About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Escape7803160 contributionsGreat tour with AstridI took a bike&bite tour with Astrid who was very kind, knowledgeable and professional. She shared her passion to the city's culture, history, art, food and architecture. It seemed that she really likes what she's doing. We had a great group, a lot of laughs and the bikes were really easy to handle. I recommend this tour very much!Written 18 October 2024
- Z8769HZstephenf0 contributionsRolling around RotterdamGreat tour! The meet location is hard to find; leave yourself lots of extra time. If you're not a good bicyclist - do something elsewhere. Learn what the paint on the road means and obey it. Our Guide was great! The food was great! Enjoy the beer but not too much, you're driving home!Written 12 September 2024
- philippah9620 contributionsPerfect way to experience the cityThis was such a fun way to see the city and to experience some delicious food. We went as one adult and teen children. They really enjoyed it, it was a perfect mix of interesting stories and yummy food.Written 21 July 2024
- vanessabU9338HO0 contributionsHighly recommend this tour of Rotterdam for adventurous foodiesMy husband and I had a wonderful time on our Rotterdam bike and food tour. Astrid was our guide, and I thought she did an awesome job! She clearly had a very in-depth knowledge of the city's art, architecture, and history and was fun to talk to. The biking was super fun, and all the food was delicious. I thought the amount of food (as well as three beverages!) was also very generous for a food tour. I thought Astrid also did a good job pivoting when my husband's bike malfunctioned and he had to exchange for another. It was just my husband and I and one other person on our tour, so I felt like I was definitely able to have any question I had answered, which was kinda nice. The only thing I would recommend is maybe marking the outside of the building a little more clearly. The directions said to look for a Bike and Bite banner on an easily missed side street, but there wasn't one, and there's no storefront exactly, so it was a little difficult to figure out if we were meeting at the correct place. Despite that, it was a delightful tour, and I feel like I got to see a lot of the city in a very enjoyable way.Written 17 July 2024
- Ozgirl20 contributionsRecommend bike & bites tour of RotterdamAstrid was an amazing tour guide - very knowledgeable but also a fun person to spend time with. We saw the major sights, and enjoyed food/drink at the same time. What’s not to like!? (I was happy they had Gluten Free options too. Thank you). Definitely recommend.Written 20 May 2024

- johnpC6683SK0 contributionsJe moederHonestly if you want to go on a bike ride round Rotterdam, book this. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about his home town. I went to places, ate food and drunk beer that I would not have done without local knowledge. Brilliant. Oh and if you get the option, have a little drink of "je moeder" it's awesome.Written 14 March 2024
- Sightseer2952840 contributionsGood foodWhen you do this tour as a tourist is will be sometimes difficult to find your way. The stops are not named with the address so every now and then you have to use google to find the way. But the food at every stay is very good and so typical for Rotterdam.Written 15 September 2023
- JulieVacances0 contributionsPerfect Intro to Rotterdam! We did this bike tour on the first of our 8-day trip to Rotterdam and it was 100% worth it. It was the perfect way to get an overview of the city, along with tips from our excellent guide Wilhelm. Our family of 5 (parents with young adults) was alone on the tour so we could ask all the silly questions we wanted about Rotterdam and the Netherlands. Our food choices were interesting, with our favorites being the patat, the poffertjes and the beer near the Markthal. highly recommend!Written 19 August 2023
- Paul S0 contributionsExcellent way to see Rotterdam, with delicious food to boot! Can really recommend this tour, the app is excellent and easy to use. The food was delicious, hard to pick a favourite but the Super Crepe stop is a narrow winner. Certainly was not hungry afterwards we didn’t even go to dinner back on the Cruise ship. With all the food stops, bit of history and a drink included at the last venue this is great value for money, highly recommend.Written 10 August 2023
- B8441QEjenniferh0 contributionsAmazing Bike TourThis bike and bite tour was so worth it! We learned so much about Rotterdam, and ate and some very yummy places. Our guide Rob was awesome and delightful! Would highly recommend this tour!Written 30 June 2023
- Jonathon_vk0 contributionsAn awesome afternoon - thanks Tim!Had originally planned to do a bike and bite tour but our guide fell ill a couple of days before so Paul kindly rebooked us with the hike and bite group. Paul was lovely and kindly offered us a partial refund for the inconvenience. In hindsight, we were actually really glad to switch tours because a) the weather ended up being horrible and no good for cycling, and b) we got Tim as our tour guide. Tim was a really nice guy - knowledgeable and clearly went the extra mile to find interesting information and stories about Rotterdam, things even locals might not know. The food was great - had fries with mayo, dumplings, poffertjes, herring, beer and cheese. We also went on a nice water taxi ride through the Harbour. All in all, a great way to see and taste the best parts of Rotterdam in half a day!Written 2 May 2023
- LJSRQ0 contributionsgreat experience to explore Rotterdam and its diverse food cultureMy boyfriend and I booked the bicycling tour and it was not available due to a lack of bookings, so the host switched us to the walking tour (with advance notice and our permission of course). This was a wonderful experience combining insight into Rotterdam at various points and delicious bites along the way. We experienced a few areas that we might not have without the tour. The hosts at each restaurant we visited were accommodating. We lucked out on the weather and got to spend time dining outside observing the vitality of city at each stop. The app works perfectly, and we actually preferred the self-guided approach as we had time to stop into different shops along the way. The snacks added up to a filling and diverse meal.Written 29 April 2023

