About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- F4397JRvincentb0 contributionsWhy run on a national holidayGreat communication from the host prior and during the trip but the fact they ran the trip on the day of a national bank holiday for Gibraltar was a joke! Not one shop open for obvious reasons and the bars were packed with locals celebrating and the trip to the rock was over a 4 hour wait which when you only have 3.5 hours in Gibraltar till pick up you kind of have had a wasted day. Other travel companies blocked out the BH date I’ve since found out shame this one just wanted to take people’s money without the important info.Written 3 October 2024
- flexitravel220 contributionsTake a city tour bus street are challengingThis is one of the best option to move around some of the neighbourhoods, in particular Albayzin and Sacromonte, up quite steep hills. Those two areas are up the hill, narrow streets with traffic, bicycles and runners, in addition to pedestrian. We were shocked that very few people were not using walking sticks. Main recommendation, take you walking sticks with you. Unless your are very fit, those are a must even in Alhambra.Written 1 October 2024
- nigelhC1465IK0 contributionsAlhambra stunning but Granada city disappointingThe Alhambra is stunning and the explanations of the guide added value. Before going to the Alhambra and gardens we parked on the edge of Granada city with a 20 minute walk each way to the Cathedral etc and nearly two hours of free time, which was too long.Written 30 September 2024
- nauj630 contributionsConsensus rules. Not good !Disorganised, uncomfortable & too many disrespectful staff. At best, the potential to see the main points of interest & orientate central Granada ; at worst, chaos. Don’t do this ‘attraction’ if you have any expectation of there being any sense of schedule & order, nor planning & quality. You definitely ‘take your chance’ ( like others, we too didn’t dare get off, once we’d jammed ourselves into the benches ; long legs and this transport ‘don’t go’ ) in that most people ‘hop on’ but don’t ‘hop off’, the consequence being, lots of visibly frustrated & mad tourists being left to continue waiting at many of the stops. And the commentary system is all over the place when it comes to functionality & effective communication. This experience is not expensive, but because it’s hit & miss, it’s really poor value !Written 23 September 2024
- Martin B0 contributionsA Good Train Of Thought. The only criticism we have was finding the stop at No. 9 - we found 10 and started our tour there. It's a street train, so comfort is not high on the agenda, however, this should not put you off. This ride is worth the time and money as it provides some good information (in many languages) and historical insight about the city. It is a good way to start any further exploration of the various historic buildings. Give this a go for sure.Written 19 September 2024
- R2498CVpaulinew0 contributionsUnreliable!I booked this trip. I travelled to Malaga to catch the bus. Had to pay for a hotel. When I get to my hotel I find they had cancelled it. I’m out of money and wasted time because of their disorganization. They said I didn’t answer a message they had sent me. I searched, there was no message! So disappointing. If they’d done it earlier I could have gone with another company.Written 19 September 2024
- TheGuyfromGenk0 contributionsWonderful marbleDon't pass up on this hike. The tempo is slow with enough pauses, so you don't have to fear it will be to hard. If you want to do it fast pace, without guided info, you should go alone. But im any case, do go! It'd worth the cost.Written 15 September 2024

