        Fantastic private tour of Crete!
We had a fantastic day out in Crete on this tour. We did a private tour, and both our guide and our driver were outstanding. We saw beautiful sites, visited multiple towns, and we were even able to visit an olive oil factory that was closed for the season, but opened for us to see their factory and taste/purchase olive oil to take home. Fabulous day!

        Magnificent tour
My family and I booked a tour with Snami travel for a mythical tour of Crete. Our tour guide was Alex and we had Aristotle as our driver Our driver was very warm and friendly. He did not speak much English but there was always a smile on his face and he was always happy to help or invite us to have some of his raki. I spent 4 days in Crete and drank way too much raki. The interesting thing is the drivers home made raki was probably the best raki I’ve had. The smell is a lot stronger than it is. After each shot you feel a warmth but there is absolutely no hangover or headache! Alex is such an amazing story teller. He was very fun, engaging, and thoughtful throughout the whole trip. Our family composed of 9 individuals whom ages ranged from 22 months to 70 years old. He made sure that everyone was happy, engaged, and comfortable throughout the whole trip. We learned about about the North and west side of Crete on our first day. We enjoyed his guidance so much that I asked if I could book another tour with Alex and our driver. Alex did a custom tour for us for the southern part of Crete. After spending two full days with Alex and Aristotle, I learned so much about the culture of Crete that I would not be able to find elsewhere. Crete is a beautiful island that can itself be its own country. Its history and culture is so unique and rich. The strategic location of Crete made it a blessing and a curse for how much triumph and conquers there has been. You can appreciate its history through the taste of their food. They have traditionally Greek food (meats/seafood with lots of oregano and thyme) yet with Turkish influences (cloves). The uniqueness of their cheese (made with goat). The romantic and beautiful scenary. The crazy myths that can be told of every rock formation. The charm of having a church in the middle of a gorge on a mountain. A island where you have the Mediterranean and the African weather. You will only find this in Crete. Alex showed me all of this. You won’t regret booking with Snami and having them shown you true Cretan hospitality and beauty that you and I would not be able to find on our own. Thank you for the wonderful trip

Wonderful Day in Chania and the Cretan Mountains. 5 Stars
I (along with 9 others) did this tour in late November during a port call to Chania on Island Princess. I'd originally booked the tour with Alexander, but he was unexpectedly unavailable and arranged for Elisavet to cover for him. While I'm sorry we couldn't go with Alexander, we all absolutely adored Elizavet (and Stefano, her driver)! She met us on time at the cruise ship terminal and we boarded a comfortable min-bus for the drive along the coast and then up into the mountains to visit Kavallos and Lake Kourn. Then further up off the beaten path to the mountain top village of Agryoupoli, but first stopping by the ruins of a 9th century Byzantine church where we had a picnic of local cheese, olives, oranges, and wine, together with a toast in Cretan raki from a bottle with no label! Continuing on to Rethymno we had a walking tour of the city and then had a delicious lunch at a small taverna somewhere in a maze of streets. Grilled calamari along with greens, and a glass of Cretan white wine is a fine way to complete an excursion. A little more raki and we were back on the bus and on our way back to the ship, which we made with plenty of time to spare before sailing. The day was unbelievable. Great weather with a compatible group of cruisers, an outstanding guide and hostess who clearly loved her homeland of Crete and a great driver. I couldn't have asked for more. If you're on a cruise ship visiting Chania (or Heraklion) be sure to consider booking an excursion with Snami Travel. Should I ever be back there, I know I will be seeing where else they could take me. Skip the boring ship tours and check out Snami Travel.

Amazing, easy, smooth. No hiccups and flexible.
I had the best experience. The best day ever. Alexander aka “the Wizard as we called him new everything and everything about what we wanted to do. The local food, the interactions and best of all the shopping. He made transactions so smooth as our translator. The places that he recommended that we experience ls were absolutely stupendous. I will be requesting for the Wizard again on our next. As most of my experience I didn’t have to worry about blinking because caught the sights for me. Much appreciated and give that man a raise

Amazing experience with an amazing guide!
We had a private tour scheduled and at the last minute our port changed. This company was so accommodating and adjusted to meet us at our port. Our guide Panos was entertaining, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable of the area. We wanted to see Elafonisi but due to wind/weather the conditions were not good for that but we were able to adjust and have a fantastic time. Panos brought us to an amazing Tavern for lunch and then serenaded us on the trip back to the port. We were highly impressed and enjoyed every second!

        A perfect day in Crete
As a group of 9 w e took an all day tour of Crete. Our tour guide was Elisavet and our driver was Stefano. It’s hard to express exactly how great they were. Their knowledge and love of Crete was amazing. They made us feel like friends not paying customers. We had a wonderful day, they even managed to keep the rain away until we were aboard the bus. We would recommend them to anyone thinking of doing a tour of the island.