Absolutely one of the two best walking tours we’ve ever taken – and we’ve taken many of these. Due to illness of an employee, we happened to get Paul for the day who also just happens to be the owner of the company. Now every small group walking tour is also absolutely made better or worse by the company you just happen to be with for the day, so we again got lucky to have a great group as well. Paul did a great job of engaging at some point in the tour with each and every one of us and independently, we also did that with each other in the group as well. The tour combines three things which for us is absolutely what we want to have in the day – learning some history and stories about the place we’re visiting, wandering about to see the sights, and adding in some food and drinks. The flavors we tasted throughout the day were both traditional to the Netherlands and not. The herring at one of our stops was approached with concern by many of us but turned out to be one of our favorite tastes of the day. Poffertjes were also tried – and then by us tried MANY other times in the month after this tour. Rotterdam is a wonderful city and possibly our favorite of many in the last 12+ months (outside of Lisbon). There is a wonderful energy in the city that is unusually coupled with the history of an old town but with the twist of most of the city being newer. As a result of most of the city being destroyed during WWII by the Nazi army, most of the buildings and the architecture of the city have been built within the last 70 years. Definitely an anomaly in most of Europe. This tour is well thought out and impeccably executed. We got to try out several food items all day long, a beer to end the trip and seeing lots of sights. An absolute must if making a visit to Rotterdam. We even ended up going to a music festival after the tour with our fellow tourists.

Had a great afternoon walking around Rotterdam and tasting several different items. Willem did a great job sharing his passion for his city and the enthusiasm he has was contagious. His many anecdotes and back stories about the architecture and art pieces helped make this a very informative as well as interesting tour.

Our guide (Umesh) was very personable young man, and extremely knowledgeable about the city & its history. The food choices were varied and all were excellent. The walk was easy for our group (1 in mid 30’s & 6 seniors). It included a short boat ride from one location to another. The tour had about 6 stops & actually lasted a bit longer than scheduled, as we were just relaxing & enjoying a beer & some cheese. I’d definitely recommend this tour & I’d do it again because he rotates about 20 different venues & each tour is a bit different.

A lovely afternoon wandering the streets of Rotterdam under Rob's knowledgeable guidance. Tried some lovely food and learned much more than we would have had we been alone. Highly recommend this trip, both the quantity of the food and the quality of the guide makes it great value for money

This was a relaxed walking tour, we joined 4 others for a 4hr trek around some hidden gems in the city. We had 4 or 5 stops for nibbles which didn’t seem much at the time but add up to a full tummy at the end of the tour. Water taxi is fun and the tour ends just south of the Maas with a beer and cheese. Paul was very knowledgeable and the pace was just right with no rushing. All in all a great way to see some of the hidden history of the city along with some modern trends.

This was similar to the Amsterdam food tour in terms of the food but there was a bit more food. The tour guide Tim did a great job telling us about the city and pointing out the interesting sculptures and architecture. It was a great into to the city.

Impressive city. Enjoyed the guide, information, and treats along the way.
Great for cruise passengers. A 20 minute walk from the port to the start at Centraal Station ending back at the cruise pier.a good amount of walking with many city highlights including buildings, art, and statues.

I can't decide between the walking or cycling tour... Has anyone done both and can recommend.
Written 21 December 2023
We loved the walking tour, and it was easy getting around. We do also LOVE biking tours (did one in Amsterdam two days later). The people who recommended this food tour to us had originally signed up for the cycling, but when it didn't have the minimum number of people to do the cycling tour, they had to switch to walking. I think you'd be happy and fine either way. (Bear in mind that the operator of this tour does require a minimum number of people in order for it to 'make' - we had to switch ours to another day when our original scheduled tour didn't make - it worked out, but it was a last minute scramble for us to move around our schedule - just a heads up for you.)
What I really enjoyed about the walking tour (and I don't know if you'd do all of this on the cycling tour or not - the operator would have to tell you): going into a large food hall for one of our food stops - it was a longer 'rest', we bought our own drinks to go with it, etc....we also went into the local visitor center for a short film, and we took a water taxi from one point to another. I assume some of these stops might not be part of the cycling - so it really just depends on what you want.
We love (love love love) to see a city for the first time through a cycling tour and then go back to places we saw later on our own - but for this being a food tour, I'm glad we did the walking.
Also: keep in mind that doing a cycling tour anywhere in the Netherlands is different than some other cities - there are so many cyclists, and you (in my opinion) need to be a pretty confident cyclist to do a biking tour in Rotterdam or Amsterdam. Again. - just my opinion - but there is a lot of cycling traffic and you need to be prepared for that (the one in Amsterdam was slightly harrowing at a few points - all fine, but not the leisurely peddling you might do in other places). Hope this helps! The operator of this tour was great to work with - very accommodating and responsive - and the tour guide was fabulous.
