      Amazing Alexia!
Alexia was an exceptional guide - so knowledgeable (studied archaeology at university) and incredibly considerate of finding us shade and seats at many moments during the tour, which was essential given the heat and sun (even on a 9am tour in May). I saw other tours who were unfortunately standing, exposed in the beating sun while we walked through trails under the shade of trees or heard ancient myths in the shade of the cliffs. I highly recommend the tour and insist that you take significant water and a hat - you’ll cool off and have an opportunity to have lunch/drinks in the museum but amenities are limited at the acropolis itself. Thank you again Alexia!

      Fun Athens Experience
Had a great time! Our guide Tassos obviously loves what he does. The food choices showed a variety of Athens/ Greek food and drink, including the best souvlaki I’ve ever had. Definitely recommended.

      Great experience.
Tour of the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum. A hot day, but an easy walk with a great guide, Kimon 🙂 It "serves" a lot of information in an interesting way. The 4-hour tour passed unnoticed. All recommendations .

      Best tour ever!
The tour was excellent. We got so much side information, which makes you connect more to Athens and Greece. Tassos was very open and chatty. We were walking along and through many places and eyerywhere he knew a story to tell. It was great fun and time was passing by so quickly even though we overran the schedule.

Athens + food + tour guide = a great morning
Our "small tour" with just my wife and I was great. Tassos Tsikontouris was a great guide and storyteller, the food was great (although I'm still not a fan of Greek/Turkish coffee, or any other coffee for that matter), and the city did not disappoint. (Sorry it took so long to submit the review, it completely slipped my mind until I found Tassos' business card in my luggage.)

A highly entertaining and educational peek into the inner workings of Athenian gastronomy. Anastasios (Tassos) was fun and very tasty, lol, I mean tasteful in his descriptions. We would highly recommend!

      Excellent Food Tour!
We had a brilliant time on our food tour with Tassos! We was so helpful, friendly and lovely, it felt like strolling around catching up with an old friend! The food was delicious and there was so much to eat, we came away with enough to have some left over for later! My personal favourite was either the souvlaki or the bougatsa, but everything was delicious! As well as the great food Tassos gave us lots of great info about Athens, history, good spots to try out and just about life in Greece in general! Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone as it was the highlight of our stay in Athens!

      Fantastic Tour, well worth it!
Tassos was a fantastic tour guide, very friendly & knowledgable of the best local foods & history. The quality of the food on the tour was fantastic & he shows you all the best & most traditional spots. He was patient and even taught us a little bit of Greek. The amount of food you get on the tour is well worth the price and we also came away with goodie bags from our stops of nuts & fruit. Highly recommend this tour & Tassos as your tour guide! Looking forward to visiting Athens again. Thank you Chloe & Carol

      Alexia rocks the tour,
What a fantastic tour. Alexia was extremely knowledgeable but also passionate about the history of Greece and the Acropolis. She was engaging and even kept our teenager’s attention. We highly recommend the tour. If you want a truly extraordinary tour ask for Alexia as you can’t go wrong.

We started the tour by meeting our guide Alexia at the Acropolis Metro Station. It was from this very moment her passion and enthusiasm for the history of Ancient Greece shone brightly.

We started in the museum when it was nice and quiet and Alexia took the group upstairs and showed us the exact layout of the Pantheon. It was like we had the whole floor to ourselves. This was very beneficial for when we made our way up to the Pantheon.

After the top floor we made our way through the museum where she would stop and talk extensively about major artefacts.

As we made our way outside and on to the Pantheon Alexia used every opportunity to keep us out of the glare of Helio’s sun (the god of the sun).
When we reached the top all the information Alexia had provided us in the museum appeared in front of us.

Alexia was more than happy to answer questions and take some amazing photos which I have attached. I would highly recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough to get Alexia for the tour you will have the opportunity to see why I have spent the time to make such a positive review.

We had a private tour with Kostas. He is really knowledgable and passionate about his subject. We did the museum first, which really helps frame the visit to the Acropolis later. We travelled with three children and they did really well, although the museum is a tough ask for them, Kostas managed to keep them engaged most of the time. Definitely worth it and much more engaging than doing the visit by yourself.

My wife and I participated in the guided tour of the Acropolis and the museum on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! Where to begin? We loved how easy it was - we didn't have to wait in line at all and the only thing we had to worry about was getting to the designated meeting place on time. Everything was communicated very well leading up to the tour, we knew exactly where to go and what to do. The tour itself was a ton of fun! We loved seeing the museum before the actual Acropolis, it is so fascinating! Our guide, Andrea, did a fantastic job the whole time explaining the rich history. I especially liked how she explained the story in the museum, because while reading the signs by every statue is nice, her stories and explanations were well worth the price. Going through the museum in this guided way is the way to go! We also loved the Acropolis itself. It was well-paced in the hike up to it, and again we enjoyed Andrea's tour. There's basically no way to get the information she gave us on the way up, so having this tour is worth it when going to the Acropolis. Overall, I recommend this to anyone going to Athens! Avoid the line and let this group take you on this fantastic tour.

