- 175frankbc0 contributionsFantastic unique experience! The tour organizers did fantastic! They really stress the safety aspect of this tour and make sure everyone can ride a Vespa safety. Once we were out on the roads the route was fantastic. I never felt stressed and the guide takes you through the Tuscan country side on very easy streets. Lunch was also amazing on a private estate overlooking the Tuscan hillside. If you can ride a motorcycle/scooter I highly recommend this tour. Will give you a unique experience in Italy!Written 22 March 2025
- G3262ZBkatherineb0 contributionsEntertaining, educational, excellent! My dad and I had a great time learning some Italian recipes and cooking techniques from Luca and Lucia. We learned a lot and were also thoroughly entertained. I think the price was a good value, especially because transportation was included. It was special to get out of the tourist area for a little while to enjoy the countryside.Written 22 March 2025
- V115TMalanm0 contributionsProbably the best time I’ve had in Florence our guides were simply amazing. Lunch was perfect. This tour was the best. Ancient walls lined the skinny streets as we explored the Chianti area. Perfect lunch. An unexpected visit to a chapel being restored. Incredible views overlooking the city. A peaceful property owned by the tour company to relax and talk to our fellow travelers.Written 21 March 2025

- Venture246898725510 contributionsBeautiful ExperienceWe had the most beautiful experience exploring Cinque Terre with our guide, Gabriele from Walkabout Tours. From start to finish, the day was seamless, informative, and absolutely breath taking. Gabriele’s deep knowledge of the area, combined with his passion for its history, culture, and natural beauty, made our tour truly special. Beyond his expertise, Gabriele was warm, engaging, and attentive, making sure everyone in our group felt comfortable and had a fantastic time.Written 20 March 2025
- thuytranq0 contributionsWonderful cooking experienceMy daughter and I enjoyed touring the market, learning to cook and enjoying the fabulous meal that we made overlooking the beautiful scenery. Lucca was a lively, funny, and entertaining guide. Lucia was the Italian grandmother that we all needed to help us learn the classic recipes. We highly recommend this tour!Written 20 March 2025
- Mary Li C0 contributionsWonderful trip to Tuscany!Don’t skip this day trip if you want to see Tuscany! Our guide Alessandro was fun and informative. He provided great details prior to each stop. The local guide in Siene was also wonderful and explained the history and sights of her beautiful town. Lunch at the farm house was delightful and a nice way to interact with other visitors on the tour. Time at each li action was just right. The only difficulty was the meeting site in the morning. It is in between the transit center and a McDonalds by a row of trees. Look for the guide with a sign with the name of the operator. It’s a li g day and includes lots of walking but mostly on flat roads.Written 20 March 2025
- mherrington150 contributionsGreat tour! Must do!This was an amazing tour! The group was very large, but our guide Sarah did such an excellent job you felt like you were on a much smaller tour. The stop in each town was just the perfect amount of time. The lunch at the winery was fabulous and the views spectacular. This tour is a must. Sarah was so knowledgeable and provided a really great day!Written 20 March 2025
- John T0 contributionsDon't book through TripAdvisorBooking this tour through TripAdvisor was much more expensive than booking the tour directly with the tour company. That was the disappointing part. Otherwise the tour was quite good and I would recommend the tour if you are pressed for time and want to see as much as you can outside Florence.Written 19 March 2025
- robertmC7877VE0 contributions11 out of 10!You can trust the reviews! Alex was our guide and I didn't know that you could know so much about wine, haha. Such a fun and personable guy, as well. And the vineyards that were selected for this tour were excellent. It felt like we had each venue to ourself. 11 out of 10 all around. Thanks again, Alex and team!Written 19 March 2025

Mirella was an exceptional guide and her energy and enthusiasm elevated an already wonderful experience. It was a long day but flew by seeing the sights. - billandlisa20180 contributionsA memory for the books! This tour was wonderful. The views of Florence from the top were amazing, but the experience of climbing through the passages to get there was the best. The artwork and craftsmanship catch your eye at every turn. The guide’s knowledge helped to pull the stories together.Written 18 March 2025

Max, Arla, & Tiziano's pizza making and gelato class was one of the highlights of our trip to Florence! The site is ~15 mins from Florence city center, but it feels like you are in a secluded countryside. Max, Arla, & Tiziano are very passionate about their pizza and gelato making and provide amazing insight on all the ingredients and how to make everything. We went in April at 2:30pm and the weather was perfect! The experience ends around sunset. My fiancé and I walked to Piazzale Michelangelo afterwards to sit and watch the sunset (it's only a 15 min walk from this experience and would highly recommend!)

Highlight of our trip! Our instructors Max, Lucca and Temizon (probably butchering his name) greeted us with a glass of wine and a nibble - had us in stitches the whole time. A quick 15 min bus ride leads you to this beautiful farmhouse overlooking the Florence city and countryside - breathtaking! We learned to make gelato and pizza and it was all fabulous! The whole experience lasts about 5 hours - so fun - i would HIGHLY recommend this experience!

Upon booking our trip to Florence, we (my friend and I) knew that we wanted to learn how to make some authentic meals. We reviewed dozens of cooking classes and always made our way back to this one. We arrived to our meetup point a little early and everyone was so friendly and the check in staff was great. We loaded up and headed into the Tuscan hills to our cooking class. Cris greeted up and gave us a run down of the day and a little history on himself. We were then introduced to Arla and Tiziano. I don't think that we could have asked for a better group. Cris, Arla and Tiziano made the entire class extremely entertaining, welcoming and supplied us with tons of information to bring back home and make the same dishes. Everything about the cooking class was top tier from the beginning to the end. Without a doubt, after 12 days in Italy, this was our favorite activity. Our class was loaded with people from all around the world and by the time we left, we all felt like family. The Tuscan Farm was beautiful. Cris, Arla and Tiziano....thank you! We are adding this back to our list to do again on our next visit.

