature area, we hiked about 15 minutes up a bluff. The overlook was great, open grass lands and woods. George is an outdoorsman and engaged our group in great conversation about the area, why the land is the way it is, and got us all to participate in the making of supper.

We cooked a great meal of vegan meatballs and lingonberry, potato salad and swedish flat bread. Lots of good flavor and it was such a great campout experience with the fire and smells. On this hike, not to strenuous, we saw viking burial areas, wild pig routing areas, a rouxin stone that had been restored, and plenty of excellent stories.

We loaded up for the 2nd part of trip, finding wildlife. Before we started, George briefed us on the area and the animals we might be seeing. George made no promises, but was confident we would find Moose.

The driving down the back roads payed off. We found lots of Deer and fowl over the first hour or so. As we were starting the reverse of the deep drive we came across the elusive moose, 4 of them in the field, just like George said they would be. Because of the roadways we had to reposition, and we continued to watch the moose as the evening went from dusk to twilight.

During the drive we saw excellent sun set and moon rise. A royal estate we could visit for tea, should we get back out that way, and plenty of farm houses with deep rich red paint.

The drive back into the city was quiet and we had small conversations of what we had seen
    5 moose
    24 deer
    7 bunnies
    1 fox
    13 geese
    5 swans
    1 magpie
    2 craines

    We had a real safari.

Although the guide was impeccable and the experience was interesting, the animal sanctuary part was not impressive. You can hardly see any animals, and we felt the price was far too high for what was offered.
I do not recommend this visit at this price, especially for those who truly want to appreciate the country’s wildlife.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found the guide impeccable and the experience interesting. However, we’re sorry to learn that the wildlife aspect did not meet your expectations. Our wildlife tours are designed to offer an authentic experience of Sweden’s nature, where animals roam freely in their natural habitat. This means that sightings can be unpredictable, as we do not feed or artificially attract animals. While this approach can sometimes be less rewarding in terms of visible wildlife, it reflects our commitment to respecting and preserving the wilderness. We understand that this unpredictability can be disappointing, especially when you’ve invested in the experience. Your feedback regarding the value for the price is noted, and we continuously evaluate how we can improve the experience for our guests. Thank you for joining us, and we hope you were still able to take away some memorable moments from your time in the Swedish wilderness.

We were supposed to go ice skating but unfortunately the ice didn't want to stay for us. We therefore opted for an excursion to see the wildlife of the forest. (Wildlife safari)

We left with Daniel. Very friendly and attentive guide.

We started with a car ride then a walk in the forest accompanied by a campfire and pastries while watching the sunset in the distance. I would have liked to see more animals but that's due to bad luck for us

Our guide was Lucas was really informative and enthusiastic showing me and my partner the Swedish forest and it was really interesting looking for animal tracks, poo and evidence of beavers! We unfortunately didn't get to see any elusive moose but saw lots deer and birds from the vehicle. It was also really nice to have a fireside 'fika' - thank you for the specially sourced vegan treats! The meeting point was easy to get to from the city centre and we were dropped off at the station afterwards. Would recommend as nice break from your city break!

We joined Daniel and a group of five other tourists for the evening to go to Tyresta national park and look for wildlife and learn about the nature and wildlife in the region.

Daniel was extremely knowledgeable and told us lots about the region and the animals living there. We had a beautiful hike around the park, incorporating a Fika break on the edge of the lake.

As well as the animals, Daniel told us about the plants and fungi in the park and explained some of the ways in which the plants can be used which was really interesting.

We saw a lot of Roe Deer and a few Fallow Deer but the Fallow Deer were quite skittish and didn't stick around for long. The Roe Deer seemed a lot more relaxed.

Whilst we had stopped for our Fika break a White-Tailed also appeared very briefly right above our heads. It was quite impressive to see such a massive bird so close up!

The most exciting part came right at the end of the evening and actually as we were pretty much leaving the park. A big bull moose (or should more properly say Elk) was crossing the field in the open on the way to the park and we were able to watch him briefly but he moved on very quickly.

Awesome you saw a moose (elk ;)). We don't always see them as they are semi nomadic. So you were lucky there. Happy to see that you had a great time with your guide Daniel and that you've learned a lot also. Plenty more to do here in Sweden. Hope to see you in the future.

We spent about 30 minutes driving each way, 45 minutes walking through the forest, about 45 minutes sitting at a quiet lake having tasty cold dinner (no animals unfortunately), and then 45 minutes driving around where we actually saw deer, moose, fox. It was overall a good experience but our guide normally led survival tours and walked too fast in the forest, leaving an older couple in the party way behind even when they told him to slow down. The women fell and the guide was so far ahead he had no idea anything had happened, leaving the rest of us to get her back up and walking again. Nobody except a couple of people in the front could hear anything he was talking about, he never waited for the group to catch up before talking about the forest. I think this is a good activity that could be great, but you need an experienced guide who is attuned to different fitness levels and keeps an eye on everyone .

Hi and thank you for your useful feedback. We are very sorry to hear that your experience with us wasn't up to your expectations! We work hard to make everyone happy and reading your comment helps us to train our guides in a better way! You're absolutely right, guides should wait for everyone to be present to explain about nature and also pay attention to every one in the group. This tour is designed for anyone to make it! We're therefore going to go through a training again with our guides to make sure this doesn't happen anymore! May I simply ask you to write to us privately info@truenaturesweden.com to let us know who was your guide that day? The idea isn't to blame anyone, that's not how we work, but rather taking the opportunity to reassess their guiding skills and get better! Again, all our apologies for a mediocre experience with us but also thank you to have share it to us! We hope to see you soon again to show you how we have improved :) Have a lovely day William

A very nice tour if you want to see a more authentic Sweden during a city trip to Stockholm. The tour takes you out of Stockholm by minibus. Along the way, you can take turns using binoculars to observe animals if they appear naturally. We saw 3 deer, a hare and a fawn. This was followed by a short hike around a lake, during which a lot of information about Sweden's vegetation was explained and there were wraps around the campfire in a very beautiful spot on the lake. The return journey was already dark, where you could take turns using a thermal imaging camera to search the forest for game while driving. In our case, without success, but that was not to be expected while driving.
In short: The term "safari" is a bit of a stretch, but it is very nice for getting an impression of Sweden's landscape.

We were lucky enough to have Daniel to ourselves for an evening walk and Fika in the National park 20mins. outside of Stockholm.
We set off in a minibus and we’re soon driving slowly along the park roads . Early on we saw some Sika deer and then parked up for a hike around the frozen lake before settling down to some Fika of sweet bread , tea around a fire that Daniel lit in a couple of minutes. His bush craft and wildlife knowledge is excellent so we learned a lot on the walk about moss, wood ants and lichen as well as the types of trees and shrubs in the forests and wildlife.
Returning to the van we drove v slowly out and we’re lucky enough to see a wild boar, loads of fallow deer , rabbits , hares and hear an owl. Without giving it away, it was dark by then but Daniel had a special way to reveal the wildlife for us. We returned after 4 hours with memories of a fabulous visit and a genuine wildlife experience
