- Bloaker0 contributionsFantastic experience! This was an amazing experience and I dare to say a must-go-to when visiting Tenerife. We were picked up at our hotel with a touring bus by driver Eduardo and guide Nico. The way up to the El Teide National park was already a treat. Nico told us lots of information about the island. We stopped few times for some really nice photospots. Then after a toilet break and time for some coffee at the really nice Papillon restaurant, we went into the National park. Nico told us a lot about the vulcano's and the landscape in a funny and clear way. The views were awesome. After a few photo moments we went towards the spot for the sunset. Since the sun doesn't wait on anyone, Nico very patiently and friendly made sure we were all on time back in the bus. The sunset was epic, we were handed a glass of cava and the spot was great. Amazing moment the sun went down. Tip: Make sure you have extra clothing with you, because when the sun is gone, it starts to get cold real fast. After the sunset we went back to the Papillon restaurant for a nice meal. After the meal we were taken to a spot where they set up some telescopes. They let us see a few different spots, which was really epic! Saw the ring around Saturn, fantastic sight! After that, the actual star gazing began. Nico pointed out several constellations and told a lot of nice facts. The sky is so filled with stars, really fantastic. We were dropped of at the hotel around midnight. This was an amazing experience, can recommend it to everyone visiting Tenerife! You will not regret it!Written 30 September 2024
- 818dasg0 contributionsTeneriffe Highlight Experience"Teide by Night" was a great experience. In the comfortable and air-conditioned coach, our group was driven to the national park after pick-up near the hotel. The timing and locations for breaks and photo stops were very good, the tour guide explained very well during the journey and at night when observing the stars and provided extensive information on a wide variety of areas. The star observation and the sundowner at 2300 m altitude were definitely the highlight of this year's trip to Tenerife.Written 23 August 2024

- Extraordinarypeople0 contributionsDisappointedWent onthe star gazing tour on June 6th this year. But was disappointed as it looked like it was a prejecter showing the stars didn't look real. Wodant recommended to book . Very expensive for what it is.Written 21 June 2024

