About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Malhaar A0 contributionsCristian the amazing tour guideCristian was an EXCELLENT tour guide for our coliseum and Roman forum tour for our family. He was incredibly knowledgeable, sweet and went above and beyond in every way to make our tour special. I strongly recommend you book a guided tour with Cristian when you visit Rome.Written 29 December 2024
- dorothym6830 contributionsOutstanding tour and guideMeeting point was clearly indicated. Easy to recognize the flag as several groups meet there. Efficient set up. Checked in, stickers and headsets distributed and guide ready on time. The walk was brisk and the Vatican has more than a few stairs and few elevators. Be prepared to get your steps in. I can’t speak highly enough of our guide Barbara. While keeping us moving, and together, and “ahead of the tsunami” she was engaging, humorous and above all, extremely well-informed. No idea how she kept up her monologue for 3 hours nonstop. Got us to the Sistine Chapel in time for a blessing; at the front (pole position, as Barbara called it) for changing of the guard. Prepped us for the Basilica, even though she was not with us at that point. Highly recommend this tour.Written 19 October 2024
- WalktheEarth210 contributionsEarly Start Is GoodOur guide was Barbara, and she was excellent. Knowledgeable, organized, and aggressive with the crowds. I think this tour is pricey but it’s a good trade-off to start early and get in before the real crowds arrive. Keep in mind that even at 8am, it felt crowded. I can’t imagine doing it during the day.Written 18 September 2024
- Flyer115373442180 contributionsTour was great!!!We did the Colosseum Underground/Arena and Roman Forum guided tour (in English). Our guide Barbara was very knowledgeable and passionate about Roman history. She was very articulate and easy to understand, and everything she explained was very interesting. We enjoyed the tour, and we highly recommend it.Written 28 August 2024

- DawnnP0 contributionsIf you're considering a tour, take this one!We enjoyed an excellent tour with a small group of people, seeing the Colosseum, the grounds/ruins around it and the underground area. Simone, our guide, clearly loves both her job and her city. She had tons of stories past and present, and loads historical facts to keep us listening the whole 3+ hours she spent with us, tons of things I wouldn't have expected to learn or hear about. She really added to our tour! To us, it was worth it to get to really explore and learn about the site, as well as so much of the ruins around it, instead of just wandering around ourselves looking for cool stuff to see. I didn't realize the tour would be so extensive, but was so happy it was, a huge added value. Tips - Wear smart shoes and clothes for the weather, you will walk a lot, and mostly outdoors. Make sure you book a tour that includes the underground area. Not all the tours do and we could see envious other tourists looking down wondering why they couldn't access that area. A lot of restaurants close at 3p and reopen at dinner, so when booking your tour consider the timing and location of your meals. There's a good chance you'll be hungry after tour, or you might need something to eat before. Its a long tour with a lot of walking.Written 4 August 2024
- K6314CJsarahv0 contributionsHorrible and super expensive not worth the moneyAvoid this tour at all cost. We paid 220€ for a tour that was supposed to last 1h30 and only lasted 45 minutes. We were two adults and two children. They made us pay full price even though the children didn’t use the audio guide as they don’t speak English. We found out when we got there that it is actually free for the children to enter the coliseum, so we actually paid 220€ for two adults which is insane. They never explained this to us even though we did tell them the age of the children ahead of time. The tour guide was in a really bad mood and quite rude, some people of the tour left after 10 minutes because of him. He was really angry if you asked questions he felt were stupid. It was terrible.Written 3 August 2024
- ctbluelineoutdoors0 contributionsGreat early start tour!!Very encompassing tour of the Vatican. Not sure i would call it a "VIP" tour as you are going through that the same time as all the other early tours. This was still a GREAT tour and would recommend it for sure. Here a quick rundown review: Tour was slow to start. First was St. Peters Basilica. It was nice going into the Basilica with few people in there. You then make you way out and around to the museum entrance where there were lines to wait in. We arrive about 815ish for an 8am timeslot due to the lines and walking. It's understandable as everyones trying to visit the Vatican. Once inside the guide discussed the sistine chapel at one of the several guide boards. In my opinion, this time would of been nice if this was done with a hand out of the chapel in line while waiting to get in rather then in the sun and spend that time to see another offshoot of the museum such as the animal room. Once the tour got on way, the path taken to the chapel encompassed alot. You see numerous sections and artifacts/art is incredible. Our guide did a good job explaining the art and the significance of the pieces. Your moving with periodic stops for about an hour and a half at which time we saw an astonishing amount. We went back to the Basilica with the guide after and paid to do the dome (recommend if fit enough to do 500 steps). Upon reaching the Basilica it was night and day the amount of people already inside. For that reason Going early is highly worth it!!! Like I said I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting. There were alot of people at 8am already there so I could not imagine what a later tour would be like.Written 10 July 2024
- S7153CIpatrickd0 contributionsTour Guide Barbara was the best!!We used this company for our tour of the Vatican. Our tour guide, Barbara, was absolutely incredible! She was super kind, knowledgeable, and extremely passionate about history and the Vatican. The tour included the museum, chapel, and basilica. I learned a ton from the tour and the tour guide was very engaging. I couldn't imagine touring the facility without her assistance and I definitely wouldn't have had the positive experience I had without the information she shared on the tour.Written 25 June 2024
- colleenrQ846MP0 contributionsTerrible Experience - AvoidBooked a tour with this company and mistakenly selected the wrong date. Emailed and called several days in advance to correct. Even though there were plenty of spots available they refused to make the change. We had to forfeit the full cost of the booking.Written 25 June 2024
- Q52030 contributionsNot a great experience, especially for the people who had to leave the tourOur tour was changed a number of times, but we wound up with what we wanted short of it being an afternoon tour as opposed to a night tour. Response time during exchanges was poor and had us concerned for a while and even worried if it would be happening but they came through. Our guide was Barbara and while she is personable and knowledgeable, we spent an extensive amount of time in the underground with more information about the elevator system that we ever needed to know. By the time we got up to the arena floor, she was far behind and we found we were to be rushed through in order to get to the Roman Forum before the gates closed. As a result of this, one couple in our group was told that they would not be able to keep pace as we finished the tour and they were essentially asked to leave. It is unfortunate that Barbara's poor time management resulted in these poor people having to give up over half of their tour. I think she needs to find a way to be more concise in her delivery in order to ensure an evenly spaced tour that allows sufficient time to get through it. Even those without slight mobility issues were hard pressed to keep up as we finished the colosseum. By the time we got to the Roman Forum, we actually had to ask for a break and a place to refill our water bottles. Once we rushed to get through the gates of the Roman Forum, Barbara again slowed down the pace and rambled a lot. I understand she is passionate about the info she is imparting, but she was losing her audience by this time and standing for an extended period of time to listen to her was no longer what the group was wanting to do, even to the point of some of the group walking ahead and out of hearing range. Her response was not to recognize that people were fading fast but rather to call us back and tell us not to go ahead of the group. Overall, we were happy to have been able to see what we did but the tour needs to be better managed from a timing perspective and for the guide to recognize that her audience may not have the same level of interest or passion in her commentary.Written 24 June 2024
- catherinelX7155UR0 contributionsFantastic tour guide! Company disorganized and lacking.First, our tour guide Barbara was phenomenal! BUT, the company itself was disorganized, changed the time of our tour three times, had more than 15 people on tour, and didn’t follow the itinerary as indicated. Whoever they have working now, they need to step it up and figure it out!Written 23 June 2024
- ralphsL6088LS0 contributionsRip-off shell company. Avoid.Tried to book a tour through the colosseum. Prices suddenly varied. Did some research on the company to find out, they're basically a rip-off shell to milk tourists for platforms like Tiqet, GUIDE and Get-your-guide. Basically sub an Eventim-like octopus, which is the epiphany of evil in show biz. :) We decided to book somewhere else.Written 17 June 2024
- arnoe4390 contributionsGood, but too expensive. Because starting in the museum at 08.15 ourIt's was not a early entrance as been expected, but still when the doors opened (at 8.00) we could fast skip the lines. The guide (female) was very passioned and explained a lot. Also questions been answered well. That was great. So it's wasn't a VIP tour, because of the 'normal' crowd around us, but we'll still could enjoy al the artwork. I think when entering the museum later, it would be more crowded. So at the end I felt satisfied, but payed a lot for it. I won't do it again, and I'll find a cheaper option next time to start at 08.00 our with a guide. They are plenty.Written 10 June 2024

