Overview

Explore Portugal's Ria Formosa Natural Park on a boat tour, a great way to explore parts of the park inaccessible by car. Aboard a catamaran, you'll enjoy unobstructed views of the Algarve Coast and cruise around the islands of Deserta, Farol, Culatra, and Armona. Traveling with a guide maximizes your chances of spotting local wildlife such as egrets and flamingos, and promises to enhance your knowledge of local flora and fauna. A small group limited to 12 people guarantees personalized attention from your guide.

What to Expect

Make your way to Faro port to board a modern catamaran. As your guide provides an overview of the area, watch the coastline of Faro recede on the way out to sea. Keep watch for coastal birds that use this area as a breeding ground, such as egrets, cranes, and flamingos.

Cruise along the Algarve coast, through the lagoons of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and around the islands of Deserta, Farol, Cultura, and Armona. At each island, the catamaran makes a stop for you to access the isolated beaches. Taking this boat tour allows you the best possible views and experience of the natural park and the islands.

Return to the port in Faro for drop-off at the end of your tour. Morning and afternoon tours are available to suit your schedule.

Highlight of my trip to Faro!

I can’t recommend this excursion highly enough and don’t think there’s a better way to visit all four islands near Faro: Ilha da Baretta (deserted island), Ilha do Farol (lighthouse island), Ilha da Culatra (fisherman’s island) and Ilha de Armona, which has a lovely beach...More

Thoroughly enjoyable, well run experience!

Things got off to a good start when I was on the phone to Sandra (I think), who was cheerful & helpful on the phone and in person. And it just got better - that has got to be the most comfortable boat I've ever...More

Just came back from a wonderful boat trip around the four islands. The driver, Phillipe, was very knowledgable and friendly. We had plenty of time to explore each island and the food was lovely. Would definitely recommend if you’re staying in Faro. Overall the trip...More

Brilliant 5 hour trip around the Ria Formosa Islands **

The boats used are pure luxury, like sitting in your armchair at home, real quality leather and spotlessly clean. They only hold 12 people so you're guaranteed a seat. Our guide, Ricardo, was superb, very knowledgeable and spoke at least 4 languages fluently (English, French,...More

Awesome islands experience

My wife and I hesitated as we thought that islands could be boring and there's nothing to see. We were convinced by the million of positive reviews and dedication of the staff, and obviously we didn't regret. Sandra is a great manager and Alex is...More

Yes! It was a fun trip and I see no reason why being a solo traveler would make it less fun...

Not 100% sure but do know one of the companies advertise all year round trips. Probably best to walk down to the jetty by the old town entrance at Cais da Porta Nova and see of the kiosks are open
