Fun experience making chocolate and exploring museum.
We were the only two people in the chocolate workshop. Mario was an amazing host, explained everything and made it making chocolate so easy!

    Fantastic morning at Choco-story Brussels!
My friend and I bought our tickets online the day before. This was great as it meant that we didn’t have to queue upon arrival. We were booked in for the chocolate workshop at 10:30am, Mario was brilliant. The session is great for all ages and it’s a nice souvenir to take home with you! There’s the added bonus that the chocolate tastes delicious! The museum was fantastic! Really informative and interactive. I loved the self guided tour aspect where you scanned each number to find out more about the display in that particular area. There was also the opportunity to try different Belgian chocolate, as well as watch a live chocolate praline demonstration. I’d highly recommend paying Choco-Story Brussels a visit when you’re in the city!

Fun, interesting and hands in work
First of all, always pre-book the tickets because the lines there are quite long if you don't book it. Also I highly recommend to go to the workshop because we got to make lots of different styled chocolate using the pre-made chocolate. The museum is very fun for kids and nice touch for adults.

    Delicious with lots of history
I enjoyed the chocolate workshop as the instructor was kind and guided us through what we needed to do. Got to make 4 chocolate bars and then some more chocolate creations on a sheet! Got a good amount of time to do it too The museum part was interesting too and learnt lots about the history of chocolate.

    Indifferent
I recently visited the Choco Story museum with excitement to dive into the world of chocolate, but I left feeling a bit disappointed. The exhibits felt lacking in depth or interactive elements.

    Great Time and Great Chocolate
This was a trip for my 10 year olds birthday and she loved it! The workshop was great and you get to keep whatever you make. The museum is very interesting and has interactive features to keep kids engaged, as well! We all really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it!

    Choco story chocolate making experience
You get to keep all the chocolate you make, and it was fun to learn how. The museum is full of artefacts and informative but would probably be pretty boring for kids.

    Unbeatable value for money
Amazing value for money, €30 per person and an hour to make as much chocolate as you can! Compared to the prices of the pre-made chocolate sold in the shop, it’s extremely easy to get your money’s worth. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the session was fun.

    Highlight of trip to Brussels
Excellent experience. The highlight of our trip to Brussels. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made our experience even better. The experience is very good value for money. You get to make unlimited chocolate for an hour and then take it all home with you. 10/10 would recommend.

    Very fun and easy experience
Very fun experience! You get to make as much chocolate as you want in about an hour. There wasn’t too much instruction and we got to be very creative. You definitely get your moneys worth of chocolate.

    Do not bother.
This was a disappointment. None of the handsets worked for the children, meaning a pretty dull, expensive and un-interactive hour. Would not recommend!

Really good! Definitely worth the money!
This was a really good experience. We had our workshop at the beginning and it was a fairly small group. The lady was really friendly and demonstrated how to use the piping bags and stuff. We got to make loads of chocolate like bars and lollipops. You could make as much as you could fit into one hour it was amazing. Would definitely recommend as you certainly get your moneys worth in chocolate!

The good points. There were no queues and it was possible to enter straight away. Having the very good value Brussels Card allows complimentary entry rather than the 14€ adult charge. Opportunities for a nibble of chocolate here and there. Very good location right in the centre of town.
Could be better points. The dreaded audio guide is in heavy use here. These devices cause congestion around many exhibits where people are listening to the same speed detail of the exhibit. One day some of these places will realise that many people can read far faster than listen to these earaches even if there is the odd joke thrown in here and there. Seeing people holding the device to their ear for lengthy periods and staring at an exhibit is strangely surreal. Reading a personal text guide (preferably) or display would be far easier.
Overall it was ok but I feel that the similar chocolate venue in Antwerp which I visited in November was considerably better. The kids around seem to enjoy it, so if they’re happy, that’s a positive.

We visited Choco story with our 2 year old and 5 month old. You can't take strollers into the museum so bear in mind that you will need to carry any little ones, and you do need your hands free to listen to the audio guide. We forgot to take a baby carrier which meant one of us couldn't listen.

It takes around an hour to go round the museum and there is a bit where you get to taste some of the chocolate and also see a demonstration of some chocolate being made.

I would say this museum is a bit more appropriate for older children, ours were a bit young to fully appreciate it. Our 2 year old enjoyed eating the chocolate but didn't have the attention span for the audio guide. There were various interactive screens throughout which she would have liked, but they weren't working.

Overall, a pleasant way to spend an hour.

The title of my review says it all. This is a small museum that has a great chocolate story, but it is quite dated.

Your museum fee includes a handheld listening device that you tap on several squares on the wall that give you the audio behind the exhibit you are looking at.

In short, it tells how chocolate came to Belgium and how it got the reputation it has today. Sad to tell you that the cocoa beans are not even grown in Europe.

The plus is that you get to try five different chocolate chips as well as a Belgian “praline” at the end of your tour.

This museum is always crowded. It was somewhat annoying that you keep bumping into other visitors trying to tap on the audio squares.

This would not be on the top of my list if I was in Brussels for only a day.

