- 997ulie0 contributionsWonder World journeyOur tour with Ozeano was sooo good. The marine animals are the centre of attention. Our guide Nicole loves the sea and the animals with all her heart, passion, competent knowledge and a lot of joy, she takes you on this wonderful journey into a completely different world. We all came back very enchanted and even overcame a "boat trauma". Thank you very much and see you next timeWritten 8 May 2023
- _elsternest0 contributionsBest experiences everIt was my third trip with Oceano. Every trip was different and everyone sooooo amazing!!! This time I saw a lot of dolphins and a turtle. At the trip before it was a small whale very close to us that we could see AND hear! You will never forget those experiences. You get a lot of informations at the trips and Oceano does a lot of environmental work. I love them! If you have a sensitive stomache, you should know that Oceano uses a small boat.Written 19 February 2023
- Katie G0 contributionsAmazing!A fantastic trip, saw Brydes whales and pilot whales. Crew were helpful and informative. Vegetarian paella and drinks included. Perfect excursion...would definitely recommend!Written 26 January 2019
- 929Dave9290 contributions'It was excellent and definitely use again'It was excellent and definitely use again. We followed dolphins for about an hour once spotted whilst other tour companies had returned to base. Lovely ginger tea and biscuits served. Comprehensive tour guide, very friendly and answered questions. Made sure everyone got to view dolphins from different vantage points on boat. We really enjoyed it and were overwhelmed to see the dolphins.'Written 26 August 2017
- Anders TN H0 contributionsConsultantVery nice trip. Good guiding. The boat is an old genuine fishing boat. Good view around and very little risk of getting sea sick. We were lucky to see a group of whales very closely.Written 23 November 2016
- Helena N0 contributionsWonderful!Great boat and friendly crew. On top of that a beautiful day and some pilot dolphins. We were informed of how the dolphins live and environmental aspects were also considered.Written 23 November 2016
- Faye T0 contributionsFabulousJust a brilliant trip. We saw spotted and bottle nosed dolphins. We were up close to the animals when they wanted to play and race the boat but kept a good distance when we saw a hunting school. Our guide melaine was warm and enthusiastic. to be aware before you go there is no shade so you need a good hat and sun cream. Go to the loo before you go... although i'm sure you'd manage if u were desperate. They don't routinely ofter lifejackets at the start... i'd say they probably should the boat is small and the sides low great for getting close to the animals but riskier!Written 12 June 2016
- Gitte H0 contributionsSeasickLots of waves so I got seasick. Also we did not see any whales. It was too hot, the best thing about this experience was the swim which really helped me stop vomitingWritten 13 June 2015

I had the pleasure of going out with this whale watching company. The two staff on board were very knowledgeable and watching out for both sea creatures and the passengers on board.
We saw approximately 12-15 pilot whales and stayed a safe distance (for the whales that is).
The Danish lady, I’m sorry I forgot your name, was a pleasure to watch in action netting up floating rubbish as we went out to sea and then showing us how dangerous this trash is to turtles etc, as the plastic/ropes etc were full of crabs, which attracted other sea life to swallow.
A five star plus company.

I’m so glad I chose Oceano for my whale watching trip. The simple boat with just ten people has just the right amount of space - although it’s small, it didn’t feel crowded and felt like a peaceful and low impact way to see wildlife.
Our guide Nicole was an absolute joy to be with, she has such enthusiasm for the ocean and its inhabitants, and took time to explain everything in both German and Spanish.
Sitting near the surface of the sea, it was beautiful when the captain turned off the engine for us to float while watching the dolphins, just observing and hearing their breathing.
I would highly recommend this trip.

We had such a blast. Saw 4 types of dolphin / whales … the guide was soooooo super energetic (lovely Danish lady) and at one point we saw over 50 spotted dolphins in a feeding frenzy who then did a “race”in front of our boat. Absolutely mind-blowing. We may have lucked out but boy it was a good trip with a great guide and captain.

Saw heaps of whales and dolphins, plus a sea turtle and a Portuguese man o' war.
The boat guide speaks ALL the languages.
I worried that the small boat experience would make it difficult to get the good photos, but that was false. It was very comfortable, and the captain maneuvered the boat in such a way that everyone had visual access. Highlight of the trip: A large pod of dolphins swam with the boat for quite a long time, racing, jumping, and splashing their tails. The boat tour is scheduled for 3 hours, but ours worked out to be closer to 4. We ran into some right whales, so I think they just extended it to make sure we could take advantage of the opportunity.