Crammed into a small kitchen area with nearly 30 other people wasn't the quaint "Tuscan farmhouse" experience advertised. It was loud and largely chaotic at times which could have been easily avoided had the group size been kept closer to 16 people. I think some late additions were allowed on the day by the organisers and this had a negative impact on the whole experience.
Extremely poor value for money (c£160 each). If you're going as a couple, expect to share a cooking station to make gelato. Given that you're paying individually, there's no reason for this other to squeeze in more people - I'd understand if there was a couples discount etc. I would have expected more 1-2-1 tuition for the price but this experience is really more "help on request" which could be fine for most people.
The actual cooking lessons were good and the two pizza chefs were fun and engaging. Overall, I'd have rated this experience much higher if it was half the price.

Even though you were unhappy with the number of people in the group we feel that your star rating was very harsh. You may be able to find cheaper experiences but they will not include everything that our class does and will certainly not be of the standard we offer.

My best friend and I had this experience booked for us by our travel agent. We almost didnt do it, as our itinerary in Florence was packed but are SO happy that we did. The chefs for the gelato and pizza were hysterical, charming and really know what they were doing. The tuscan farmhouse/scenery was gorgeous and peaceful, the food we made was delicious and the group on our tour was a blast. We received the recipes to take home by email, ate the food we made with the group, learned to flip the pizza in the air and much more. This was an experience that is unforgettable and we highly recommend booking. You wont regret it !!! A BIG thank you to chef Angela, Arla and Tiziano for such a wonderful time !!

This experience would receive a five star review if it were not for the Gelato Chef, Max. I hope the owner does read this and give him feedback about the importance of providing excellent welcoming, joyful hospitality rather than the abrupt, crass demeanor that he had. Particularly at this price point.
First, I want to say that in general we had a really great time, the farm is beautiful and we definitely learned how to make pizza in a fun way! The two pizza chef’s made the night with their fun and entertaining banter. We met some really great people and enjoyed tremendously spending the evening with them!
We started out with Max teaching gelato and his energy just sucked the fun out of the room. He was bland, condescending and pretentious. We went to make pizza and laughed and had fun but once we transitioned back into King Max’s Gelato Room the whole vibe changed. He even snapped at my daughter for pouring the gelato mix in to the bowl before turning it on. I was very insulted as a mom when he did that. This is not serious it’s meant to be fun!
At the end we all gathered overlooking the beautiful farm and laughed and ate our pizza. When it came time to have the gelato, Max immediately called out my son for putting “too much lemon” in the pear gelato. He made my son feel embarrassed and sad.
Please address your “Max issue” and I would 100 percent rave about your experience to everyone! Also, upgrade your aprons to cloth and put more vino.

I would 10/10 recommend this experience!
I signed up for this cooking class alone but quickly made friends with the many couples and families that were attending as well. After a 10-minute drive past the Piazza del Michelangelo, we arrived at the vineyard and got to enjoy breathtaking views of the city and the mountains in the distance. We were free to explore the gardens before class began.
The class itself was so much fun. Lavinia, Arla, and Tiziano were all so welcoming, knowledgeable, and hilarious! They were a major reason why the experience was so enjoyable. The free wine and unlimited refills also helped. ;)
Everyone in the group made a different type of gelato, and we got to taste each flavor at the end, as well as create a personal pizza to enjoy! The vistas, the delicious food, and the amazing guides and groups all made this easily the best experience I had in Firenze, and one of the greatest memories of my life.

This was a great experience, marking our last day in Italy - but not the last vacation in this wonderful country.....
Even for those with very little food prep experience (or motivation to do so :) ), the course was not only informative and well delivered by Lavi, Arla and Tiziano, they also made it a very entertaining and interactive afternoon for me, my family, and I am sure, the other guests in our group.
Set on a small Tuscan farm just out side of Florence, the amenities provided by WalkAbout Florence were of very high standard, and the preparation for the course was very well managed.
While waiting for the Gelato to set and the other Pizza makers to finish, we were able to wander through the veggi garden at the top of the olive grove, and generally relax.
I would loved to have stayed longer in this setting - very friendly and very comfortable, even for a hot Tuscan afteroon...
While one might consider this as a reasonably expensive afternoon, the experiences and memories we shall take away from this course left my family of three teenagers, my wife and I, feeling that it was well worth it.
Highly recommend this afteroon out.
Thank you to Lavi, Arla and Tiziano for creating such special memories for us.

This was an amazing afternoon/evening for our entire family (kids age 9&11). It was a short 15 minute drive outside the city into the rolling hills overlooking Florence. Nice to get away from the crowds and the heat. The farm is small, and the operation is built for these tours. Amazing patio overlooking a grove of fruit trees and vegetables. We started with learning about gelato, then moving through step one. After that we moved outside to the pizza oven where we learned about dough making. After making dough, we moved back to finishing the gelato, and after that we rolled out pizza dough and made/ate the pizza. Once everyone cycled through making pizza, we finished off with all-you-can-eat gelato as there were approx 20 people in the group with 10 batches of various flavors. Cris, Thomas and Tiziano (our cooks) were amazing. Funny, informative, and helpful. 10 out of 5 starts, would book again!

Written 21 March 2023
Hello,
Unfortunately it is not possible we meet everyone at our central meeting point in Florence and then drive just 15 minutes to reach our country house.
The access to the venue is on a private road surrounded by villas and it is not possible to park cars in this private area.
Kind regards
