St Mark's Basilica After-Hours Tour with Optional Doge's Palace Visit

Select Date and Travellers
US$ 100.33
2 travellers
Explore St Mark’s Basilica without the crowds on an after-hours tour, and enjoy an optional visit to Doge's Palace, if you wish. Inside St Mark’s Basilica, admire treasured mosaics and a Byzantine altarpiece, and then follow your guide into the crypt where St Mark himself is believed to rest. Upgrade for late access to the Doge’s Palace and learn about the Higher Council Hall, the Doge's apartments and the Bridge of Sighs as you explore. Numbers are limited to 15 for a small-group experience.

Upgrade your tour to include a 2 hour late entry tour of the Doge’s Palace, including the armory, New Prisons and incredible council rooms and frescos of Palazzo Ducale. Traveling in small groups of 15 people or fewer, you’ll enter the Palace at the last entry time, finding one of Venice’s most popular attractions much quieter than other times during the day. (Please see seperate prodcut sheet.)
  • See St. Mark's Basilica in Venice minus the crowds on an after-hours tour
  • Tour the interior in a calm, fully lit setting with in-depth commentary
  • View the Pala d’Oro crowd free, and visit the usually off-limits crypt
  • Upgrade to add a visit to the Doge’s Palace and Bridge of Sighs
  • Group limited to 15 for an intimate, more personalized experience
What to Expect
Greet your guide in St. Mark’s Square and walk to St. Mark’s Basilica as you learn how its history is intertwined with Venice’s past. Absorb the magnificent façade and step inside, entering after the day’s crowds have left, when the lights are fully switched on. Marvel at the mosaics, all illuminated by the lights, and hear about their historical significance from your guide. Admire the Pala d’Oro, the Byzantine altarpiece that's often hard to see because of long lines, and enjoy special access to the crypt, the reputed burial place of St. Mark. Also, see the wall marks left by flooding through the centuries. Choose to upgrade to add a tour of the Doge’s Palace during its later, and quieter, opening hours. Explore the halls, courts, armory, and apartments; and cross the Bridge of Sighs to admire the palace exterior. Both tour options end at St. Mark’s Square.

Expensive tour but worth it to see the church in the dark then lit up to see the beauty of the mosaics on the ceiling. Excellent guide and the tour includes the crypt and behind the alter.

Excellent guide and church is beautiful at night - the tour was almost four hours long. There are several tours going at one time, but this is the way to see these historic and famous venues

Fantastic tour (we had the Doge addon). Allesandro is hands down the best tour guide out there. We started at 7:15 and finished by 10:45. Highly recommended!

We visited on the night tour. Our guide was very informative and gave us lots of interesting information. She used the headset and we used earbuds, so we could hear her clearly without having to huddle around. We had most of the place to ourselves....More
