About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Dream524259508220 contributionsWonderful tour.We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with our guide Rob. He was very friendly, helpful and informative, showing us the Jewish quarter and sharing his extensive knowledge of the history and culture of this part of Amsterdam.Written 26 October 2024
- P2890NClindaw0 contributionsBike great, cruise mehThe bike portion was great. Skip the canal cruise with the company they work with and choose a different boat if you want something more interesting.Written 25 September 2024
- Chris L0 contributionsFull day! 3 separate experiencesThis is a very full day. It’s actually 3 separate experiences and you will be with different guides/groups for each activity. The walking tour was great. The bike tour was good, but a little stressful if you are not a very confident bike rider in urban areas. The lunch break at the cafe was enjoyable, and the hour long canal boat ride is was the perfect way to end the day.Written 6 September 2024
- sergiotY7840KD0 contributionsA must tour for the familyWe really enjoyed both the bike tour and the optional boat tour. They give you a chance to see the city differently: from the busy streets and from the canals. The bike tour guide was excellent: he explained the sites we passed by, he was patient and really helped us to deal to the sometimes chaotic Amsterdam traffic. It was a great experience.Written 15 August 2024
- AvBF74650 contributionsGreat way to see the cityLuba, the guide, was very knowledgeable and helpful but the bike shop might have wanted to ask more questions about level of bicycle experience. - CSalpini0 contributionsNo cancellations for rainWe didn’t end up going because it was raining quite hard the day of our tour — just be aware that they will not cancel it due to rain and they don’t offer refunds if it’s raining, so you might lose money if the Amsterdam weather doesn’t favor you! Or else you might just end up biking in the rain. We wouldn’t have minded a little bit of bad weather, but unfortunately it was heavily raining when we were supposed to go. It seemed like it would have been fun!Written 28 July 2024

- lesliekH5016RE0 contributionsBook with someone elseDecidedly meh. While I enjoyed our guide as a person, I did not find this tour to be particularly informative. An excellent trip which was great value for money. We were given around 45 minutes on our own at Zaanse Schans which just isn't enough time, a further hour at least is needed. We also arrived there before a number of the areas were open, so rather a wasted trip. The cheese tasting and clog making experience was excellent and the chap who gave the presentaions was superb. Edam is well worth seeing and our tour guide gave us losts of information when taking us round. The lunch break in Volendam was also a little rushed. It was a beautiful waterfront location but I wouldn't advise going to the recommended restuarant (De Lunch) as it was decidedly underwhelming and felt very rushed, a little like a conveyor belt! Our tour guide Rachelle was great, very knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions. A must do activity from Amsterdam. We also added on the canal boat tour which to be honest was a waste of time; it felt more like a ferry trip. I'd recommend doing a separate boat trip which may be a little more expensive, but i'm sure more informative and enjoyable.

Very enjoyable trip due to a knowledgable and entertaining guide. It was a big group in a double decker coach with the lower floor being people with a Spanish speaking guide and the upper floor English. We enjoyed all the destinations on the tour, particularly learning about and eating Dutch cheese! The visit to the coastal town of Volendam is quite short for you to order, eat and pay for lunch in a cafe or restaurant and get back to the coach. The other places we felt the time was adequate.

We highly recommend this tour with this tour company. A guide can make or break a tour— we were fortunate because Ilya is friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and communicated very well. He was also helpful to offer any information and recommendations, aside from the tour, to everyone in the group. Karen—-the driver of the bus did an excellent job as well. Bus was very comfortable. All the tour stops really enriched our Netherland experience. We especially enjoyed the cheese and clog making demonstration in Edam—friendly people and very authentic, fun, informative, tasty. All of the stops were beautiful, charming towns with a lot of history, and Ilya was a good source of information. I would pass on his recommended restaurant in Volendam called “de Lunch” however, as it was hectic. (Instead, grab some fish and chips from the stand outside and use your small amount of time to walk around the area). If you choose to sit down, the salted herring plate inside the restaurant was inexpensive and worth a taste. Not especially happy with the Amsterdam canal tour add on as the boat was covered and the windows foggy though there was the opportunity to take photos through open windows. Boat driver was very good—takes a special skill to maneuver through busy canals while speaking about the area to a boat full of passengers. That aspect was impressive, but I would take better visuals over being impressed, especially on a sunny day—we just didn’t need the enclosure. Choose your canal tour to suit the day’s weather instead of booking as an add on to this tour. It didn’t really save any money or much booking effort. Overall a full day well spent.

Supposed to be a lovely experience but was ruined and I’m still waiting for their customer service to contact me as I complained on the day.
We arrived early at the bus to discover one hour later that the guide didn’t arrive and we would pick up another guide from the next stop.
And from that point everything was rushed, the first point which it’s the most important point where you can actually see the windmill and how they can operate was cut down and we lost 45 minutes there, plus in every other place we had to rush around.
Even at the cheese factory the time was cut and the guy was doing the cheese and the wooden shoes leaving extra time for us to buy their products.
I’ve been there before not long ago and the experience was completely different.
You are then rushed to eat your food in the place that they recommend but at that point would be easy grab it take away instead than sitting down.
The guide left us and didn’t even show around the village for than go back at the bus rushing against time.
Definitely not worth the money and not a pleasant experience.
Do not recommend going with them, there are better companies a little bit more expensive but it’s worth the experience.

