        Trip Cancellation, no problem
Ignore date visited, this was a cancellation review on this company. Date of visit was required for review. We scheduled a private tour for August 2019 but an itinerary change forced us to cancel our tour, Reading their conditions and submitting our request for refund was met with a professional and prompt refunf of our Deposit. Murielle is a very gracious in all her emails and we look forward to a rescheduling of our WW1 USMC battlefield tour in the near future. Thanks Murielle!!

Tour of a lifetime for two former Marines!
My husband and I booked a river cruise in France, and as former Marines, REALLY wanted to somehow fit a visit to Belleau Wood into our vacation. We only had one day available to do this, and my travel agent was unable to find anyone to conduct a tour. I'm not even sure how I found out about Murielle, but sent her an email with my fingers crossed that she could accommodate us. She was able to book us for the one day we had available. We took a train from Paris to Chateau Thierry, where Frederic met us. He then proceeded to give us a tour that exceeded everything we had hoped for. We spent 7 days after this on a wonderful riverboat cruise of the Seine, but both of us agreed that the day with Frederic seeing the battlefields, monuments, and cemetaries from the Great War was the highlight of our trip. I can't recommend this company highly enough. Frederic truly helped us fulfill a lifelong dream.

A personal tour I highly recommend
I’m so glad I found out about this tour company on TripAdvisor, I’d originally booked a rental car to visit the battlefields. Murielle and Frederic were fantastic hosts, I emailed around 6 months before my trip to France with basic details of my great uncle’s grave and they researched his WW1 records, I paid a 30% deposit and booked an early morning train to Saint Quentin where I was greeted by Murielle and Frederic, they took me to my relatives grave and then to his place of death, followed by where he fought and where the Germans were and many other Australian, British and American cemeteries, they really tailor the tour to suit your needs and it’s relevant to your ancestors fight, Murielle is very good at stopping for comfort breaks as toilets are few and far between on the battlefields, we stopped for a lovely lunch and they dropped me back to the train station in the evening, I hope to return again someday.

        Best battlefield tour guides
Murielle was so very patient with us as she was informing us about their guidance. She asked about the brigade in which my grandfather served so she could give us a personalized tour. During the French rail strike she alerted me to that problem and helped me arrange alternate transportation in France. Murielle and her husband Frederic picked us up at our lodging and our day began. She gave us an overview of all the WWI battles to give us a broad perspective of the war. We saw many American and French battlefields that included many memorials and cemeteries, both American and German. We saw many trenches, some well preserved and others returning to nature. In some locations the 100 year old barbed wire was still intact as was sharpened Xes to inhibit troop movements. We toured many fairly well preserved German bunkers, and also tunnels and mine explosion areas around Vauquois in which we enjoyed a lengthy tour. We also enjoyed seeing the site where the Lost Battalion fought and listening to their story. They stopped for lunch at a nice little restaurant that was within our budget. Frederic had many exhibits and photos that enhanced the tour. At the end of the tour they brought us back and even guided us to a relatively inexpensive gas station so we could fill our car. They were both personable, but focused on giving the best tour experience possible. They both spoke English that I could understand. I did a lot of research on guides before we selected them and I cannot imagine any better guides than these two. Their tour price was fair.

        Personalized World War I tour
My husband's grandfather fought at the Battle of Cantigny in May 1918, and we had been talking since 2000 about going to France with our children to see the battlefield and related sites. Murielle and Frederic customized the 7-hour tour to our interests -- they requested information about my husband's grandfather's regiment, etc., so they could show us the field in which he would have been standing, where his group spend the night before the battle, the monument for his group, etc. (He was reported KIA and listed as such on a monument but actually died in 1972!) We also visited other sites related to the Hindenburg line, trenches, cemeteries, the canal and tunnel, etc. Very informative tour and personable guides, and we highly recommend. We would not have found much of this at all on our own, and it was a very moving experience. Not recommended for young children due to length.

Very atmospheric and lots of historical information which was also in English. Very well maintained war grave site, as they all are.

        Great Experience
Murielle and Fred were terrific guides on our tour of the 1918 American division attacks on the Hindenburg Line. Their knowledge of the area and the details of the battle were impressive and we learned a lot about the whole of WWI - in addition to the attack on Hindenburg. They are very personable, speak good English, and have many personal stories that help tell the history. We highly recommend!!

