This was a fun one. We had a great guide give us an interesting walking tour from the Grand Canal to the dock where we caught the ferry to Murano Island. From there we were treated to a glass blowing demonstration, and then (the best part to me) we got to make a bracelet from Murano glass beads. What a wonderful keepsake, I love mine!.

Free water taxi, worth a visit, guided tour interesting and informative, sales pick very slick, mamma Mia! The prices are expensive. Very expensive when compared to shops on mainland, at least it should be genuine from the factory outlet. Don't forget shipping may be waived to entice you. But expect import tax to mitigate any discount given. That's the only downside. Other than that it was very good seeing the artisans at work.

Fabulous to get to see an artist at work. The gentleman is truly a master whether with blown or sculpted glass. Easy pick up by our guide who watched out for us from beginning to end. Well worth the time and money invested!

The overall experience was enjoyable but…..
The don’t tell you that the bus boat is an additional 15 euros per person. The glass blowing demonstration was rushed with very poor explanation in English. It seemed she was explaining more in Italian.
The workshop was making a small mosaic on a piece of card with superglue or jewelry on a string nothing to do with glass making.
The whole thing seemed like a rushed ploy to get you into the massive gift shop which was actually remarkable.
On a positive note the tour guide who accompanied us to the museum was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about Venice in general.

They should talk about the history of glass making in Murano. As who do they export glass to, how many years does it take you to be a glass master. No interesting information was shared. It doesnt hurt to give the information in a story line and sprinkle some myths to keep it interesting.
The gift shop prices after the workshop are double the prices in outside stores. It should be the opposite since we already paid for a tour.
The tour guide who escorted us from Venice to Murano was the most interesting part in the experience. He wad friendly/informative/nice.

Don't recommend for young people. Really enjoyed the 10 minutes of watching the glass blower quickly make two objects. But the rest of the tour was lame and a waste of time. 1) Being escorted from Venice to Murano is something that some tourists may need but most people have already paid for the ferry pass and can figure out how to get themselves to Murano island and then use Google maps to get to the workshop/factory. 2) After we watched the glassblower, we were sent to a small room to do arts and crafts for 30minutes. We were given the option to use small bits of blown glass to make a small piece of jewelry, fun for kids I guess. And then to exit you have to walk through the factory's uber-expensive and impressive display of blown glass... a bit nauseating though to be honest. I think we should have read the description better of this tour before booking.

For a “2 hour” tour, it took 45 minutes to get to the Factory. The actual glass blowing presentation was maybe 5 minutes and narrated by an uninteresting gentlemen. Then we were shuffled into a room with another uninteresting lady to make a grade school equivalent project. The whole uninteresting tour took a total on 1-1/2 hours (with 45 minutes spent traveling one way). Maybe this tour is suitable for an elementary aged child.

Dear traveller
On the information is written that the meeting point is away from Muano. You can come by your own but very easy to get lost.
Workshop classes is a basic lever as described
Maybe you did not read with attention the description and you was expecting to blow glass

While watching the glass process was beyond amazing the rest of the tour was at best subpar.
The workshop was for children and the sales people were extremely pushy. I found that except for the signature glass pieces the selection was limited and better in the city.
I wish there was a tour that just let you experience the process and then let you leave!!

My wife and I bought several fantastic pieces at the Murano factory and had them shipped to the US. Unfortunately, a beautiful, but somewhat fragile, vase was broken in transit despite an excellent packing job. The people at Murano worked with us and was able to make the repair and the vase is perfect. They covered all costs of shipping & repair and "made it right" even though they did not damage it themselves. They handle business the way it should be done. First class!!

The tour was very disappointing, the glass making demonstration was only a few minutes and then the workshop was very limited with what you can do. I felt that we actually paid to go to the island just to tour the glass store. Wasn’t really worth the time or money.

Does this include price of water taxi or transportation to Murano

It does not. We bought a 24 hour ticket for 20 Euros each and used it many times to go from one site to another. The tour description explains that as well. In any case it was a very interesting tour. The glass itself is beautiful but also very expensive at the factory. We found the same glass in numerous shops on the grand canal that were priced more reasonably. Hope this helps.