Oceano Whalewatching is very highly recommended. Enthusiastic and knowledgable guide who shares lots of information on sighted whales and the sea as an ecosystem. Sensitive and respectful approach to the animals. The small (but very beautiful) boat and group size made the experience all the more enjoyable.

We were very lucky to meet several bottlenose dolphins who accompanied us. They seemed to really enjoy accompanying us. Shortly afterwards came a group of pilot whales, who passed us rustling and with great grace. They were just metres from the boat and it was just great to see these beautiful animals in their natural habitat. Nicole was our guide and answered all the questions, fished garbage from the sea and kept herself on a pedestal with remarkable grace in the sea to look for animals. A seasick passenger was also treated and cared for perfectly. We made and paid for the Booking Referral online at very short notice (Paypal). My questions, which I had asked in the contact form, were answered quickly. The tour was explained in Spanish, German and English. It was a unique experience. Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, in the 3 1/2 hours we only saw a few bottlenose dolphins and they were relatively far away, as well as a small loggerhead turtle that swam past the bow. Of course, this is never predictable and has nothing to do with the provider! I would like to emphasize this despite all the criticism.
There was no shade on the boat, so we were glad we had booked the morning tour (end of May 2024). It was definitely too hot and the sun was too intense.
At the beginning we were asked whether there were any German-speaking customers. One man was American with a German wife, the rest were German. The guide (I am deliberately not mentioning any names) then wanted to keep the trip in English. When I asked if she could explain things in German, the answer was: "It's a shame, I was hoping that I wouldn't have to repeat everything twice." I found that outrageous. During the course of the trip it also turned out that the American's wife kept translating and the man also understood German to some extent. There was also an amateur photographer on board who spoke a lot in English with the couple. The commentary was therefore more than superfluous!
Unfortunately, regardless of the language, the guide said and explained very little, only at the end. Especially after almost no animals were seen, by which I mean more general things about the Atlantic and the conditions there such as currents, biodiversity, animal behavior, environmental pollution, etc. She always just said: "Ask if you want to know something." That's not how I imagine a commented trip to be. Questions arise during an explanation, introduction or report. In particular, one would have expected better didactically from a former special needs teacher! I was also bothered by her commanding tone with which we were all instructed and reprimanded. What a pity! A few days earlier we had been on a tour with Volker Boehlke, which I found so informative, exciting and educational. Conclusion: Obviously it depends very much on the person who gets you on a trip with Oceano.

After leaving, we saw a sea turtle and rescued a weakened storm diver.
The very attentive tour guide Nicole answered all questions and excelled with her knowledge of whales and nature conservation.
As a highlight we actually got to see a humpback whale. First just the blast, then the whale jumped out of the water as a whole - an impressive experience for us as parents and of course even more for our 2 children.

This was a wonderful experience and we are so glad we did it. We were very lucky to see bottle-nose dolphins! We were incredibly fortunate to have seen a mother and baby swimming alongside one another-that made the whole trip for us!!!
The lady who ran the tour was brilliant-she spoke so many languages fluently and was very interesting. She told us about the whales and dolphins in the area and provided information packs for us to read. She was very clear about what would happen on the trip and explained where we would go and what we were seeing (birds as well as mammals!)
Choose the Oceano tour because this company really care about the wildlife and nature of the area. They demonstrated how much by collecting litter from the sea whilst we were searching the area (because it kills the whales and dolphins when they swallow it). We totally recommend this experience.

I’m sure this would have been a great tour, based on the many reviews here. But I wanted to call attention to the fact that accessing their vessel will be impossible for some folks. It requires climbing down/up a vertical ladder that is approximately 10 feet, give or take depending on the tide. This detail is neither on their web site nor in the information email they send you upon booking.
For this reason we were unable to participate. Unfortunately we were only offered a half refund, which seemed unfair considering it was due to omission of information that we had to cancel.
I’m giving 2 stars because as least the staff was very friendly and empathetic. The issue here is with the management of the company, their lack of disclosure and overly strict cancelation policy.

We are sorry for your displeasant experience and your disappointment, and we will see how we can avoid similar experiences in the future.
We would like to add that we did refund the ticket of person who could not join the tour for the above mentioned reasons. But the second person would have been able to join, and decided not to, which is why only refunded one ticket.
Considering we are operating with a small boat for only 10 guests, there is not much flexibility in refunds.
We hope you have an enjoyable holiday anyway.
