The tour was very good. The guide was very knowledgeable and energetic. We sampled a full glass of wine at each stop, 4 total. Each restaurant/bar had unique tapas. Overall, the experience was very good! However, after walking into other restaurants/bars in Madrid, I do feel the tour is a bit expensive. An average glass of wine is about 2.5 - 4.5€. The tapas are traditionally served/included with any drink order. While we enjoyed the tour, I don’t know that I would necessarily recommend it to friends/family due to the cost.

We did the tapas and wine tasting on the Friday over the Easter bank holiday weekend so it was very busy, but this wasn’t a problem. You get taken to four different places to enjoy food and drink at both, you can choose what drinks you have at each bar, red wine, white wine or a couple of other options. The places we visited were all very nice and all quite different, I won’t say too much but it was a mix of fish, meat, cheese, bread and other mixed dishes. The tour is very much a social event, you get to meet other people from around the world and all the people on our tour were very nice. Our guide for the tour, Carlos, was excellent, really chatty, engaging, full of knowledge and friendly, he made sure the tour enjoyable for everyone and kept the conversation flowing. We thoroughly enjoyed the night and ended up staying in the last venue with four other members of the tour until they closed, we were literally the last to leave. This tour is great value for money given the knowledge of the guide and food and drink you get and a fantastic way to meet people and explore different venues in Madrid.

Pension in the centre of Madrid so that we can visit and soak up Madrid’s culture on foot. If walking does not put you off, it is a real pleasure to discover the city.
Our stay took place in June and we had an ideal time to walk (beautiful but in excess heat). Fast lunches in the afternoon on the terrace, taste the afternoon with delicious churros with chocolate sauce, in the evening good restaurants with Spanish specialties like tasty paellas accompanied by refreshing sangrias.
Day 1 - Visit the Royal Palace, count 3 hours. We advise you to buy tickets online before the visit, so you will avoid the queue.
On the same day, we visited the Egyptian Temple in Debod, passing through Plaza de Oriente and the Royal Opera Theatre.
On the return we stopped in the plaza de Espana, his garden.
Day 2 - Visit the beautiful park of Retiro with its large basin and the Crystal Palace, then we admired outside the Palace of Cibeles and its fountain.
Day 3 – We go to the old bridge of Toledo passing through the Toledo Gate, walk in the park of Madrid Rio, below along the river Manzanares.
We take the opportunity to also pass over the modern bridge of Arganzuela, right next door.
Day 4 – Visit the Arena of Las Vantas (Plaza Toros). Very nice visit we recommend.
We strolled on the main boulevards (Gran Via), pedestrian streets that are places for Shopping and we lingered on the busy squares until late in the evening.
Day 5 – Discovery of the LAVAPIES district to get away from the touristic places. We were pleasantly surprised by the street art in this more popular neighborhood.
Visit the basilica of San Francisco el Grande.
As our Pension is very close to Mayor Square and Puerta del Sol Square, we went there every day in the evening to enjoy the atmosphere.
We opted to buy a transport pass for us 2 that allowed us to make the round trip by metro between the airport in central Madrid. For the return to the airport, an extra charge of 3€ is payable on the vending machines.
Madrid is a very nice, dynamic, lively city, with restaurants, bars, open from morning to night, people eat there at all hours. People are cool and smiling We felt totally safe, especially in the evening. However, watch out for pickpockets. We are delighted with our stay.

What a fantastic few hours spent around some of the wonderful Tapas bars we wouldn’t have discovered ourselves. Carlos was very friendly and spoke excellent English. His enthusiasm for the food and wine we enjoyed was clear to see as he described each dish and origin of the 4 wines we tried in each of the 4 tapas bars and restaurants we visited, a fantastic way to get acquainted with some places where the locals go to eat and drink. Carlos was a fantastic host, highly recommended!

Extraordinary wine, delicious tapas, and terrific guide of the city! I highly recommend this tour. My husband and I were the only ones for this daytime slot and Paula really did a great job showing us the city, giving us the history behind landmarks, and providing suggestions on other things we could do during our visit. Paula was very knowledgeable about the Spanish wines that we had and did a fantastic job ordering tapas that we truly enjoyed (and would not have known to order on our own!) Thank you for an amazing afternoon!

we were a small group of ten any more might have been too much, we met and our guide introduced himself, with a few ice breaker questions, then we introduced ourselves to each other and off we went to visit the local taps bars. the format was pretty much the same with the history of the bar and then an explanation of the wine. our guide was very knowledgeable regarding Spanish wines and wasn't just reading from a script , he definitely seemed to know his stuff. the tapas was explained when it arrived and was very varied, those with a normal appetite would be satisfied at the end of the tour! the tour lasted just over 2.5 hours and we were then left as a group to chat for a while whilst our guide made his retreat. you could, I suppose do this tour yourselves much cheaper as I didn't find Madrid to be an expensive city compared to other cities we have visited, but as I said earlier the guide was very knowledgeable and worth the extra we paid.