A visit to Belleau Wood with my son - a Marine Vet.
After making contact with Murielle, at her suggestion, we traveled by train from Paris to Chateau Thierry - about 1 hour train ride. She and her husband, Frederic, met us at the station and took us through the Belleau Wood battlefield sector. We did a lot of walking and got the feel for the place. It was a very moving day. She arranged for my son, a Marine veteran, to visit the Bulldog fountain, which requires special keys. We visited the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery. At the end of the day, we were visiting the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery. The keeper asked my son to help lower the flag for the day. It was so moving. We have great pictures and memories! Murielle and Frederic made that happen and made our day very special. The sights are powerful and beautiful. It was an amazing experience for my family.

Visit of Somme battlefields (Australian) - on demand visit
Words aren't enough to describe the wonderful day we had with our guide, Murielle! Murielle is an expert and certainly shared her knowledge with us. It was a trip designed purposely for us, Australians, and provided all in English with a lovely French accent. We spent a full day from 9am till dark visiting the battlefields and listening to the load of knowledge that Murielle was sharing with us. A big THANK YOU to Murielle! You nailed it! We highly recommend "Historical Consulting - Tourism and Patrimony" to anyone who wants to spend a wonderful time, that they will never forget, while visiting the Somme area, or other areas that HCTP covers. HCTP has got a very comfortable and new van for small groups with microphone and it is perfect for anyone including seniors. We parked very close to each site and it did not require much walking. I would still recommend comfortable shoes specially if you plan on a full day of visit. We really had a very special day and came back home with lots of good memories.

A Day of Remembrance and Knowledge with Murielle and Frederic
My Wife and I joined Murielle and Frederic at Chateau Thierry for a special Day Tour encompassing the Second Battle of the Marne. They led us in the footsteps of Americans through Belleau Wood. Our stops at The Aisne-Marne and Oisne-Aisne American Cemeteries brought the events of a Century ago into focus. Murielle and Frederic added knowledge and perspective at every stop. They are superb historians of these events and the sacrifices that were made. We will long remember this wonderful day of reflection.

Walking in my Great Uncles Footsteps
Murielle and Frederic Castier are some of the most knowledgeable historians on scene and personally vouched for. Our trip was more than special. My husband's great uncle won the Medal of Honor as a result of the actions of him and his men during the infamous Lost Battalion in WWI. They spent the time to share with us exactly where certain events took place. Their personal touch and devotion of sharing the history of what our military members endured during these various combat actions is at best, honorable and endearing. We love this couple as our own. Strongly recommend them and their expert guides. Thanks M&F we miss you! we traveled in Aug 2012

Superb tour with Murielle and Frederick
We visited the grave of a great uncle who fell in the Battle of Lihons. Murielle and Fred carefully and thoughtfully researched the battle and the likely place of his death. They took us to his grave and the battle ground, then to other places of interest including Le Hamel. Then they returned us to Amiens to catch our train. Both have military backgrounds and as ex-military myself I belueve this added greatly to the experience. Highly recommended.

Best day of our 4-week trip in Europe
We arranged this escorted tour to the Argonne with Murielle at least 6 months in advance to visit the specific Hill where my grandfather's brother was killed in WWI. Her rates are extremely reasonable. Her English is excellent. While we only contracted for her services, her husband arrived to pick us up as well. They are both certified, knowledgeable guides of the area. On arrival in the Flèville area, we were met by the equivalent of a Park Ranger whose services they had arranged for the Hill without charge. We all went to the Hill and they pointed out countless foxholes, explaining that the forests of trees were non-existent after 4 days of shelling. They pointed out locations of German machine gun nests at the time and spots along the ridge where German forces had strategic advantage of simply firing down upon American troops climbing up steep terrain without the benefit of cover. They noticed small pieces of metal sticking up through present day forest bed of leaves, and pulled up large pieces of shrapnel and shovels - being careful to put them back exactly as they found them. Along the top of the ridge, we saw where most American troops were killed - and in all likelihood where my grandfather's brother was killed. My only regret was not having gone while my grandfather was alive to bring back photos - as he was within 100 miles himself at the time. After lunch, Murielle & her husband took us to the site of the Lost Batallion, the Pershing Monument, the Meuse-Argonne Cemetery (largest U.S. overseas military cemetery) and Vauquois (where German forces battled French forces in trench warfare for 4 years - trenches still existing today; and where the two sides both blasted the entire village and hilltop away, leaving nothing but a vast crater). Murielle worked at the Meuse-Argonne cemetery for 25 yrs before becoming a guide - as had her father before her. I cannot imagine guides doing a better job. Simply to show how pleased we were, we gave them more than a 40% gratuity - and bought them lunch.

        Outstanding WW1 tour
My wife and I went to Verdun to tour the battlefields. The tour enhanced my previous knowledge. My wife, with less knowledge of WW1 was as excited as I . We loved the enthusiasm, professionalism, depth of knowledge as well as the friendliness and openness that we were shown. This is an excellent tour for all ranges of interest.