This guided tour was worth the money, time and education. We attended the 9 am tour and it was perfect. Are group was the first to the Acropolis museum which made it very personal, this museum gets very crowed by noon. Our guide was a history major and gave us the most educational tour of the museum followed by a tour of the Acropolis slopes and the Pantheon. I highly recommend it.

We had a guide called Alexia, who was a Native Athenian and Archaeologist also- very qualified! She took us through the Museum first to try and maximise our time and avoid the crowds- very wise as everyone else heads up the hill first and Museum second. We went through the Museum with only a few other stray people at the same time. Easy to move around ( our group was only 18) and get close to the exhibits and hear her speaking. Once we had been educated on what all the aspects of The Acropolis were, we then made the trek up the hill. It was an easy walk as Alexia stopped many time along the way to discuss the different ruins visible and allow us time for photos and views of the city also. When we were near the top, she was constantly checking if we could see her as it got busier. She even acted as photographer for anyone who wanted pics and all the time providing wonderful personal insights and anecdotes. If you get her as a guide you will have hit the jackpot. Wonderful 3 1/2 hrs spent.

The tour description said that we would go to the Acropolis first and then end in the museum. We signed up for the 9 am tour. They decided to switch the order and go through the museum first. Horrible idea, particularly since the guide took almost 2 hours to go through the museum. Our guide Alexia was knowledgeable, but standing around in a museum for 2 hours was too long. After our 2 hour museum tour, we finally were ready to go to the Acropolis, two hours later than planned, meaning that it was now much hotter than it was earlier in the morning. Alexia had us stop at a busy corner to buy water from a street vendor. While we were buying our water, she took off with the rest of the group without any warning. We were wearing "Whisper" earbud devices, so we could hear her talking, but had no way to contact her. She continued on with the tour and never even noticed that two of her 12-14 group members were missing. We turned down the way we thought she went, but when our listening devices stopped working, we realized we turned the wrong way. We eventually made it to the Acropolis and ran across our group again. Alexia did not mention anything about leaving us back. She apparently never even noticed we were missing. I booked this tour based on the other reviews, but I cannot give this tour a good review.

Dear traveler, We read carefully every part of your review. It is clearly stated at our tour description that “In an effort to ensure that you will avoid any kind of discomfort and most importantly that you will feel comfortable, our guides may change order of the sites you may visit.” The site of the Acropolis can be very busy on specific days, when cruises boats arrive in the city at the same time. To ensure the well-being of our travelers we sometimes, choose to visit the Acropolis afterwards, as we don't want our travelers to wait under the sun, among big crowds. On top of the Acropolis hill, there is an ancient narrow path and there someone might have to wait or walk inch by inch. Our intentions were honestly good. After the tour inside the museum, there is a small break for washrooms and water. The guides meet the travelers after the break at a specific time and that is the time they must depart. We have stick to the schedule as mentioned, respected to the fullest extent the needs of our travelers giving them the chancecto provide themselves with water, a human need before hinking under the sun as the next site includes a hill.We are striving to adjust to any difficulty may arise and solve any kind of issue, for example a closed cafeteria inside the museum, because of an event taking place. All the group was together the pace cannot be very fast given that the group consists of 17 people with different needs. We completely understand that Athens can be very busy around the most famous site of Greece, the Acropolis, which is the case given that the season is extended, especially in 2022.Unfortunately, there is not much we can do about it. We are deeply sorry you lost your tour guide but the travelers should be at the meeting point on time given that the rest of the group cannot wait. You mentioned that you run across our group, so as we understand the rest of the group continued the tour with the tour guide.Furthermore, is highly recommended to follow the tour guide as a group, and stick together, given that it is impossible for the tour guide to follow 14-22 different people. The tour guide, as the leader of a group, has to go in the front and proceed. We are deeply sorry for your experience. As far as the duration of the Acropolis Museum tour is concerned, you have signed up for a 3 to 4 hours tour. There is an introduction about the city, the excavation outside the museum and then the tour inside the museum, apparently it is natural to spend at each site 1,5 to 2 hours. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about it. We will do everything within our power to improve the site's description and be more specific from every point of view. Not to make this about myself, but to give context to my review - I'll start by saying that I am a professional museum educator and sometime tour guide working in a world leading institution, in a major European capital city. My husband and I really enjoy guided walking tours and have been on many.

Our guide, Alexia, did the profession of tour guide proud indeed. From the very start she had the group's comfort in mind, and she made informed decisions to minimise the impact to us all of waiting and crowding.

She elected to take us first to the Acropolis Museum, where her choice of exhibits gave us a solid historical and cultural background.