- 81elainek0 contributionsStargazing on Mount TeideWhat a great trip! Good options for local pick up. Brand new bus, very clean. Great guide in Nico and excellent driving (can't recall his name). Very knowledgeable about the national park and the constellations. The stop offs weren't too bad.....not ridiculous prices and clean venues. Food was ok and the wine plentiful with the meal. Cava provided during one of the stop offs with plenty of top ups. Overall, excellent value for money and we would recommend going with this companyWritten 19 January 2024
- beckycW4122IL0 contributionsBest excursion we’ve done so far! What an excellent day! This excursion was worth every penny and more. There was so much detail and information but not overwhelming. The mulled wine, cava and blankets was an excellent touch to the sunset part of the tour. Ruban was our driver who was very funny and Elena was our guide who was very kind and informative and had great humour. Absolute gorgeous views of the sunset. The stargazing was my favourite part. The largest amount of stars I have ever seen! My top tip would be to bring layers with you as it gets rather cold the higher you go. Even if you think you have reduced mobility, the tour is still suitable for you, you can choose you can stay on the coach if you want, yet the walks that we did were fine for all abilities. The longest walk we had to do was literally 5 minutes to a coffee shop! The meal was a little bit of a let down but we weren’t there for that. One of the best excursions we’ve done on our holiday!Written 18 January 2024
- tracyskinner20 contributionsUnforgettable TripWe booked this trip through our hotel TUI Rep. this is without doubt the best trip we have been on for a long time. Our driver was Oswaldo, who was so helpful and a very good driver: we felt safe and confident with him. He even found an iPhone charger for me to use. Our guide Isabelle was very experienced, funny, appropriate and very knowledgeable about the area, flora and forna! When it came to the star gazing we were blown away by her knowledge. She has the skills to include all in group, taking photos of couples etc. The ‘ telescope’ man was really helpful and I am sorry we have forgotten his name, but he was goid. The whole trip was an unforgettable trip. Both Oswaldo and Isabelle were terrific, thank youWritten 14 January 2024
- Jordan70560 contributionsIsobel was fantasticJust to congratulate Isobel and her colleague on providing five star care whilst sharing her vast knowledge locally and indeed her very impressive stargazing skills. From the moment they both welcomed us aboard the spotless coach which indeed reflected not only his onboard housekeeping efforts but his driving was safe and courteous to all . Isobel was a fantastic ambassador to us all insuring everyone was well tended and involved . Her quite obvious customer care focused on providing a truly memorable experience. Again thank you both for making this a special day. Finally Isobel’s connection to nature and our world bought a huge smile to all like minded Kind wishes The bee whispererWritten 13 January 2024
- coshes0 contributionsBeautiful Nature 💫🌟What an amazing experience from beginning to end x Our guide was Isabelle…such a wealth of knowledge and passion for both earth and skies x also a very humorous lady. Our driver ( whose name escapes me) was also brilliant throughout the trip x such skilled driving. Cava, mulled wine and orange juice were provided (and continually topped up by our hosts) to toast the beautiful sunset x Our 3rd time in Tenerife, and first on Teide…should have done it sooner…definitely a must for those humming and har’ing about doing it 🙌🌞💫Written 13 January 2024
- LeicesterRed0 contributionsA fantastic trip.A lovely evening trip lead by our informative and entertaining guide Elena. A spectacular sunset above the clouds , accompanied by free flowing cava, was followed by a nice meal at the highest restaurant in Spain (again accompanied by free flowing wine if you wanted!) Stargazing followed where we had fantastic views of planets and nebulae through the telescopes provided. Again Elena provided a fascinating commentary. A relaxing, enjoyable, educational trip with great hosts in the bus driver and Elena. Highly recommended. (Take warm clothes for the stargazing!)Written 7 January 2024
- Clive R0 contributionsIsobel the tour's star of the fermamentThis journey into the stunning vista of a truly dark sky protected by the prohibition of man's light pollution is a rare and wonderful sight in this modern day and age. Starting with a sunset sinking below a cloud horizon followed by a sky infinite in depth penetrated by myriads of stars dancing in the relativity of spacetime. All of this augmented by the narrative of the informative and enthusiastic Isobel. Does she write her own stuff? Never a dull moment, she remembers her motley charges with a special word or joke for each making all feel that someone does love them after all. She's an astronomical teacher of this 28 degree latitude. Let's not forget the driver, ironically his name I missed (deaf), who guided the behemoth of a starship with consummate skill up and down the side of Tenerife's volcano. A must for those mesmerised by the mystery of the cosmosWritten 15 December 2023
- flopsy19590 contributionsAwesomeWell organised. My husband and I had the most amazing day out, Tanya our guide was very informative and took care of all her visiting guests. We booked through TUI and were picked up from our hotel near Los Gigantes at 1.30pm. Although there was a few pickups, all were in the nearby area. It was about an hour before the first proper stop at a cafe halfway up the mountain, followed by a couple of shorter photo stops and then we made a longer stop at Roques de Garcia. After this went down the mountain slightly to watch the sunset and have a drink of Cava and Mulled Wine. It was a bit cloudy but beautiful nonetheless. After that we made a stop for dinner at Restaurante Papillion. The food was included and was very nice, the first course was soup, the main was pork and potato (vegetarian option was vegetable lasagna) and dessert was a chocolate brownie. They do cater for any food allergies. You are sat on large round tables with people from your bus. After dinner we went to a lay-by to do the stargazing. Although cloudy you could see the stars really clearly and Pepe our guide was very knowledgeable. It was very cold so wrap up warm, although they do provide blankets. Overall it was a great experience, the only downside was that due to the time of day you couldn't go up on the cable car to the crater. Thank you to Pepe and also Dorta who expertly drove the bus up some very windy roads.

I booked the Teide by night through elegant excursions which was for a day Excursion to see the sunset on the teide followed by stargazing. We had a fabulous day and night with Leon the driver and Ferdinand our guide. Ferdinand made it knowledgeable and a fun experience. The meal before stargazing was very tasty I'm well produced by the team at Papillon, well worth the money and would recommend it to anyone.

