Overview
Want to get an overview of Stockholm but not sure where to begin? This walking tour takes you to the highlights of the city (including Gamla Stan and the Royal Palace) as well as the Vasa Museum on Djurgården in the Stockholm archipelago. Along the way you hear tales from the Swedish capital's past and present, leaving you with a fuller grasp of the geography and culture of the city.
What to Expect
Your tour begins in Stockholm's oldest square, Stortorget, in the heart of Gamla Stan (old town). There, at the designated time, meet your guide and group and embark upon your walking tour.

While strolling the cobblestone streets of Gamla Stan, listen as your guide tells you about such historic characters as Birger Jarl, the man who founded the city of Stockholm in 1250. Walk through atmospheric narrow passageways and along streets originally built for horse-drawn carriages as you head for the Gothic cathedral, Storkyrkan.

Head onward to the Royal Palace to admire its splendid Baroque-style architecture, as well as the palace guards who protect the Swedish royal family's residence.

Next, it's time to explore the archipelago further. Take a ferry over to Djurgården island to visit the Vasa Museum. Explore the highlights of the ship, which sunk off Stockholm in 1628 on its maiden voyage.

Your tour concludes in the museum, so feel free to continue exploring, or perhaps grabb a bite to eat (own expense), at leisure.

This is a must see in Stockholm

The ship sank almost 400 years ago and was perfectly preserved due to cold low salt content of the water and the bottom muck. It is spectacular to see ship of those days in all its glory. This is well worth a couple of hours.
