Itinerary

Join your guide and board an air-conditioned coach in central Barcelona for a drive up the mountain of Montserrat, admiring its saw-toothed peaks. Along the way, hear about Montserrat’s Royal Basilica and Monastery, famous as the home of the Black Madonna (La Moreneta), a revered 12th century statue of the Virgin Mary.

On arrival, savor the panoramas over Barcelona and the countryside, and after an introduction to Montserrat, explore as you want. Admire the basilica inside and out, see and learn about the Black Madonna, and, if time allows, climb to the grotto where it’s believed the statue was found.

Enjoy entry to Montserrat’s audio-visual museum, and choose to sample and purchase the monastery’s homemade liquors at the gift shop. Depending on the date of your visit, you may also hear a recital by Montserrat’s acclaimed Escolania boys’ choir.

Your trip concludes with a coach drop-off back in central Barcelona.

Communication to be improved

Overall, disappointed. The meetup location on TripAdvisor says "a central Barcelona location." The actual location isn't listed. I thought the confirmation email might have additional information--but it didn't. I tried calling the "Julia Travel" office, however, never spoke to an agent. The website says hours...More

Disappointed

Good points first: Our tour guide, who was fluent in English, was knowledgeable and the views as we ascended the mountains, impressive. The historic property and sites were intriguing and the monastery was absolutely beautiful. Disappointments: When we reached our destination (in a packed bus),...More

Hello, the pick up point is at Julia Travel’s office in Balmes street near Plaça Catalunya. You’ll have to check-in there (at the office), then a guide will take the group towards the bus.
