- 1On March 22, 1933, a few weeks after Adolf Hitler had been appointed Reich Chancellor, a concentration camp for political prisoners was set up in Dachau. This camp served as a model for all later concentration camps and as a "school of violence" for the SS men under whose command it stood. In the twelve years of its existence over 200. 000 persons from all over Europe were imprisoned here and in the numerous subsidary camps. 41. 500 were murdered. On April 29 1945, American troops liberated the survivors.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- erinhL5361MA0 contributionsWWII Nuremberg TourTour was informative and I wouldn't have been able to get from place to place without a guide that knew the city. My guide was friendly and approachable when I asked questions.Written 14 January 2025
- MichaelD110710 contributionsGreat tourGreat trip of really interesting sites. Our tour guide Rob was friendly, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. We had a great timeWritten 9 January 2025
- xygb7dklt0 contributionsCould be explained a lot betterThis WWII “excursion” was part of a Viking Cruises extension in Nurnberg. Our group sat in the visitors’ area while our tour guide gave some details in a hushed voice thru her microphone to our earpieces. Other visitors came and went. Then there was a short video. Not very good. Room furnishings are brown wood. A cross on the wall was a post-trial addition. The room, on the second floor of the justice building and prison, seems small considering it held judges, accused, defence and prosecutors, interpreters and transcribers. There was no explanatory material available or bookshop. There is an elevator for those who do not like stairs. Much more could be done with this location to inform the public about this era in history. Note: Tourist Office on the main square in Nurnberg has a softcover book with b&w photos titled “The Nuremberg Trials: A Short Guide” for Euro 6.80. It comes in different languages. Very good.Written 29 December 2024
- andrewcG7630ZK0 contributionsHistorical TourWe took the tour with Rob to different historical WW2 sites and ended with a tour of the Courtroom 600. Rob provided a lot of context to the different sites that were very interesting. There is a lot of information that we learned during the tour.Written 28 December 2024

- G6389AK0 contributionsGood tour, not enough time at the palace of justiceSeemed rushed. Guide was ok but he yelled the entire tour and mostly recited what was on the plaques at the sites. I wish he would've told us why we were making the 1st stop. Instead, we sat in a cold tour bus while he talked about Hitlers ascent to power. When we left the bus, he said we were at the parade grounds. Knowing that 1st would've made the history lesson more applicable. We had less than an hour at the palace of justice which was not enough time to see the room and the wonderful exhibits. We had to skip a lot due to time pressure.Written 16 December 2024

- M5601THdianem0 contributionsNuremberg world war ll tourThe trip was fine but I wouldn’t rate it outstanding. Tour guide was knowledgeable. They did not pick us up at our hotel as we were told. Emailed us that morning to tell us we needed to met them. We did not have enough time in the courthouse to see everything.Written 14 December 2024

- B893VGkevint0 contributionsVery disappointing and not worth the money. We took this tour on 9 December. The tour guide spent a great deal of time talking to the small group, trying to describe how the Nazi Party came to power, but his dialogue was delivered in a series of statements that left us wondering what point he was trying to make at any given time; he appeared to be almost constantly struggling to deliver comprehensible statements in a language (English) in which he lacks fluency. As a military officer and student of WWII history, I found this tour to be very disappointing and grossly overpriced, but I also sensed the same reaction from others in our group. His grasp of the English language, presentation techniques (for example, using a very small picture of poor quality on a cell phone vs taking the time to bring printed materials), and his demonstrated degree of research and preparation were all inadequate for the task, and an insult when you consider how much people paid for this tour. Visitors will get much more value from a small amount of internet research and taking themselves on a self-guided tour.Written 13 December 2024

- 302demetram0 contributionsNuremberg WW 2 tourOur tour guide was very good, kept everyone engaged and was a wealth of knowledge. We knew we would be visiting sites that showed where Hitler held his speeches and so on, however I personally would have liked a more personal tour of the palace of justice and the trials themselves, also, we did spend money for the tour, but was disappointed that we had to pay for a ticket to enter the place of justice. I wonder if I missed that when reading what was expected of the tour….not sure why that should not be included. All in all it was good, I just would of preferred more detailed information.Written 6 December 2024

Everything went as planned from pick up to drop off. The driver was prompt and did a great job getting us to and from our river cruise port. We always received prompt replies via email when planning and confirming our trip. The Memorial site is very well planned with a movie, exhibits and a walking tour with a guide.

Make sure you read all of the description. The title says private tour, but when you get to Dachau, it is a combined tour...caught us off guard a bit. Especially for the price, I would have expected a private tour at Dachau, not just the private transfer. Saying that, the guide we had at the camp was excellent, engaged and informative, just not private.
The transfer driver Rob, was great. Gave us a good rundown on relevant German history, was funny and friendly. The private car was spacious, but more truck-like than car-like in suspension. Some of the seats were quite limited in their view, so on the way out I could not see much, but I sat up the front with Rob on the way back and it was more comfortable. Still like sitting in a truck, but at least I could see what was going on.

The driver picked us up at the Cruise Ship in Nuremberg and took us to Dachau. An experienced guide gave an excellent tour in English. It was a very sobering yet amazing. The Suzart tour driver returned us to the ship, working with our schedule to top off an educational and heartfelt adventure.

I have wished to visit Germany for a variety of reasons and attractions, really if you haven’t yet…if you can - do it; if you can’t - save for it.
Rob (our tour guide) was great - we talked for the entire 2 hour ride about Dachau, Nuremberg, Bavaria, amd Munich amongst other connections both for WWII (pre/during/post) and The Cold War.
We coordinated with Suzarts for a combo tour and transfer which was most advantageous given we had no other contingency with the recent train strike. Our first day arriving in Frankfurt was disrupted by the strike with the 10:36 ICE train getting cancelled while we were waiting on the platform. Having a car prearranged on Day two was a relief as we would have had a similar challenge the next day.
Rob was also punctual across the board and made sure we made everything we planned. All we had to do was roll out of bed, check out, and meet Rob where he was waiting for us at our arranged time. Then at Dachau - he managed a hand off to the Camp Memorial tour guide and we remained in touch throughout the tour.
The tour was amazing - plan a full day if you have an interest in this history. The memorial is incredibly moving and well presented.
Following the tour - Rob dropped us at our hotel in Munich making our trip from Nuremberg incredibly easy.
We arranged a custom private tour and transfer from Nuremberg to Dachau and then terminating in Munich - so probably 6 or more hours of driving and about 3-4 hours of history for Rob, full coordination of the tour, complete control over the time, and all details in Dachau (outside of lunch, which was understood up front).
Work with Suzarts - I’d recommend if you’re coming into Frankfurt and plan on spending time in Bavaria.