A surreal experience. Driving through the national park was amazing and there was plenty of jaw dropping scenery along the way. We booked through TUI and had a English speaking guide that was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. We stopped at several viewpoints on our way up with plenty of time to look around and take a few pictures. We then arrived at the restaurant (Papillon). The only negative information we found online before the excursion was about this restaurant but I honestly thought the food was really tasty and staff were as helpful as they could be despite not speaking any English. Any negative reviews are simply people thinking they would be served Michelin star standard food at a 2500m altitude restaurant, which obviously isn't the case. There was more wine than we could drink as well as a whole bottle of Fanta and Coke on the table between 8 people. There was even a little gift shop at the front where you could buy a quite reasonably priced souvenir.
After this you watch the most beautiful sunset over the clouds, which is very surreal. You are also given a glass of Cava to enjoy whilst watching it. You then briefly stop at Papillon again for another glass of Cava or hot chocolate (strongly recommend the hot chocolate) on your way to star gazing. Again the stargazing was amazing and I was shocked at how much the guide new. I thought she would just point out a couple of stars but she knew the whole background story about most things in the night sky. We then looked through telescopes at a few different constellations. Bare in mind we went on a warm night and at that altitude it was still only 8 degrees. They had blankets on the coach, which helped a lot but defo bring a jumper/coat.
In summary, honestly one of the best value for money trips I've ever been on and could not recommend more.

We’ve just got back off the most wonderful tour around Mount Teide area where we saw the most beautiful sunset with some bubbles added in. An excellent Vegetarian dinner followed and the we was treat to the most informative talk about the night sky and the star constellations. Our guide, Isobel was the finest tour guide we could have hoped for, her knowledge and passion for all she talks about is infectious. Coach driver Jose drove so smoothly around some of the most testing roads. All in all a wonderful experience enjoyed by all of us. Thanks so very much to you both you are amazing. Trip of my life! Since pre-trip, the team had been very accomodative about my transfer arrangement, and it just continued with excellence! Nico was the best guide one could ask for, very laidback, funny, and seems to also be enjoying himself during the trip and that just spreads a good vibe all over. Jorge handles the twist and turns with precision, swiftness, and such speed it's as if he knows the road inside out. Teide itself is unbelievable and mesmerizing; having these two guys along the way amps it up! Thank you!
Ps. As a budget traveller, i'd say this is well worth that one splurge you might allow yourself in a trip!

Something a bit different!
The coach pick up was 2 minutes from our hotel and a large air conditioned coach was provided which was only half full, which was reassuring during covid times and masks were mandatory.
Pepe was our tour guide and he was very knowledgable and informative and kept us laughing too!
We stopped at a cafe on the way up and the alcoholic coffee was recommended and it was so good! Then we stopped at various observation points before finally stopping to watch the sunset above the clouds with a glass or two of cava. And what a sunset!
We were then driven to a restaurant for a 3 course meal which considering it was mass produced for a large number of guests was the tastiest pork I have ever had!
Next on the agenda was to view planets through the telescopes and then our final stop was stargazing and learning about the stars. I have never seen so many stars!
I echo all the reviews about this being an amazing trip and not to be put off by the 9 hour duration, it really didnt feel like it.

My wife and I have visited Teide on several occasions including a couple of trips (many year ago) to the vey top.
We booked this trip through TUI since not all operator pick up from Los Gigantes where we stayed and price was relatively comparable.
Initially was a little disappointed, it took 80 min to pick up everyone before the trip got started….I guess the price we payed for doing a trip which covered the whole south west of the island.
All I can say is it was well worth it. Our Guide, Danny was a local and was highly knowledgeable about the history and geology of the island. He parented many interesting facts and made the time fly by. After dark he turned into a “Sky at night” presenter and pointed out key stars, constellations and the “ band of cloud” that turns out to be our very own Milky Way.
Thank you Danny great job.
The star of the show was, however, the sunset with the glasses of well chilled Cava being a lovely touch.
Other highlights included stops to stretch our legs and explore plus viewing Jupiter and the rings of Saturn through a telescope
From previous reviews we weren’t expecting a great evening meal, however, I have to say I’ve had much worse on similar excursions and there were several clear plates around the table including my own … so not too shabby…. Just don’t expect Michelin Star quality

