About
A journey to the UNESCO-listed Jungfraujoch mountain is well worth the views, but it can be quite the hassle planning your visit. A guided day trip is the easiest way to visit Switzerland’s must-see mountaintop, with additional pit stops at Interlaken and Grindelwald for a deeper look at Bernese Oberland culture. Plus, you're sure to stay comfortable in any weather during your ride from and to Zurich in a climate-controlled vehicle.

Highlights
A guided day trip removes the hassle of planning your visit to Jungfraujoch
Admire stunning views of Alpine landscape throughout your tour
Entrance to Sphinx Observatory and Ice Palace included as summit activities
Round-trip transportation from Zurich in coach, gondola ride and cogwheel train included
What to expect
Meet your guide in central Zurich, and head for the charming ski resort of Grindelwald aboard a comfortable coach. Learn about the Bernese Oberland region as you pass through the Swiss countryside. Stop in Interlaken long enough for a quick photo and a hot drink (own expense).
Upon arrival in Grindelwald, first board the gondola Eiger Express of the newly opened V-Cableway, followed by a ride in a classic cogwheel train up the UNESCO-listed Jungfraujoch mountain, aptly nicknamed the “Top of Europe” for its incredible summit at 11,330 feet (3,450 meters).
Disembark at the summit for stunning views of the Alpine landscape from the Sphinx Observatory and a guided tour through the frozen tunnels of the Ice Palace.
Enjoy free time to dine or explore before re-boarding the train and meeting your coach for the return journey to Zurich.

Something Majestic
It's impossible to criticise a tour that ends up with one visiting a site that is awe inspiring.
Jungfraujoch, the summit, the Sphinx, the views, the ascent by train are all phenomenal. Throw the arctic sensation element, the ice sculptures and that is just the icing on the cake.
Note that altitude may be an issue. At 4.3 km above sea level I became very tired and breathing became a bit of an issue. Nothing that I couldn't handle though.
We also stopped for an hour in Interlaken on the way from Zurich. Interlaken is beautiful.

Dear N C,
Thank you very much for joining our tour to the “Top of Europe” – we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us!
We are sorry that you could not fully enjoy the time on the summit due to altitude sickness. A healthy body usually has excellent adaptation mechanisms that allow a relatively fast ascent to medium and higher altitudes. To avoid altitude sickness, we recommend wearing warm clothes (even in summer), to drink plenty of water, to eat and drink something before departure and to move and breathe slowly.
We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Switzerland and look forward to welcoming you back on our tours on your next trip to Zürich!
Best regards,
Best of Switzerland Tours

Not worth it. At all.
So - it says they may cancel due to weather. I booked early in my trip in case they needed to reschedule.
After 4.5 hours of travel there (plus 1 hour for a shopping stop - which always annoys me on excursions, does the operator get a kickback or something?), we get to the peak and it’s too windy and snowy to see anything. Seriously - 2.5 hours on a bus, an hour on a tram and an hour on a train and check out the pic below. That was the best I could get. Ridiculous. If this isn’t weather for postponing, what is?
Also our tour guide got really flustered when we got to the tram. Apparently they gave a group the ‘wrong sticker’ and she couldn’t figure out who to give train tickets to. We had to wait in the cold for 20 min while she figured it out.
Do NOT do this tour in winter. Not worth it.

Unforgettable
Feb 2020 • Couples
I must say this was well worth the price.
The guide was incredible, switched between languages like I dont know what and was very knowledgeable. We felt quite mountain sick but the guide assured us we were ok as he was himself quite sick each time. This is a once in a lifetime tour. Well organised and we are thrilled with it. Many thanks to you Best of Swiss.

Jan 2020 • Family
My family and I decided to come to Switzerland for the first time ever and this tour was just amazing. Our tour guide was very helpful and she even spoke to us in Spanish (since my mom and my dad are hispanics and only understand Spanish). It was very lovely, the organization and how everything was handle was delightful. I fully recommend it 100% if you ever want to experience the alps region.

Wonderful Tour
I totally disagree with the prior poster and I think we were on the same tour. This tour and our guides were amazing ! While it is true you can’t eat on the bus, there was plenty of time in Interlaken for me to get a coffee. I ate breakfast so I wasn’t hungry at 11. Then at the mountaintop, I went to a lovely restaurant on the top floor and had a great salad for lunch. There was plenty of time - over 2 hours- at the top to sightsee and eat. I would never want to plan this outing myself and totally appreciate the chance to see such beauty all arranged by others. Great tour and great tour guides. I highly recommend it. As to the price, you know it up front. Best tour ever!

Great views!
This tour had great views, but that’s just the beauty of Switzerland! I will say that the tour itself was mediocre and not worth almost 300USD. It’s a full day tour and you’re expected to not eat or drink on the bus. You’re given about an hour in Interlaken to eat a snack but that isn’t enough time to get food and then tour around the city. The cable car from Grindelwald and seeing Jungfraujoch was amazing! It’s definitely do-able by yourself and not go through this tour.

