- stephanies08990 contributionsMust do in Palermo!Giorgio was a wonderful tour guide on this fun experience!! He told us the history of pizza and Palermo. It was very interesting when the pizza master, Cesare, came to explain to us his craft for his pizzas. It was really fun to customize the pizzas and watch him throw it into the oven. Drinking some wine and dining on pizza with Giorgio was a treat as he also answered our questions about Palermo/his personal experiences growing up and living there. Highly recommend this experience!Written 21 January 2025
- Nerina S0 contributionsSuch a great experience! Highly recommendWhat a fabulous time we had! Our guide Giorgio was so friendly and enthusiastic. He taught us the history of pizza and he was so interesting. We loved this class cause it was in a real restaurant taught by pizza makers rather than a classroom situation. The owner George was so friendly and gave us a lot of his time and his staff knew their stuff! We got to choose and make our own pizzas after learning the processes. We learnt so much and had a fantastic time. We then got to eat our pizzas and have a glass of vino. Thank you for this wonderful experience. Highly recommend.Written 31 August 2024
- lauraaY8270SZ0 contributionsUnforgettable Family ExperienceHonestly, stop looking for any other tours: you've found the one that you need to take when you're in Palermo! Giorgio was an excellent guide who is incredibly knowledgeable in the pizza-making process, history, and culture. We started out the tour discussing some of those aspects, and then went to the restaurant where we'd be making our very own traditional pizzas. The master pizza-maker helped us go from dough to final dinner, and taught us all the steps in between for an excellent meal! I should also add, this was on a trip for my mother-in-law's 65th birthday, and her family is from Palermo. She had some information about where her great-grandmother had lived, and Giorgio was familiar with the area and provided us some great insight to do further exploring to find her family's roots. This was a wonderful experience for our family. I cannot recommend it enough!Written 18 March 2024
- CourtneyandTayl... C0 contributions10/10 would recommend! This was our first private food tour, and it was fantastic! We’ve done good tours in several cities we’ve traveled to, and this one was by far one of the best. Giorgio was amazing! He was extremely courteous of any dietary restrictions we possibly had, but encouraged us to dive into local, authentic Sicilian cuisine. His knowledge of the history of Palermo, Sicily, and Sicilian street food was outstanding. We walked away with such a great understanding of the culture surrounding Sicilian food. Absolutely recommend! It was very casual, friendly, informative, fun, and (most importantly) delicious! *Definitely take water with you - as Americans, we wanted water at every stop. **Wear comfortable shoes, there is a lot of cobblestone (this is probably self explanatory).Written 14 October 2023
- unson0 contributionsFood, Wine and ConversationWe spent a great evening of conversation and wine tasting/appetizers with Giorgio. He knows Palermo extremely well and is completely open and honest and willing to talk about any topic.Written 12 September 2023

This place also has a cucina so we decided to eat here as well, we were not let down. The food the staff were 1st classWritten 27 September 2022

- Sinéad R0 contributionsGreat walking tour of Palermo Old Town, with delicious wine and cheeseWe booked the wine and cheese tasting tour about a week before we landed in Palermo because it had such good reviews and now we see why! We met Guorgio at the tour start point and expected that there would be about 4 others with us, but it turned out to be just us that evening. Guorgio is a really well informed and enthusiastic guide; my husband is a historian so was v pleaded to have such a knowledgeable guide of the entire area all to ourselves for all of his questions! We started by walking down to the Quattro Canti, the centre of the old town, and then were shown through much of the rest if the medieval old town by Giorgio, who gave us much interesting details of the historical context of each street. I had booked us on the wine and cheese tasting tour because I am a wine lover while my husband is less interested in wine or beer but LOVES cheese, so this was perfect for us both. Guorgio brought us to a lovely local restaurant which is a very sympathetically converted old hardware shop. We had 5 glasses of speciality origin Sicilian wine, each paired with a delicious Sicilian cheese and a last palate cleansing goats' cheese to finish off. After this Giorgio brought us to a tavern in one of the remaining market squares of Palermo for a traditional Sicilian spirit to share, flavoured with blood oranges grown locally. Giorgio also sent us the address of what he thinks is the best cheesemonger in town both for value and for choice, as well as making sure we had the chance to take photos of all the wine labels! This was honestly the best possible first evening we could have passed in Palmero and Giorgio was a really great host. We'd like to come back to Sicily again for longer on a family holiday and book a car and contact Giorgio for a tour of the high points of the island!Written 26 April 2019
- vibcentporfy580 contributionsamazing wine tourI loved this tour. Excellent wine, good variety of cheese, stylish wine bar and super sicilian guide. Do it!Written 9 April 2018
- Adamandrew7890 contributionsThe secrets of pizzaDuring my time in Palermo I wanted to try different kinds of food but I also wanted to learn how to prepare it at home. The pizza making was well organized and me and my wife had a great time learning the process of making delicious pizza. Now we have some great new recipes to try at home! I am not sure we will be so successful but…….. It was a great experience and I would do it again!Written 8 April 2018
- EvelynEnglefield5850 contributionsGreat fun for the whole family! This Gelato Making tour was such a wonderful experience. My 10 and 12 year old boys LOVED it. We all saw how to make the gelato and then ate it. Never heard of Briosch con Gelato? You will find out once you are in Sicily, unbelievable. When we asked our kids what their favorite thing about Palermo was, they all said Gelato Making!Written 8 April 2018
- AmandaAbbey380 contributionsBest way to taste PalermoGiorgio was really great, showing and explaining so much to us about Palermo’s specialities. He also told us about the architecture and Sicilian history and culture. Gelato, cannoli, almond dessert, sweet wine, Setteveli cake. Such a wonderful tour with a good and creamy final espresso to help your digestion, as Giorgio recommended!Written 7 April 2018

We are really experienced food tour participants. All around the world.
In Palermo I wanted to dive into pasticceria, gelato and coffee.
Our guide Giorgio was on time , perfectly organized, everything fine.
He knew, what he was talking about, was really friendly, knowledgeable and very nice to be around. The hours we spent with him were really enjoyable.
We started with an award winning cake, had cannoli at a well known pasticceria, sweet Marsala Wine at a famous tavern, dolci at a monastery (my favorite location, being a real insider tip) and coffee at a roastery. The gelateria we wanted to visit was closed on that day, but opening times in Palermo are really special….
So it was a nice morning, thanks to Giorgio. A real recommendation especially if you are not that experienced in food tours and local specialities.
My suggestion for an improvement (just a personal opinion) would be to trade the first stop to a coffee with a brioche with gelato instead of the cake. More Sicilian and coffee is always a good start.
But we were happy and it’s worth 5 stars anyway.
And for dinner, Giorgio organized a restaurant table for us, that was really going the extra mile.
Thank you so much !

If you want to understand a country…its culture and its people…you study its history and it’s food. I visited Palermo, Sicily with my adult daughter during her spring break as a teacher. The foodie walking tour was to get a taste of all the wonderful pastries and gelato that Palermo is known for….but our guide Giorgio showed and taught us so much more. My favorite part was listening to this amazing storyteller who in three hours gave us, an all too brief, but incredibly personal view into the history of this amazing city. There are many different food tours out there…but this is one of the best and worth every dollar…
Thank you Giorgio for sharing Palermo with us…I was in love with your city the moment I stepped off the plane and after spending the morning with you I loved it even more!
Grazie!
