See two of the top sights in France, the Palace of Versailles and Monet's garden at Giverny, during a day trip from Paris. This full-day tour allows you to visit both Louis XIV's lavish palace, plus the picturesque gardens of the Giverny home that inspired many of Claude Monet's most famous paintings in one tour.
What to Expect
Leave Paris for a full-day tour of two of the most popular day trip destinations outside the French capital, Louis XIV's Palace of Versailles and Monet's garden in Giverny.

Begin with a visit to Giverny, where Impressionist master Claude Monet lived from 1883 until his death in 1926. The gardens that surround his former home were the inspiration for many of his most famous scenes, including the water lily pond he captured in the Nympheas series and the gentle arch of the Japanese bridge over that pond. Tour Monet's gardens, as many artists have, and see if you don't leave inspired.

After Giverny, take a midday break for lunch at the Moulin de Fourges, an 18th-century mill on the Epte River outside Giverny that's been transformed into a restaurant and inn. From there, continue your tour to Versailles.

The opulent Palace of Versailles was once the home of King Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette. On a tour of their extravagant apartments, try to imagine daily life for the royal family. Walk through the famous Hall of Mirrors, the Grand Apartments, and the Queen's Apartments as your guide helps bring history to life.

Enjoy some free time to wander through the expansive gardens behind the palace at Versailles before your day trip concludes and you travel back to Paris.

Versailles Fountain Show Special Program:
The fountains in the Versailles gardens are part of a special display set to the music of Louis XIV's era on Saturdays and Sundays from April 2-October 30, on May 5, Tuesdays from May 24-June 28 and July 14. Entry fees to this special program are included in the cost of the day tour.

Really enjoyable and informative tour.

The tour was fabulous the palace and grounds are beautiful. I was there in November, so no flowers. My disappointment was with the tour guide. She had booklets in another language and the directions to the restaurant were convoluted. I got lost and tried asking...More

Splendid palace

Visit to Versalles palace was a great experience. It is worth it to spend 1 full day in the palace and also visiting the gardens and buildings outside. It has great historical value.

Hard to describe.

This was a great tour. We went by "Greyhound" bus, first to Giverny then to Versailles. Both places are easy to enjoy with lots to see (flowers at Giverny) and the extraordinary palace and gardens at Versailles. But the highlight of our tour was the...More

Not worth it

The crowd and waiting line is ridiculous on most days. We purchased tix in advance so we had the advantage of not waiting in the ticket line. However, with tix in hand we waited over two hours in the hot sun standing on cobblestone waiting...More

Well worth the small extra cost!

One of the few tours that will pick you up at your hotel and return you there. Extremely knowledgeable guide who will personalize your experience. No more than 8 in a private tour (there were 6 in ours). The small number and skip the line...More

No. Its best to get a package that skips the lines, gives you a tour with headphones and free time in the gardens.