Dear mahalways,
Thank you very much for participating in our day tour to Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe from Zürich. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the Bernese Oberland and the Jungfraujoch in particular.
With a total duration of 12 hours, our tour to Jungfraujoch is our longest day trip from Zürich. Many of our guests highly appreciate the cleanliness of our buses, which can only be guaranteed by following certain rules of conduct. While we can totally understand your wish to eat and drink on the bus, we believe that it is also a question of consideration for other guests who might not be equally fond of coffee or food scents on the bus. However, our stopover in Interlaken offers our guest a break from the 2-hour journey from Zürich already behind them and the perfect opportunity to grab a snack, to do some shopping or to go sightseeing before proceeding. On top of Jungfraujoch, there are also various restaurants as well as a snack bar available for lunch.
We regret to hear that you felt that the tour was not worth your money. While it is certainly possible to visit Jungfraujoch individually by public transport, you would have to change trains no fewer than 9 times (Zürich – Jungfraujoch – Zürich) and would not benefit from the special group rates we offer (total price without Swiss pass: approx. CHF 350.-). Also, having a tour guide with you, who serves as a direct contact person in case of any occurring questions, is a reason why many people opt for a guided tour instead of an individual visit.
We hope that you enjoyed a wonderful stay in Switzerland and look forward to welcoming you back on our tour on your next trip to Zürich.
Best regards,
Best of Switzerland Tours

Plenty of room in January
Jan 2020
There was almost no line-up to the topmost observation point (the "Sphinx"); there was plenty of room to move around and see things. Experienced people tell me that there are usually huge lines at various parts of the Jungfraujoch facility, but we dodged them in January. The weather forecast predicted mixed sun and cloud, but the clouds never showed. Some experienced people tell me that Jungfraujoch can easily be stuck in clouds & fog. Be aware that start-to-stop took 12 hours from Zurich.

Beautiful views mediocre tour
Jan 2020 • Solo
I had thought we would get more than 10 minutes in Interlaken... but that was all we had and the Tourguide recommended we get coffee from Hooters. No time to see the old part of time. Only 2 shops then back on the bus. Not very informative either. With so much time on the bus I would have hoped to learn something. But it was helpful for getting to the mountains if nothing else.

Dear Eliza,
Thank you very much for participating in our day tour to Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe and for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
As Interlaken is conveniently located along the journey and is a popular destination for many guests, we include a stop in the morning. This gives our guest a break from the 2 ½-hour journey from Zürich already behind them and a chance to grab a snack, to do some shopping or to go sightseeing before proceeding to Grindelwald. If all guests arrive on time and traffic conditions are moderate, our guests will have approx. 45 minutes at their disposal.
Unfortunately, we are confronted with late arrivals every day, which is why the tour guides wait for a maximum of 5 minutes before the tour departs at each meeting point. While we fully understand your disappointment about the limited time in Interlaken, we think it is only fair to mention that you yourself were one of the late guests in Zurich and that the late arrival in Interlaken was no excuse for keeping the whole group waiting for you again in Interlaken.
We can well understand that over time it can be tiring to be exposed to shared information in several languages. However, conducting the tour multilingually is highly appreciated by many our non-English speaking guests. As our guides are not only instructed to share all information equally in both languages but also to take care of the guests of different language groups equally, this has hardly ever led to negative feedback before.
We hope that you were able to enjoy a wonderful stay in Switzerland and that you will give us a second chance to convince you of our high quality standards on our tours on your next trip to Zürich.
Best regards,

Hi we are going to Switzerland in may my husband has always wanted to see the alps in summer and go through on the old fashioned train. The length of this trip is only thing stopping me booking it I was wanting to know if it was well split up with stops and wondeeed if there were similar trips that were less than a 12 hour day. We are in our 50s very able but not great at the whole getting around on public transport without an argument so much prefer organised trips.

I booked your tour for November 19 and the 1 review you have from November was bad due to the weather that made a white out. You say that you will cancel a trip if the weather isn't good, and I understand that November is the worst time for being able to see. I don't want to have the experience he had of being on long bus and train rides with little visibility.
When booking this trip I was told that you could cancel within 24 hours, so you could see the weather for yourself. However, on my ticket it says that I have to cancel by Nov. 17 for a trip on Nov. 19.
Should we just waiting and book the day before? I wouldn't think that it would sell out in November due to the weather.

Hi! Just wondering how long is the coach ride on each way and how long do we get to stay in jungfrau? What time do we start leaving jungfrau? Will be traveling with a 5 yrs old.. would this tour be preferred than staying in interlaken for two days and work our own way to jungfrau?

I agree that it's a long trip for a 5 year old, but if they travel well, the destination is certainly worth it. It was a great excursion!