This trip was brilliant, more than I was expecting, the tour guide gave a lot more information on Tenerife history, flora and fauna. Very funny guy. Plenty of stop off points for photo opportunities. Food at the restaurant was good and nice break from tapas, we limited ourselves on the unlimited drinks as knew would only have a couple of chances to use the restrooms. If there is one tour to do while on holiday to Tenerife then this is the one. As a side note wear jeans and stick a hoody in a backpack much higher up it is cold once suns down.

Booked this for our anniversary and research suggested (and our guide confirmed) the best time is from October however we had no view/no sunset, and also had no visibility for stargazing. We understand this isn’t the guides fault, however we essentially paid 89 euros per person for a meal. It was a lovely meal but not worth 89 euros per person Good tour guide with knowledge (Danny) and it wasn’t his fault but still very disappointing. Would have been good for a warning when boarding the coach. Danny did say there is only about 5 days a year this happens and so I think it would be appropriate for an offer of partial refund due to it as we got none of the experience. Is this possible? And my feedback for future is to pre warn guests at point of booking or boarding if there may be no visibility

Dear Guest,
First of all we would like to apologise for the ocurred.
We understand your dissatisfaction and it is clear that we do not want our guests to miss the experience of being able to see the magic of the stars and the night sky here in the Teide National Park. We live on Tenerife and we know that the weather can change in no-time but as the guide already mentioned to you yesterday, this is a very rare event we can´t forsee unfortunately.
Can you contact us please with your booking detals.

A fabulous excursion with a fine crew to take care of us (Osvaldo, the bus driver and guides Jack and Laura). Jack educated and entertained us, in equal amounts. This is a man who clearly knows so much about Tenerife and the Teide National Park and delivers his commentary with an infectious passion and clarity.
The sunset above the clouds was a breathtaking experience and one that I will remember and cherish for a long time and we were grateful for the blankets that were supplied to keep the cold at bay. The temperature does drop very quickly up there.
Once the sun had set we were driven to another location to indulge in some stargazing. Until this excursion I had never seen a night sky without it being marred by light pollution, so to see so many celestial objects in such a pure, dark sky was nothing short of spectacular. Again, Jack’s passion and knowledge shine through and my wife and I learned so much from him.
This experience was so good, we wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
The only constructive criticism that we have is the shortage of time to explore / take photographs at some of the sightseeing spots. Instead of the meal stop, which takes up a decent amount of time, I’d prefer a couple of short drink / toilet breaks and more time to point my camera at some genuinely world class landscape.
That aside, many thanks to Jack for his time, knowledge and humour. To those who held their own loud conversations while he was doing his best to educate the rest us who wanted to listen to his wisdom, your rudeness cost you some first class knowledge.

Hi,
My husband and I have booked this trip for July and I just wondered what the temperature would be like up there? Will we be ok with a light jacket/jumper or would we also be best with trousers?
Thanks in advance

We came in januari and I'd recommend an early fall/wind jacked and a hoodie. Temperature is about 10c if I recall correctly.

What is the highest altitude this trip will reach? I have mild mountain sickness in the very high mountain.
Thank you for your reply.

You pass by the two main peaks in the park including Mount Teide, but the trip does not include taking the cable car to the peak (you'd have to organise that as another trip). Also it's not permitted to walk from the top of the cable car to the actual peak without having applied for and obtained a permit - which you need to do several weeks (months?) in advance.

Hi, do you go on the cable car with this tour? Also is there a vegan (no meat, egg or dairy) option at the restaurant? Many thanks!
Written 19 March 2023
No cable car trip.
Well worth the effort and our tour guide asked if there were ant dietary requirements. Enjoy

Grtz