- GlasgowAlly720 contributionsVery Informative Tour of the RockWe enjoyed a tour of the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar on 6 September 2024. We booked via TUI in the UK and were staying in Benalmadena on the Costa Del Sol, which was about 2.5 hours by bus. TUI allowed us some free time before and after the tour to buy souvenirs and lunch. The actual trip is outsourced to Blands Travel, who are based on Gibraltar. Our guide was called Angel. He was very funny, knowledgeable, and passionate about the place. A tape plays an official commentary and Angel stopped the tape periodically to provide additional details which enhanced the experience. Extra nuggets of information thrown in to help us understand more about the place. The tour guides are excellent drivers too. The buses are quite small, but the roads are very narrow and very busy. Their interactions with the native Macaque apes were excellent. These wee 'monkeys' know that the guys driving the white tour buses have food for them, and while they're distracted, us tourists could capture a few pictures. Angel and his colleagues run 3 tours a day, so they know what they're talking about and this clearly shows. If visiting Gib, pay them a visit.Written 13 September 2024
- 207lesleyq0 contributionsBeautiful placeWe did this trip with Julia travel. When booking we were advised it would be a long day with a lot of pick ups. But it was worth it. We got an hour and half in a small village on the way up. Just enough time to grab something to eat and a drink. Then onto the gauge. I don't like heights so this was to challenge myself and so glad I did. You're given a safety briefing ,hard hat and radio and earphones so your guide can tell you the history of the place. This place is stunning with beautiful views. It is well worth the long drive out. Loved every second of it. If you can drop on Jose as your guide you will have a great experience. He was witty and a pleasure to be around. He also was very reassuring.Written 13 September 2024
- tanya_gibbons0 contributionsGreat day out in Caminito Del ReyPrompt pick up from Julia's travel although if I could make a suggestion it would have been more reassuring to have a sign or notice at the bus stop so we knew for sure we were waiting in the correct place for pick up. That said, our coach arrived and we were met by the lovely Javier. We had a short stop for snacks and the toilet before commencing our walk. The trip advertised that we would stop at a village on route but those plans were changed due to it being a public holiday. It was a shame but not a problem as the point of the trip was to visit Caminito del Rey. Javier gave us lots of interesting information throughout the trip. He was really informative and prioritised safety. The walk was excellent, very high at times as expected. Definately not for people who are afraid of heights. The walkways were in perfect condition and I felt safe throughout. We learned so much about the area, wildlife and its history from Javiers audio guided tour. Would definately recommend this trip . Thanks Javier from the 3 welsh girls.Written 10 September 2024
- 552tonyi0 contributionsGreat day out Caminito del ReyReally enjoyed the day (long day) The views are something you will remember for the rest of your life Did find the heights a problem at all even the bridge at the end Definitely recommendWritten 5 September 2024
- jeffmarana0 contributionsAvoiding Alhambra and Granada tour with Julia grey line in MalagaPositive communication , objectivity , respect , ethical behaviour and professionalism are basic qualities that any tour guide has to respect . confirmations and reminders about the trip are usually sent a day or two before the trip Functional air conditioning and breathable air on the bus are undeniably important for the passengers. We were scheduled at 8:10 am on a defined bus station to be picked up . I ve sent an email to the company asking if there were any changes about the departure time since no confirmation was sent by the company without any answer . As planned at 8:10 we were stepping inside the bus The first issue The tour guide checked her watch and it was 8:10 and said that I should have been there earlier , I asked her why I wasn’t informed since the company wants us to be earlier ( that was a first issue with the tour guide who seemed to impose her own rules . The second issue The air conditioning was not adequate , a poor air quality wit a stinking air forced me to use a mask to be able to breathe . Third issue We booked our trip in French since it was mentioned that the tour langages are English French Spanish and another langage . However for the Alhambra tour the guide convinced us the follow the English speaking group since it was only a small group and the French -German group is crowded Actually there was no French speaking group for Alhambra , moreover , despite discussing on a personal Level with the guide , she did not even once address us in French during all the group explanations on the bus she used four languages English Spanish German and Italian . The agreement was to follow the English speaking group on the Alhambra tour only … The fourth issue non ethical diffamation against a fast food chain in front of all the group members ( me te than 30 ) As a geographic repair in Granada we stood in front of a burger …. Store . She used to split with disgust while mentioning the name of burger… in each used language English ,Spanish ,German and Italian . Last issue When me and my wife asked about wifi internet connection o n the bus She mentioned that it was taken away because of the Covid Would I recommend taking that tour with mi…..e another time It’s a No No No I prefer professional , balanced and objective tour guideWritten 5 September 2024
- F5043TIsarahc0 contributionsHorribly long queues and a wait of over fifty minutes, then no commentary. This company exists only because there is no rival or competition. Having booked tickets the previous day, we discovered that despite waiting at plaza nueva, it was fifty minutes before a bus arrived with enough space to take us. Then having got us all aboard and on our way I asked at the next stop why there was no commentary and was told it was broken. The only saving grace of the trip was the driver who was kind and thoughtful to an elderly disabled lady and was very apologetic. We didn’t dare ‘hop off’ once we had a seat for fear of never getting a space to get back to the city centre. Don’t use this company unless you really have to!Written 5 September 2024
- Sunshine021565139780 contributionsNot worth itNo idea how long stop would be or that you could get on or off no Ryne or reason to stopping for 15 mins at some stops and 1 min at othersWritten 29 August 2024

Booked and paid for this tour 2 months ago. Had confirmation email. Emailed to confirm pick up address to be advised sorry not booked as they can’t get the entry tickets to the palace confirmed. All other tour operator options are now booked meaning we can not visit the Alhambra palace on our trip to Spain. Will not be back since coming from NZ which is a 30 hour flight. So thanks to Julia travel will miss what was anticipated to be a highlight of our trip. If I had not contacted them would they ever have advised the tour was not actually booked? Will I ever have my money returned from them… Can not warn you off ever booking with this company more. BUYER BEWARE you will not know if your apparently confirmed tour is actually booked for you until you get on it it seems

The Alhambra in Granada is a world's wonder! Amazing architecture, art, and history. Imagine you being there in awe and then having your tour guide rushing through it! What a shame, this is not how you do a TOUR! I would understand if this is a full day tour. But is not! Your tour, excluding travel, is essentially only 2.5 hours . The rest is FREE time in the city - 3 hours! I felt duped....
I joined the tour in Malaga at 8:00 am, met by the tour guide Jean Pierre. The ride to Granada was about 1.5-2 hours. At Alhambra, we were handed off to a local guide, who guided is through the palace until around 12:30. Then we were handed back to Jean Pierre, who the led us to the cathedral in Granada..He showed is the entrance to the entrance of the cathedral. We were to tour the cathedral our self and have free time from 1-4 PM.
Jean Pierre was anything but a guide. In the bus, he just mostly read through a script. In Granada, he continuously failed to bring attention the group to follow him. He rarely spoke and kept walking very far ahead of the group. Most people were having a hard time catching up especially the elderly - he didn't seem to care of anyone in the group got lost or left behind.
The local guide, I think his name was Hani, was a bit better. But still, not a very good guide. He rushed through the tour, rarely facing the group, and basically just doing the tour via his microphone.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TOUR. GRANADA IS AWESOME, BUT USE A DIFFERENT TOUR!

Dear Andi R,
Thank you for commenting on our Alhambra tour from Costa del Sol.
I am glad to see that you enjoyed the visit to the monument. As you point out, Alhambra is an impressive site and I am sorry to see that you felt the experience lacking because of the guides’ explanations.
Nonetheless, I will forward your commentaries to the manager responsible so that the appropriate measures are taken regarding this matter.
I look forward to seeing you again on one of our tours.
Kind regards,
Edgar W.
