Absolutely loved it. Panos was an excellent tour guide, engaging and humorous. 3 hours flew by as we listened to the history of Athens, visited historical sites. Panos finished off the tour with an incredible discussion on Greek philosophy.

A window on the history of Athens
My favorite of all activities in Athens. Panos engaged with us from the moment we met. He spoke to each of us and ensured we participated in the process. Asking us questions and keeping us involved. He was also kind and caring. Ensured we were comfortable all the time. The pace was easy. There was lots of information being shared at a digestible rate. We visited several sites and didn’t feel rushed. Some of his stories were funny and made us laugh. Highly recommended 👌!!

        Thought provoking! Fantastic
I had an incredible experience on this walking tour of Athens, which explored the philosophy, history, and scientific thought of some of the city’s greatest minds. Our guide, Panos, was exceptional—kind, patient, and deeply knowledgeable. His passion for the topics he covered was evident, making every story and insight even more engaging. Walking through Athens while learning about the philosophical foundations that shaped Western thought was both inspiring and thought-provoking. If you’re looking for a tour that goes beyond the usual historical sites and dives into the ideas that shaped the world, this is definitely one to take. Highly recommend!

One of the highest highlights of our trip to Greece
Thank you! To sit where Plato sat, to learn as much as we did in those wonderful 3 1/2 hours! Wow. It was an opportunity not to be missed and Panos, our guide was absolutely sensational. We have so much to learn from this country. Particularly interesting to learn about the birth place of democracy, as we all apparently are watching its decline. Not to be missed by anyone who loves history! 😊

HIGHLY recommend this tour! The tour guide was interesting, easygoing, and a wealth of knowledge. He has a fun way of describing/showing what it was really like to be an Athens citizen in ancient times while guiding you through the city's must see sites.

It was a very nice guided tour of Ancient Greece with an in-depth focus on the evolution from myths to philosophy and the growth of democracy. Even though our world can be understood through natural laws and mathematical patterns: keep wondering, always! Pur guide Pano embodies this entirely. Any question will be answered with knowledge and an invitation to amazement. If you're interested in this part of the ancient Greek history and how it's still very relevant and alive in today's world... Take the tour! You'll love it

The first stop for anyone interested in Athens’ history
This tour was fantastic. Panos is extremely knowledgeable and explains things in a very interesting and thought provoking way. He tailored the tour according to what we were interested in and honestly I could find no fault. Do yourself a favour book this tour as the first thing you do when you come to Athens, if you are truly interested in its history. From here you can choose if you wish to delve deeper into a particular site, and visit it specifically for a deep dive.

Thought Provoking, Relatable and Very Enjoyable
Panos’ walking tour combines the historical sites with stories, humor and thought provoking explanations that chronicles how the field of philosophy developed the idea of Democracy in ancient Athens. We concluded with a very engaging discussion on some of the major philosophers’ ideas and inventions and how they resonate in today’s science and society. I highly recommend this tour!

        Best walking tour ever
I have joined many walking tours, but Panos’s democracy and philosophy tour is the best one I have experienced so far. He presents historical anecdotes in a very engaging way. He is not a conventional tour guide who merely explains facts and events at a surface level; he is incredibly knowledgeable, delving into philosophical concepts not only from ancient philosophy but also from other domains such as biology (e.g., natural creatures having innate needs for equality—do all values follow a template?) and quantum physics (e.g., the quantum yin-yang) and so many more things. It was such a thought-provoking experience, and I had the best discussion I’ve had in recent months.

        Outstanding Experience
Highly recommend this tour! It offers great context of the burgeoning philosophical thought of 2,500 years ago alongside the actual locations. Panos is a learned philosopher and truly passionate about how the conversations of the ancient Agora changed human thought and understanding.

From the ancients to quantum mechanics, philosophy at its best - so good!
Great tour, small group, fantastic guide. Would absolutely recommend. This was an experience I was looking forward to for a very long time and was not disappointed. So amazing to stand rock where Socrates gave his final lesson

Great to learn about Greek culture
Amazing tour ! Panos was a great tour guide. He knew so many things about history, philosophy and even science. His explanations were very clear and so interesting. We started by waking through the center of the city and he explained things about the agora, keramikos, the library of Hadrian, pnyca. We then sat and he continued his explanation about different Greek philosophers, mathematicians, … where we had a discussion. It was a very complete tour. Great for general culture. Thank you Panos !

Fascinating and eye-opening tour about the real history of democracy!
This was a wonderful tour! My guide, Panagiotis, was absolutely fantastic. B/c I visited Greece in the winter, the sites weren't crowded, and we were able to walk at a leisurely pace. I asked a ton of questions and learned so many new things about democracy, philosophy, the Acropolis, Agora, Plaka, and many Greek sites. 10/10!

First, we were late for our tour because of timed release at our cruise ship. When we contacted Panos, it was no problem. We stayed in touch and he retrieved us from our hotel in a clean and today car. While we drove to the shipyard, he told stories that gave context to everything we were to see and the incredibly turbulent history of wars in Greece.

At our first stop, we saw a replica of the trireme which my husband and I both found amazing. And we toured a bout used in WW1.

Then we were off to the war museum where he guided us through each exhibit giving context to the wars and pointing out the most important moments and artifacts. There were moving moments, funny moments and sad moments we would have missed without Panos’ fantastic explication.

Lastly, we visited the museum of Ancient Greek technology. It was fantastic and just what we needed after the sobriety of the war museum. Do not miss this tiny bit incredibly fun museum!!!

Going on this tour was a story, with explainations for wars based not only on politics, but ambition, geography, and jealousy. So much more than dates and facts, it felt like a journey through time. This was one of the best tours we’ve ever done anywhere and you will not regret it! If you love history, this is a must on your Athens visit.

Panos was a great tour guide. He was on time for both tours and knowledgeable about Greek military history. He also helped us to customize our two tours. One tour related to the Poseidon Temple and sights along the coast and the other one to museums in Athens on technology, a model trireme and visit onboard a Greek battleship from the 20th century. I highly recommend him.
