      Interesting and enjoyable
The tour was really well organised, despite how crowded the square was, the group was easy to find and we were immediately supplied with the headphones and listening devices for the tour. Christina, the tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging and personable with the group. Felt like she really went in depth at the art and history in the Palace and the Basilica without feeling overwhelmed or rushed. Would recommend to anyone visiting for the first time.

      St. Mark’s Square
Fantastic tour of the Doges Palace and Basilica San Marco. Our tour guide was excellent and she gave us free tickets to Museo Correr, a fascinating museum in St. Mark’s Square.

Great places to see but tour guide talks non stop
Good tour but tour guide talks all the time and we missed going to Musso corner which was part if the tour. She gave us tickets to go on our own later. Not ideal when your itinerary is already planned. Nice lady but accent is very heavy and difficult to understand.

Interesting look at city's famous sights
Really enjoyed this, but would have liked a little less of the time in the Doge's and a little more of the time in St Mark's Basilica.

      Excellent Guide
The Guide was super knowledgeable projected very well. She answered all our questions and seemed really passionate about Venice we really would not have had any idea or gut the most out of our trips to the palace and Bascilluca

Suggest booking on your own or using another company.
The tour only included 2 items with a guide dodges palace and st marks basilica. The basilica was closed, but no one told us even though we booked less than 24 in advance. The tour guide was like oops so sorry contact the tour company. Maybe they can give you a refund. We left Venice the next morning so no chance of rebooking. Hopefully will get a refund.

    The Venetian Jewish Ghetto

From the internet, many Jewish merchants and moneylenders visited and worked in the city beginning with the 10th century. Jews were mentioned in documents in 945 and 992 forbidding Venetian captains from accepting Jews onboard their ships. In 1252, Jews were not allowed to settle in the main part of the city, so they settled on the island of Spinaulunga (also spelled Spinalonga) which later became Giudecca.

In 1516, the doges, Venice’s ruling council, debated whether Jews should be allowed to remain in the city. They decided to let the Jews remain, but their residence would be confined to Ghetto Nuova.

Jews from the Levant, who practiced Sephardic traditions, moved into Ghetto Vecchio in 1541. The Spanish and Portuguese Jews also came to Venice in the late 16th century and were the strongest and wealthiest community in the ghetto.

I am so glad we booked this tour! Ilaria did the first (and longer) portion of the tour, taking us around the Jewish ghetto and explaining in depth all of its rich history. She was patient, personable and answered all of our questions. We then linked up with other tour groups in order to see the Sephardic synagogue (this tour was led by Sylvia). Also extremely informative! Please note that most of the synagogues are under repair and can't be visited. Depending on the time of year, they'll either take you to the winter or summer Sephardic synagogue.

The magic of Epiphany is repeated, every year - as per French tradition - the Gallette des Rois is proposed, an exceptional dessert prepared only for this occasion. On the web you can find recipes.
The dessert comes with a ceramic character and the crown for the king and queen that should be worn by those who find the character hidden in the gallette.
    The dessert is great.
Also tried other pastries of the house and coffee with very good results.
Note that the dessert is also ordered by Venetians and not only by French guests in Venice.

The problem with this tour was that it was NOT a walking tour! We stood in the square for a hour and fifteen minutes where the guide was showing us maps in a protected folder of the history of the area. In depth history lesson standing! The guide was nice and very knowledgeable but the setting was inappropriate for most of the attendees. Other than taking us down 1 side street to show us some markers in the ground commemorating people who were lost in the holocaust and then over 1 bridge out of the ghetto and to a place in the square that had some significant important art work, we stood.

Then a second guide took us for 45 minutes into 2 synagogues. I believe she was “certified “ to have access to do this. She was less than warm and enthusiastic. It was disappointing.

We were disappointed by this tour. It does not include visits into any synagogues. It was mostly a standing lecture by a non-Jew of some history of the ghettos. The guide spent a lot of time talking about non-ghetto subjects. After an hour and a half we left the tour and joined a one hour synagogue tour which was only 12euro each. We highly recommend skipping this tour and take the synagogue tour instead which you can pick up at the Jewish museum office. Visiting the synagogues and after David’s Shop after were the highlights of our experience in the ghetto.

Hi Nathan, We are sorry that your expectation was different from what you really wanted to see in Venice. Our tour description is very clear that this is a walking tour of the neighborhood and there is never a promise that the tour would be done by a Jewish guide. We clearly state that we do not visit the Museum and the Synagogues TWICE in our tour description: " Our tour does not include the synagogue because they have their own guides at set hours. You may consider booking your synagogue tour in advance – let us know." "Visits inside the synagogues and the museum are not included. You can choose to visit them after your two-hour finishes with your guide." Both of these descriptions must have missed your eye. The tour inside the Museum is didactic totally different from what we offer and I am sure there are lots of people who prefer that - as you did. However, that is not what we are aiming for with this tour. I am sorry that you booked an incorrect tour and enjoyed the Museum Shop more than a guided walk of the Ghetto.

Inside historical and contemporary look into how Jews were treated in this important part of Europe in the Middle Ages--as well as how the current community lives today. Wonderfully informed guides, expert explanations and visits to historical synagogues still in use today. Not to miss!

Sylvia gave a nice overview of the Ghetto throughout history. She passed the baton to another person who did the synagogue part of the tour. The Italian synagogue was very interesting. However the guide then started to repeat what Sylvia already showed us so we decided t leave.

This tour was mostly just a standing lecture with a very difficult to understand guide. The synagogues were closed. The guide was obviously very knowledgeable, but I couldn’t understand even half of what she said. There was not much to see without going inside the synagogues, so most of the time was spent standing and straining to understand all of the info she was imparting punctuated by short walks to a few notable spots. We left before the end.

This tour is nice, filled with fun facts and a good chunk of history. The ghetto is a very small area, so you get to spend a lot of time at each space and can leisurely look at the memorials and exteriors (the tour clearly states you need to arrange your own entry into the museum or synagogues, so don't get mad if that's what you want but don't get).

The tour guide was very friendly and answered all our questions, even staying a bit past the end time to chat. That said, I would have appreciated a bit more knowledge or discussion of the specific customs - both then and now - of the Ghetto.