My friends and I went on this Wine and Tapas tour on our last night in Madrid, and we are so glad we did. There was PLENTY of food and wine (we were stuffed and a little tipsy!) and the opportunity to see the city through the eyes of a local is truly priceless. We definitely felt like it was worth the money, if not only to discover some incredible Spanish wines! Rodrigo was a perfect guide. Funny, charming, passionate, and extremely knowledgeable about all that Madrid has to offer. I can not recommend this tour highly enough!

I’ve been coming to Madrid for years, and did not think I would learn much from this tour as I feel I know a lot of bars and restaurants in the area. At the Ribera del Duero tour (highly recommended), one of the guests recommended this tapas and wine tour and I thought, why not? I’m so glad I took the tour, because not only did I discover new venues that I had not been to before, but learned a lot about wine and good, and also passed a very enjoyable evening.
I met the guide, Carlos, at the Plaza Santa Ana by the bronze statue of Lorca. We were joined by another participant. A third was running late but we arranged to meet him at the first venue.
The first stop was El Fontan, an Asturian restaurant tgst I’ve walked by dozens of times but never thought of stopping in (mistake!). We had a lovely Mencia wine and some dry cider poured up high. I was not expecting such a delicious and bountiful spread of food, but we were served eggplant with honey, 2 types of croquetas, and a strong cabrales cheese.
The second stop was a stealthy venue I would never have discovered otherwise. La Venencia is a sherry bar that has been around since the 1920’s! Hemingway was a fan. We were escorted down into the cave and were served a beautiful manzanilla and more food- aged Manchego cheese, cecina, mojama as well as olives and marcona almonds, all perfect with the wine.
The third place is one I’m well-familiar with as I’ve been going there for years, La Casa del Abuelo. We went to the original one (they’ve expanded and now have 5 restaurants). The restaurant is family-owned and they serve their own proprietary wine. We were served a bubbling dish of gambas al ajillo and patata bravas with our wine.
The fourth and last stop was to a place that I would never have thought about going to, as I generally avoid places frequented by so many tourists. Los Galayos is a restaurant in Plaza Mayor. We sat inside and prior to this visit I had no idea if how lovely it was. We had cava along with more divine food: squid with eggs, tortilla de patata (Carlos said it was second only to his mother’s!), Torreznos (deep fried pork belly) and gif dessert, torrijas, a sort of French toast with turron ice cream.
What else can I say? It was a wonderful experience, well worth the price.
I must mention that our guide Carlos was extremely professional, patient and personable.
I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

This was an absolutely perfect way to see the city and visit some more local places you might not find on your own. Do not eat a lot before this and don't plan to have a meal right after, because you will be full! Our tour guide was Carlos, and he was amazing!
We stopped at 4 places and got a background of each place, which was really cool to learn about. At each place we had several tapas (big portions for the group) and a drink choice (wine is recommended but can have beer/soda/water etc).
Every place was unique in its own way and filled with locals which was super cool (we did do this on a Saturday though, so not sure how it would be on a week day). The tour guide made sure to ask if we had any allergies/food restrictions, and he remembered throughout the duration of the day. It lasted about 3 hours, which was the perfect time.
Was not an awful lot of walking as all places were pretty close by, and you do not travel too far from the starting point.
Overall highly recommend, would definitely do this again when in Madrid!

Dinner, clearly. All of the tapas establishments we visited had an energetic feel, both from the travelers on our tour and other patrons. Additionally, all were located in vibrant, active parts of Madrid, so we felt the energy from neighboring establishments.

Hello - we have a group of 15 ppl in our group looking to do the tour. Would it be possible to add 2 more to the 13 person limit by chance?

Hi we are group of 55 people, can we do one group or do we need to be in few small groups? if its few small group than can we have at the same time?
Written 25 January 2022
However, I bet they could get multiple guides and break you up into smaller groups. You would not all be at one restaurant/bar at one time as each group would be at a different venue at different times but you'd at least all have the same experience.