Best part of our visit to Crete!
If we had to pick a highlight of our trip to Greece it was Crete. We booked two tours by Sanimi Travel highlighting the culture and history of the island with an emphasis on ancient civilizations. Our tour guides Ioanna and Joanna in company with Nikos our driver, are wonderful people who provided an abundance of fascinating information. We visited quintessential Greek villages, traveled the countryside on winding roads with panoramic views, and ate fabulous meals of local delicacies. We visited Knossos Palace, stopped at an olive oil producer, did a wine tasting the recommendation of our incredible guides. We made memories that will last our lifetimes!

        Mythical Escape Tour
This was a beautiful, in depth understanding of the culture of Ancient Crete and Greece. Our guide, Elissávet, gave us the true understanding of the influences and layers of history of the exceptional sites and people and natural forces that formed Crete and the Greek Isles. She, along with our Driver, Stefanos, made us feel like their family- actually we loved them. Elissávet also helped us with some other sites and insight into them even though she was not our guide at the time. Both of them went over and above all of our expectations and we are grateful to have met them and had the good fortune to have them as our guides.

        Eastern Crete Tour
We had a private tour of eastern Crete and local culture with our guide Nicolas. This was an entire day excursion that he introduced us to history - food, and local culture of the area. He was one of the most knowledgeable and gracious hosts for our day including seeing his family home, his own olive grove and one of his favorite towns and Lunch spot which was very special. Cannot say enough good about what a special experience we had in his great care. Great human being.

        Not What We Expected
The reviews of this were so good, and the photos so stunning, that we decided to splurge on this experience for one of our two full days in Crete. However, the beaches look nothing like the photos anymore - supposedly tourists have been collecting the pink sand (colored by local shells and coral) to take home with them, that it's barely colored at all now. Also, even in shoulder season, the beach was PACKED with people. There were no chairs available to rent, and we barely found a place to put out towels. Lots of other beach-goers were wading around in the water carrying all of their stuff with them. It ultimately didn't matter too much, because we only had about an hour to send at Elafonsi, which included the 15-minute trek from the parking lot down to the beack, and the 20-minute trek back up the hill. The rest of the day was spent in the car! We didn't realize it was at least 3.5 hrs each way, a lot of which was on mountain switch-backs. Our guide was very pleasant, the car was comfortable, and we learned a lot about Crete. But it was definitely not the luxurious and relaxing experience we thought we signed up for. The taverna we were taken to for lunch was in a beautiful mountain town, and we enjoyed our meal, though it felt relatively pricey, around 40 Euros per person. I share this info to make sure people considering it know the details. It might have been different for us if we had another day to spend in Crete. But this was our one "beach day" that we planned, and we did not get to relax in the sun and enjoy the aquamarine waters like we dreamed about, so for the incredibly hefty price tag that came with it, we were ultimately disappointed.

        Perfect day
Loved this excursion ! The drive to elafonisi was beautiful and terrifying !! Thank you to nikos for maneuvering the windy cliff roads ! The scenery was breathtaking and company of our guide super! Very knowledgeable and kind , knew where to stop for the best shots …. On the way …. The beach itself was amazing .. yes pink sand ! I wish I could have spent more time there. However our tour started from Heraklion , which is a far drive ~3 hours +. Much closer to chania if you are staying there , you could have a full beach day ! Great company and great food and sights ! The day was perfect

Great tour with an excellent guide.
Nikolaos was an excellent guide and a great conversationalist. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing the Cretian way of life with us. We started on the eastern side of the island so much of the trip was driving, however, Nikolaos kept us entertained with his knowledge of the island. The place we stopped for lunch was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Crete. I will say, however, if you are booking this tour I recommend getting picked up on the western side of the island closer to Chania. You will have more time at the beach and visiting other stops. It was a shame we didn't have time to do more, but over all an amazing tour.