This tour was absolutely amazing!! Barbara was hilarious, friendly, and upbeat. Amazing to get through the crowds and keep our attention in the early hours. This was hands down one of the best tours I’ve been on. I highly recommend! Go with this guide group- I also recommend guided tours as the lines are long and Barbra knew the in and outs and helped prepare us for the check in. Go on this tour!!

We’ve spent the most beautiful day in Florence and we can’t wait to get right back at it when we can. We visited the Uffizi gallery a 5 star museum in my opinion. a must-see while in Florence! I lost track of time while admiring this beautiful art and we got so much info from our guide. We’ve made the most out of it and asked our guide so many questions hahah, but he was very polite and answered all of them! Definitely recommend this tour 👍👍

I had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience with Italy With Family's VIP Vatican Early Morning Tour. They not only cancelled the tour twice, but their communication and handling of the situation were extremely unprofessional.
For the first cancellation, I received a Whatapps message requesting to reschedule for the evening tour on the same day, which I agreed to through text. However, the second cancellation came as a surprise when I received an email from TripAdvisor without any prior notice or explanation. When I inquired in-person at their offices about the reason for the cancellation, they outright lied and claimed that the Vatican was closed on our scheduled day.
What made matters worse was that during their VIP Colosseum Underground Tour, I asked their tour guide about the Vatican's status for the following day. To my surprise, she confirmed that the Vatican was indeed open and even provided alternative tour operators for us to consider.
To add insult to injury, Italy With Family displayed no remorse for the inconvenience caused by the cancellations and failed to offer any alternatives or suggestions for us to explore. By their words and actions, Italy With Family was saying tough luck, please go away so we can help the next customer. As travelers who had specifically made arrangements to visit the Vatican, we expected a certain level of empathy and hospitality, especially since we were already at their offices to partake in another tour. Fortunately, despite the disappointments caused by Italy With Family's cancellations, at their own tour guides suggestion, we were able to secure a Vatican tour with another tour operator, which further emphasized that alternative options were indeed available.
The level of unreliability, dishonesty, and lack of customer care exhibited by Italy With Family is completely unacceptable. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against booking any tours with them. There are certainly better and more trustworthy tour operators available.