Several days before our visit, two people from our group inquired on site at two different times about access and reservation arrangements. It was verbally confirmed to us that we could not book for less than 15 people. Which, we later checked, is contradictory to the information on the website…
We were a group of 9 retired people and we showed up at the entrance shortly before 10:00 this Saturday morning.
No question of daring to hope to return even 30 seconds before time because the time is the time and we do not show the slightest tolerance towards the visitor in this regard!
As we had not booked our visit, we were forced to let other groups and visitors pass before us and therefore had to wait no less than 42 minutes to be able to access the museum!
In rare bad faith (even going so far as to incriminate the colleague who had previously provided us with the information), the two young people at reception were completely intransigent, not very open to dialogue and rare inflexibility... even forcing us to raise our voices to make ourselves respected!
When we force the customer to wait outside in the rain, we obviously don’t attract the public’s favor!
In short, after this long wait in total confusion bordering on chaos at the entrance, we were finally able to visit... while still struggling with capricious audio guides not really the most effective...
In the end: despite undeniable assets, interesting objects and quality scenographies, the visit to this museum was marred by an execrable welcome which certainly does not contribute to highlighting the legendary Brussels hospitality!

Entry was quick and easy after booking tickets online.

Visit included an audio guide which is necessary for your visit. Welcome chocolates were provided which were good quality. You scan each of the audio tiles which gives you information about the different sections.

It takes you through the history of chocolate and how it became so popular. Tasters were included while going around the museum and were self-access so you could choose to try as much as you wanted if that’s what your heart desires!

Live chocolate making is part of the tour if you are happy to wait. Show times are every half an hour and are worth the wait as the pralines are amazing and the chocolatier was entertaining. If you wanted to purchase more chocolate the shop is at the end and has bags of chocolate which are good value. Would recommend for the chocolate lovers out there!

If you’re also interested in beer, book the combo ticket for the choco-story and the Belgian beer world experience for the best value.

Many of us went to the chocolate museum for our photo club outing after information regarding reservations was taken on site and made by email. Unfortunately, the staff of this establishment did not have the basic politeness to respond to this message.

Worse still, we arrived 15 minutes too early to be greeted by a person who was clearly not in a good mood... 'The museum is not yet open'…. We were treated to a look of misery that no one could imagine coming from a person who was supposed to welcome the public.

Once 10 o'clock... we returned to hear that the groups of 15 people were going first. And when we asked and the situation regarding our reservation…. The person replied ‘our staff misinformed you and you can wait outside’. It was raining, but none of that mattered to the person who was supposed to be welcoming.

Finally, we returned at 10:45…. And there was no guide, just 'objects' to scan which only worked 1 out of 3 times!!! The price is also overrated for what it was worth!

In conclusion we were ‘chocolate’ and what a reputation given to visitors and other tourists who came to discover the history of this very good Belgian chocolate in a museum which is incapable of welcoming its customers who bring it to life….

My Hubby and I visited Brussels and went to Brugge for the day, decided we wanted to visit the chocolate museum. When we arrived got greeted by a lovely lady who explained they were full and the next available experience was at 4.30pm and we had to book via the website. So we stood there and booked and went for a walkabout as had 2hrs to kill before returning. you get given a little listening device which when scanned over each number plaque tells you about the piece in front of you. Towards the end you get to sample some of the chocolate (very yummy). The experience is very interesting and well priced. The only thing I would say they should have a notice outside to say you have to prebook and the website, otherwise a good thing to do.

Visit of choco-story Brussels on Saturday 14 September with my goddaughter: great! Trip Tip, take the group workshop for 35 euros. It may seem expensive but you will have an hour to make chocolate creations with all the material provided and, you leave with all your creations! Frankly, we made 4 bags full of principals, 8 chocolate bars and a whole bunch of creations according to our imagination. In addition, we explain everything in English, French and Dutch! Afterwards, you can take a tour of the museum which closes with a demonstration of praline making. It's TOP!! The icing on the cake, the animators-chocolatiers are super nice!

Loved this place. The only issue was a long wait to go in - no reservations available so we queued on the day, but the queue was quite slow.

Once we were in it was great! A good audio guide with lots of detail (without being boring) and a live demo which was worth every penny of the entrance fee!

The queuing system is a bit haphazard, it seems to take long time actually get in if you haven’t booked in advance. So recommend this!
Although it says wheelchair accessible it really isn’t. We had a mobility scooter and there is a lift up to each floor, but once on each floor there are 3 or 4 steps as it is split levels and if you go in the lift and not via the main stair route it is not easy to work out which way the exhibition needs to be followed and you end up going backwards. Some of the sets of steps in the split levels have wheelchair lifts, however when I went down to reception to find a member of staff to unlock them (they are folded up) I was told they didn’t all work/have keys for them. The poor guy was embarrassed and offered to help lift my mum and her scooter but there were so many it was not really feasible. This meant she only saw about a third of the museum and it is a story you are meant to follow through time, so it didn’t work at all. Total waste of money tbh. Even the demonstration of chocolate making and tasting at end involves going up steps and there is no lift on those ones. So they should not claim wheelchair accessible be warned!!