Dear guest,
We are sorry to read you had a bad experience and that the tour had to be shortened. The tour guide that was scheduled to work that day had a last-minute emergency (anyone can have an emergency) and we did our best to find another tour guide which we managed the tour had to be a bit shorter or might have felt a bit more rushed. We would encourage you to take the tour again with us if come back to Amsterdam. As said, we apologize for the inconvenience, these situations are an exception, but they can indeed happen.
Best regards

The trip itself is merely 3~4 stars. We spent so little at the windmill village (45 min) and a lot longer at the cheese factory (~2 hour), where I believe there is a comcerial association between the cheese factory and the agency that host the trip. Actually, this is the longest stop during the trip.
The group is at roughly 50 people. So if you want to get some exclusive information, make sure you stay close to your guide.
I rated it as 5 stars because of our guide.
Our guide's name is Kosta. He is excellent. He has very little accent but a great humor. I believe that he's be telling the same jokes and historical information for many times, however, he still delivers those information pationately to us. He not only tells stories but also interacts with his audiences. The restaurant sugesstions provided by him is also helpful.
When it comes to walking tours, Kosta always gathers people, making sure everyone hears him before he starts delivering storys. And he is always looking out for bikes for us.
When we are at the last stop, Marken, Kosta sugessts a restaurant. And it turns out to be really good with a good price.
Overall, €35.00 is really worth it. It takes around €20 for just a round trip to the windmill village by public transportation.

First of all, Raquel is absolutely amazing as a guide! She's informative, funny and an absolute pleasure to travel with! The first stop with windmills was awesome and we got there early with plenty of time to explore! Perfect! Edam is such a quaint town and we talked about the history, but I wished we had just a little more time to explore! The rest of the trip was a bit commercial, designed for tourists to spend money on cheese and clogs, so a little disappointing. However, it was a reasonable price for a half day of exploration outside of Amsterdam, and again Raquel made the trip an enjoyable one... although I did get lost in a crowd of tourists and had to find my way back to the bus!
The optional canal cruise was mediocre, although the captain did his best to add information and humor!

the whole trip felt very rushed and was not ideal for older people with slower mobility, by the time you followed the guide at the first stop to the windmills & listened to his speech you were left with barely 20 minutes to look around take pictures, goto the paid toilets and get back to the coach in time. next stop edam again you only had time to follow guide listen to speech then walk back to the coach no free time to look around. then onto the cheese and clog factory this was better and didnt feel as rushed. Volendam and Markem were not even worth visiting and again every thing was so rushed we were directed to one restaurant that had no dietary suitability for me so i didnt eat. all toilets need to be paid for so make sure you take cash and card as they are a combination of the two and you are not allowed to use the toilet on the coach. the tour would have been far better if they just did the windmills, edam and cheese factory and allowed you longer to explore at each location as it was you saw a lot but it was not relaxing.

The weather on the day was unfortunately rainy, blustery and chillier than ideal. We would have enjoyed the experience that much more if it was friendlier weather.
However, in terms of the actual tour, the guide, the comfort in the bus, the seamless planning with which is worked, etc, it was a great!
The tour guide Max (middle name, I think his first name is Ryan) was really positive, energetic, witty and funny, and had some great stories to share with everyone. He also made it a point to speak with individuals/families in the overall group and get to know them.
The views in Zaans Schanse, and the cheese making demo at Edam were particularly enjoyable.
We also did the canal cruise package after the bus tour and that was fantastic as well, the captain was really entertaining and witty with his comments.
Would totally recommend this for anyone wanting to see these places in a day, without feeling unnecessarily rushed.

This trip was recommended by a friend, who also went on this with us for his second time. He raved about it the first time, and the tour guide was the same great & lively person. Each of the places we stopped at, we’re really lovely and different from Amsterdam. it was a really great way to see other parts of the Netherlands when our trip was specifically to the city. He dropped some really great knowledge and I really loved each of the places we’ve visited. I would definitely go again.
It was a bit early in the morning, but this was pretty necessary for good weather & sufficient daylight as the Netherlands tend to be grayer. We stopped halfway through (at the perfect time) for lunch and i got to try smoked eel, which surprisingly I enjoyed a lot! Additionally, I loved when we stopped for the clog & cheese experience since it felt really unique to this area and had great servings and samples. Definitely stocked up on cheeses and jams on this excursion!
Overall, I felt like this was a great experience to see the country without doing much work :) great time all around!

We stopped in fishing port of Volendam for lunch approx 40-50 minute. There are mainly seafood restaurants and fast food eateries here however there are areas along the promenade where you can sit and soak in the sea atmosphere, wander through the shops and have your packed lunch.

Yes I guess so, the trip was not stressful and it only requires walking for a short distance to explore the sightseeing areas

Will we be walking around in Marken? Or it’s a cruise sailing by the island?

Hi, your age group says '0-65'. Is there a particular reason for this? My husband & I are 70+ & fit, would we still be able to participate in this tour? Thank you.
Written 1 October 2022
Yes- Judith R is correct on this, it is a great venture from Amsterdam centre, not a ton of time on the bus either and the tour guide was amazing.

We booked the Zaanse Schans, Edam, Volendam and Marken day trip with canal cruise. Does the canal cruise immediately follow the bus tour? How long is the canal cruise and where does the cruise end?
Written 27 July 2022
Canal cruise usually is an hour long circuit. Most of them usually start from the main central Amsterdam station area and drop back at the origin.
