Magnificent day on the boat, also thanks to the crew in the person of the skipper Sergio and his tailer (I think that's what they say, unfortunately I don't remember the name of the good guy). In particular, the skipper described the various phases of the journey to us and the organization also included a pleasant lunch on board complete with sparkling prosecco.
The only flaw was the total absence of wind with a relatively flat sea which, in my opinion, made the effect of being at the mercy of the wind and waves missing but I hope to be able to do it again next time.

Taking a medium sized sail boat trip is an intimate experience because it can only accommodate a few people. WIth a sail boat, the captain has the option of allowing the boat to just drift, with the help of its sails or if it's a windless day, he can use the motor. So you enjoy a relaxed rather than a rushed journey most times.
Fortunately when we set off from La Spezia with Captain Lorenzo (nicknamed Gerre), it was a gloriously sunny day with calm waters. The wind helped us glide along the deep blue Ligurian sea and Gerre used the motor whenever he wanted to manoeuvre us close to the 5 Cinque Terre towns for better views. All along he gave us the history of the Villages and all the places we passed en route to them.
In a medium sized sailboat it's easy to strike up conversations with fellow passengers and the Captain because you spend so much time together sharing the same beautiful experience. Sun bathing is possible on the boat itself, as well as swimming in the sea once the boat completes it's journey past the 4 Cinque Terre towns of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia & Vernazza and is finally anchored off the last town of Monterosso al Mare. At this point lunch is served by the Captain [mainly an assortment of finger foods]. Drinks are available throughout the cruise. There is even a restroom on board.
On the way back, the boat takes the same route, but because the journey is more relaxed, the Captain allows those who are keen, to take the wheel and gives them sailing lessons. My husband was over the moon as he took the wheel from Captain Gerre and took on the high seas for quite a long time! [The lessons he learnt served us well when we did an independent boat trip in The Netherlands, later in the month!].
This Tour is to be taken to appreciate the sheer beauty of the Cinque Terre from the sea. You get to understand what the Poets and early settlers saw that drew them to these places. The perspectives and views of the Cinque Terre from the water are unparalleled.
This Tour is not recommended for those with sea sickness. You must carry your own towels and floats. Only life vests are offered for weak swimmers. However for those who are squeamish about swimming in the sea, the boat has places where you can sit and dangle your feet in the water.
Arbaspaa srl is a good company that offers well designed Tours and they have very experienced Captains in charge of all their boats. We were fortunate to have the young, enthusiastic and knowledgable Gerre (Lorenzo), who gave us an unforgettable day with great views, camaraderie, sailing lessons, ocean swimming and kept us regaled throughout the journey with his sense of humour and wonderful stories of Liguria and beyond.
If you want to have a memorable experience in the Ligurian Sea with the jaw dropping backdrop of the Cinque Terre, take this Tour and if you're truly lucky, you'll be taken around by Captain Lorenzo!

We had an amazing day sailing the Cinque Terre. It was looking like it might be a wet day, being cool and grey at the beginning but as we headed out of La Spezia harbour the day improved as we headed north. Our guide gave some pointers long the way - we could have done with a bit more but we didn't mind as it was such a lovey way to travel, especially away form all the tourists we'd encountered on our travels!! We moored off Monterosso for lunch - typical Italian fare of cold meats, cheese, focaccia and of course Prosecco and Peroni beer! A few of the younger ones went for a swim it got that warm and sunny!! We even saw dolphins on our way back - all in all a great day! Thank you

Lovely yacht and great lunch but…
11 passengers, 5 of which were under 14 and only 1 crew member!
One passenger brought 4 children, 2 of which were under 7.
No safety briefing or any advice where life jackets were, very worrying as a super yacht sank off Sicily in the same week!
The captain spoke english but as we were the only english guests there was little english spoken so we had little idea what we were actually looking at .
Very , very disappointing day .

Amazing day sailing. Our skipper, Gerry (Lorenzo) was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and kind. Lunch was phenomenal and the whole boat ride was an amazing experience. We met great people and were able to experience Cinque Terre from the sea !

Even though this trip for us ended with my partner getting terribly sea sick (remember your Dramamine!) and ended with a taxi boat taking us to land in Vernazza, I still loved the part I could be on. The skippers were professional and hospitable, Andrea answered all the questions the group had and I could see they had prepared for lunch. Also drinks and water was available. I for sure recommend the trip instead og going into the villages in day time. We were on a cruise and this trip is suitable with most cruise ship schedules too.

This sailing day trip was a beautiful experience in many ways. First. I want to praise the captain, Gianmaria, for being so friendly, outgoing, and accommodating. We were late to La Spezia, so we contacted the vendor by phone who in turn connected us wit Gianmaria. He graciously agreed to pick us up at his next stop in Vernazza.

He was the entire crew and did a great job of making sure all 12 tourists got what they needed. The day was gorgeous as was the scenery around the area. He stopped at a couple of places to allow us to swim. When asked, he provided commentary about the area, the history, and the local people.

I would do this trip again if I happened to be in the area. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and take this excursion.

Thanks for the great trip we had last thursday! The day began relaxed with much sun and not so much wind. With some nice stops to swim and look around to the different villages at the mountains it was already a good day. The chats with the skipper and sailor were nice. We got some nice food and meanwhile we learned some Italian words and they learned some Dutch words (at least we hope so :-) ). At the end of the day there was a lot of wind so we had a nice sailing experience too! Altogether: this sailing tour was worth the money!