Tis was achieved firstly, via a whistle stop run through the centuries of history of the Acropolis hill. Lastly, through the every day objects excavated from the Acropolis and its near surroundings. In between, Alexia showed us museum objects such as statuary and frieze panels, that would help us make better sense of the former appearance of the buildings now in ruins when we viewed the Parthenon, the Erechtheion etc. once on the Acropolis.

She provided information about artistic and building techniques as well as history. Her depth of knowledge of her subject shone through immediately. Not least in her ability to answer spontaneous questions from the group.

We had a short break after the wonders of the museum. For our pause, Alexia made it very clear where to find the restrooms, where to buy water for inexpensively, and when and where to meet her. (As an aside, this museum is beautifully designed and lit inside and out. The object display and interpretation is also excellent.)

We then moved on to the Acropolis hill itself, and Alexia walked us through the ruined buildings explaining their function and purpose, liberally laced with relevant mythology and some lighthearted and amusing references.

On the practical side, she also offered to take photos, suggested where to stand to see the best views and made sure to steer us into the shade wherever possible. She managed expectations remarking 'only another two minutes' or, 'we're almost at the top (of the hill) but before we get there be aware that we will have to queue a little on the steps.' She also gave advice on how to descend at the end of the tour, and which route to take to see for example, Hadrien's Library, the Agora, and other ruins nearby.

Alexia is friendly, professional, speaks excellent, and easy to understand, English, plus, she has a pleasant sense of humour. She is a sensitive and responsible guide. We would highly recommend a tour with this company.

Alexia was - and I am not exaggerating - the best tour guide I've ever had, on any trip, ever! She is so engaging and knowledgeable and funny. She also was really strategic and thoughtful about how she planned our time during this long (4 hours) tour, stopping at the perfect times to make sure we got chances to sit down, use the restroom, get some waters/coffee, etc. On our hike up to the Parthenon she would pull us aside regularly to sit down in the shade while she told us stories. I always felt like I was in good hands and I never felt overwhelmed or bored. Overhearing other tours while we were there made me so glad that she was our guide! She also has her masters in archaeology so she is very very educated about everything and you can ask her tons of questions and she knows all of the answers. At the end she sent us recommendations for Athens and Crete. My husband and I had a great time and we would recommend a tour with her to anyone!

This group tour was ok. The group was larger than I expected - about 20 - so staying close to the guide was difficult. The poor quality listening devices was a major problem. Alexia the guide frequently apologised for this. But also her descriptions were rote and mechanical with rehearsed jokes and poor pronunciation. I have been on several wonderful 'free walking tours' in European cities. This one was ok, but disappointing.

Dear Christofer, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review! We definitely rely on our guests' reviews to ensure we are doing a great job, thus your feedback is important. Our Acropolis and Acropolis Museum tour has a maximum of 22 travellers, which is clearly stated. Nevertheless, we have private tours available, where you can select the number of participants. When a whisper doesn't work, our guides will politely apologize and offer you another one, as they have many with them to avoid any discomfort. We are happy she was not ignorant and she cared if the travellers could actually listen to her. Our guides give a thorough explanation of the monuments and a historical lecture because they respect their country and its cultural heritage. A more-in depth lecture cannot be delivered without a thorough preparation and practice, which means that our guides are well-prepared. Alexia, is an exceptional professional –one of our best- who usually receives excellent reviews and positive comments about her passion, enthusiasm when transmitting her knowledge about her country. Furthermore, she is a thoughtful, empathetic individual, and if you had asked her to slow down, she would have certainly done so. Unfortunately, we cannot cover all the accents of people from different parts of the world. Alexia like any person has her own character and personality which might not be a perfect match for everyone. You mentioned "free walking tours in Europe". Thank you for giving us the chance to inform all travellers that the guides of our country receive their license from the Ministry of Culture and Sports, after special training. We respect to the fullest extent their profession and we follow the laws. To that end, we work only with licensed tour guides and not any person who could act as one. We are so sorry you did not enjoy your morning with the Athenian tours. Have a great day! Kind regards, Spyros Kolyvas The Athenian Tours Team Experience the Essence of Athens

I'm extremely happy we booked this tour! Our guide, Alexia was punctual, smart, very prepared, polite, kind and sweet with great energy and passion when talking. She's an archeologist and historian so she has excellent knowledge on the matter.
She took into account the crowds and made sure we visited the museum first and then the Acropolis. She also made short stops under the shade while hiking to the Parthenon so we could breathe and stay as cool as possible.
She had printed pictures of some sculptures and buildings so we could get the idea of how everything looked before it was destroyed.
She also offered to take pictures of us at two spots.
After the tour she gave recommendations of where to eat, shop and visit that help us have a awesome experience in Greece.
We highly recommend booking a tour with Alexia.
