Make your own way to the ZooParc de Beauval in Saint-Aignan to begin your animal encounter. With full-day access, the day is yours to spend as you please, so take the time to explore the 30-hectare (74-acre) park in your own time.
Spot giraffes, white rhinos, zebras and wildebeest in the African Savannah habitat; marvel at gorillas, chimpanzee and orangutan; then peek underwater to admire baby manatees, river turtles, crocodiles and colorful Amazonian fish. Next, brave a look at the big cats, which include lions, tigers, jaguars and rare snow leopards, before visiting the Australian exhibit, home to adorable tree-kangaroos, koalas and kookaburras.
Among the star attractions are the pair of Giant Pandas, named Huan Huan and Yuan Zi, who arrived in 2012 and the baby panda Yuan Meng, born in August 2017 in the zoo. The pandas family remains the only giant pandas in France. Observe the hippopotamus enclosure, featuring a lagoon, waterfalls and an underwater viewing area.
Don’t forget to check out the zoo’s shows, which are held daily from March to September and include 'Les Maîtres des Airs', a spectacular bird show, and 'L’Odyssée des lions de mer', an entertaining sea lion demonstration.