Our Day With Alex Exceeded Expectations - And My Expectations were High
Advisory: this is a long review. Last year I used the services of Alex for a customized tour of Western Crete for me and my group of cruisers from Souda/Chania port. That tour was excellent on all counts so I had high expectations for this year. This year there were 21 people including me and my husband, divided amongst 3 vehicles. Each vehicle had its own guide, wifi, water, and then there would be snacks. Alex's tours are super well organized. This means that we saw a lot without feeling rushed, avoided crowds, and for the geocachers among us there were opportunities to find some types of caches. . For me of course, it was a delight to get to greet Alex in person again. Alex shows such zest for life and love of what he is doing, yet he is professional through and through with tremendous attention to detail. Example: He explained history of the fountains in Krasi and the sycamore tree accurately, and yet in such a way that old history and modern life are connected. Before the pottery shop there had been stops at marvelous viewpoints. Also before the pottery shop, we stopped at the Moni Vidianis Monastery. Alex differentiated among real monasteries and those aimed toward tourists. The chapel was small but beautiful. One of the guides enhanced our experience by singing briefly. Just outside the monastery, our drivers and guides had set out a snack buffet I will call it, including raki if people wanted to imbibe that potent drink. Then it was back on the road again to the pottery place owned by the Pitarokillis family. This was a REALLY big shop. No, it was not a tourist trap. No way would Alex take us to one, unlike ship tours. Would they be happy if people bought pottery, tea, or whatever? Of course, but as I say, definitely not a tourist trap. Mrs. P explained the process of what they do there, with cheerful exchanges of teasing between Alex and Mrs. P. There were some exhibits of how pottery was made in the past. A staff member demonstrated how pots were shaped and decorated on the wheel, then some people got the opportunity to make their own pots. I was one of them. What a great experience that was! Our next destination was the “Zeus” Cave/Psychro Cave. This was a delight for more than one reason: the exercise to get up to it, the history and myth of it, and the earth-cache (type of geocache) there as well. There was then an approximately 20 minute hike/walk up a sort of paved trail with switchbacks to the cave entrance. Alex and the other guides set a very easy, slow pace with a couple of pauses in the shade, some of the people turned back part way up the trail, and one person chose to ride one of the donkeys (for an extra fee) As you might imagine, the views from the trail were great.. Then comes the steepish steps down, down into the cave. A couple more people dropped out at this point. We continued on, and were glad we did. The cave is really interesting in terms of geology and myth both. The water is so clear at the pool of the back of the cave we didn't even realize there was water there until a guide tossed a pebble. After walking back down the mountain, we had a delightful lunch at a taverna, the Halvro Restaurant. After traveling through more striking country side, we arrived at Knossos Palace. It worked really well to arrive at the site in the late afternoon. There were lots of people, of course, but not the major crowds there would have been earlier in the day when the many busloads of tourists from the several cruise ships in port that day were present. Alex had arranged for an expert guide/historian to lead us through the ruins and explain things. A very short drive to the port followed, It was time to say goodbye to Crete and to Alex. There is NO doubt at all who I will contact if life brings us to Crete again. Alex and his company are the best!

        Perfect for history lovers
Alexander was an amazingly knowledgeable and hospitable tour guide. As history lovers, he brought us into the details of Cretan past, as well as present, and answered all of our questions with humor and detail. Our tours were led by a retired professor who captivated us with the stories and details that we never would have learned if on our own. It was definitely a five star experience and a memory of a lifetime. Thank you!

We had the most amazing time on this tour. It exceeded our expectations. Our guides were friendly and so knowledgeable- not only about history but also local culture. Each stop had rich history, the sites were busy but not overly crowded like some other historical places. Knossos palace was beautiful, the wine tour was amazing, such a beautiful location, lunch at a local restaurant was delicious and the museum was full of history and myth!
I would recommend this tour to anyone with a group, big or small, the hospitality can’t be beat.

We really enjoyed the visit to the palace at Knossos and the archaeological museum. Our guide Marinella did an amazing job setting the context and presenting the history of the Minoans. At the museum in particular, she brought us to see all the key artefacts, giving us the context and explaining their significance. We especially enjoyed observing all the little details she pointed out to us, which gave us a much better appreciation of the historical and cultural importance of the exhibits. In between stops, she also kept us entertained with anecdotes of daily life in Crete, and wove together folklore and mythology and how it influenced their culture today. We really enjoyed the tour, which gave us a better understanding of Minoan Crete.

A terrific experience start to finish with a friendly guide (Alex) and a knowledgable specialist at the museum and Knossos (Katerina). The countryside was a revelation and the drive to and from the winery was beautiful. the winery (Ayrakis) was in a stunning location and we enjoyed learning about the grape varieties and discussing the wine as we sampled it.
I would highly recommend this tour and the tour company. Enquiries were swiftly dealt with (thank you Ioannis) and the whole experience was made easy. As we left the QM2 the driver was waiting with a name board. He was an informative and good driver! We went off the beaten track and returned exactly on time.

Dear Kat, I am so delighted to read your review and kind words. So lovely to know that you had a good time on our "Minoan Crete from 3.000 BC" shore excursion in January - one of our best-kept secrets for immersive travel experiences on the island. Also, I am delighted to see that both Alexander and Katerina have made such a positive impact on your day trip. And of course our beloved winery of Lyrarakis! I am looking forward to welcoming you again in Crete or another alluring destination in Greece. Sincerely, Ioannis Georgiadis Greece Luxury Travel by Snami Travel

We arrived at Heraklion port for a day and we wanted to see all the must-see highlights around. Knosson is a worth-visiting of course as well as the museum. Then our guide took us to see some nice landscapes and villages. The recommendation for lunch was excellent. Thank you!
