    Amazing day with Linda
Linda was an amazing tour guide. Not only she’s a lovely lady but also she’s very knowledgeable about the entire history of Matera and made our very long tour very pleasant.

    Not What Was Promised
There were good things about this tour. The sunset was beautiful and the walk fun. But it was a real disappointment for our group. There was an English speaking guide, as promised, but the expert in the area spoke only Italian. He spoke extensively to the English guide but the English speaking guide did not translate. In the end, they were only speaking to each other. We did not go into any caves. The guide said he needed 24 hour advanced notice to enter the caves but we made our reservation weeks ahead of time. The driver who took up to the park texted while he was driving us. I could not believe it. The trip was not at all what was promised. I do not recommend it.

Beautiful historial old village.... unique to Italy
Stopping in Matera was a last minute add to our travels in this area of Italy. it. We were so glad we did. We took a private walking tour which really was worth the money. We learn a lot about the history of this place. At night its beautiful with the soft lighting that has been placed on all these centuries old dwellings. (20,000 people lived here) Make sure you go inside the rock church and the museum that lets you see what life was like living in these hillside dwellings. The amazing part to me as people lived in these primitive dwelling until 1951.

    Do not trust this company
Please do not use this Company Four of us jointly booked a tour to be provided in English starting at 2.30pm with a maximum of 20 people. We paid double the price the company charged for the same tour in Italian at approx £60 a head for a 2.5 hour tour What we were provided was way short of expectations it started at 2.45 but we were then left by the road side in the park waiting for a guide finally the tour started 30 minutes late The group size exceeded the maximum with over 25 people on it We were the only 4 English speaking participants on the tour which the guide provided in English and Italian Although the guide worked very hard to provide a tour in both languages it was impossible for her to fulfill what we had bought We paid a premium for a tour in English not one in two languages We paid for a maximum group size of 20 We paid for a tour that started at 2.30pm not half an hour late The company despite my complaints say the tour was as advertised and no refund is due what so ever I have used tour guides all round the world and this is the first occasion I have been treated so appallingly and had to complain The guide was not the problem it is the TOUR COMPANY- do not touch with a barge pole they do not honour the contract they enter into I am taking action through my credit card company but this is an outrageous waste of my time and detracts from what should have been a memorable tour. The park it self and Matera are both wonderful fortunately we booked a tour of Matera through a different company who delivered a great tour

Slurry broken english tour guide are terrible
I was charged 60 dollars per person for a tour for my son and I. The company added two more person to the tour that was dishonest. The lady guide broken and slurry english with Italian accent that I could not understand. In the first five minutes, I decided that three hours of broken english was going yo be a torture. This a recurring issue, in one review here, Francesco is mentioned as the tour guide and the reviewer that there are times that the reviewer cannot understand his english.

    Matera a Must See
Francesco was our tour guide and he was very friendly and knowledgeable about Matera and Sassi. Francesco has a strong Italian accent so at times it was difficult to understand him.

    Very Interesting Tour
We did an evening walking tour in September with our tour guide, Barbara. There were 9 of us in total and the tour lasted approx 2 and a half hours, ending with some samples of local fare and wine at the tourist office. Items were for sale, but no pressure. As for the tour itself, Barbara was very knowledgeable and took us to such locations as The Cattedrale di Matera, a cave museum, Church of Santa Maria De Idris, and many lookouts as well. It was a great introduction to our stay in Matera.

    Discovering the Sassi
This was a great introduction to the history of Matera and life in the Sassi. Antonio was a very friendly, knowledgeable and fun guide. I did the tour in Italian but I’m sure the English version is just as good.

    Beautiful and informative walk
Our evening walk was cancelled so a guide offered to take us the next morning. The park was great and our guide shared a lot of interesting information throughout the walk. We saw some caves, got up close with a herd of cows, and came to a beautiful view of Matera. Very worthwhile and informative tour! Be warned that you will walk about 3 miles and there are mosquitos in warmer months, so bring bug spray!

    Sassi Experience!
Our tour was due to start at 5pm and there were only the two of us in the party. However, our guide was 17 minutes late arriving and was accompanied by her 10-yr old nephew who was not at all interested in the tour. Her English was difficult to follow so much so that much detail was lost in translation and we were unable to fully understand her answers to our questions. The tasting at the end of the tour had to be negotiated with the gentleman running the premises as the staff had finished for the day. In comparison with other guided walks taking place in Matera that we passed we thought ours was very poor and relatively expensive. For all the reasons above we could not recommend it to other travellers.
