About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Anil J0 contributionsStrasbourg, a page out of a Fairy TaleOur next destination during our European Vacay was Strasbourg a quaint town on the Alsace which is called, the Christmas Capital of the world, and as our agenda to visit Strasbourg was in the winter during the Christmas season, there were dozens of holiday markets and fairs with food, drinks, handcrafted goods, and many decorated Christmas trees with twinkling lights around the town, hence this city has been named as the Christmas Capital of the world, Set on the Rhine, Strasbourg is one of the finest medieval towns in Northeast France. It's also one of the most photogenic places you can visit in Alsace. With its historical monuments and striking architectures and the city's finest building Notre-Dame Cathedral, which is definitely one of the best Cathedral i have ever seen. it was definitely a place worth the visit. We were staying at Hotel Vendome which was just opposite the Railway station, we had a very good view of this small quaint town. We enjoyed walking around this quaint town and the various holiday markets and fairs and trying the various types of food, cakes and delicious wines being sold at the fairs. It is definitely a must visit for Holiday makers traveling around France as its very close to Paris and especially for those traveling France during Christmas, Strasbourg is a must visit to enjoy the Christmas season.Written 16 January 2025
- R7968IJdebrab0 contributionsMedieval CastleOur tour guide was excellent and very personable. A great tour but very fast! Would have liked to spend more time at each of the places. The medieval castle was definitely the highlight of the tour! It was amazing to imagine how people lived when this castle was originally built. Thank you for a wonderful day!Written 15 January 2025
- Nutty8TA0 contributionsFun!Great place. Very fun to walk at Christmas time. The whole town is decorated with lots of lights, Christmas decorations all over. Very colorful. There are 6 markets and a lot to see.Written 9 January 2025
- Rough-it0 contributionsBeyond StrasbourgThe weather was unstable and blustery, but the tour was still a great experience. Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquewihr— all charming and beautiful. But the castle visit was particularly interesting, thanks largely to Laurent’s engaging, amusing, informative patter. New, comfortable vans; good, reliable, and clear communication with management; excellent guides. A great chance to see more of Alsace!Written 9 January 2025

- henrylO6551HK0 contributionsGreat Day Trip Exploring Charming Alsace Region!Really enjoyed exploring the outskirts of Strasbourg on this one day tour of the Alsace region. Robin our driver/guide was excellent - super friendly, humorous and very knowledgeable about local history. He showed us around Colmar and was a walking encyclopedia of medieval life at Chateau Koenigsbourg. We drove to four spots - Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquewihr and Chateau Koenigsbourg. Favorite places were Eguisheim with its quaint fairytale houses and Chateau Koenigsbourg with its medieval rooms. Would not have been able to see all this on our own as they are quite spread out. Really liked the group size too - only 6 people which gave us time to see more without needing to wait too long for others. Highly recommend it!Written 18 December 2024

- R7768GEdebbiel0 contributionsFab trip which you must do if you are visiting Strasbourg! What a fabulous trip and I would definitely recommend. Our guide Pauline was so knowledgeable and gave us so much information about the Alsace region that we would never have found out ourselves. The trip itself was great and we loved seeing all the places we visited.... I'm sure we would never have found these ourselves. We loved Colmar so much that we booked a train and visited again during our holiday. Thanks Pauline as you were brilliant....on your recommendations, I now know that I love Malana's (traditional brioche bread shaped like a man!), Cremant....which is the same as champagne but cannot be called champagne and we had the best meal at the lovely and oldest restaurant in Strasbourg which again Pauline told us about - so thank you so much! If you are visiting Strasbourg....I would definitely recommend doing this trip.Written 9 December 2024

Magical little villages, and the most magnificent castle at the end of the trip. Thierry was a fantastic guide, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. We visited the castle at sunset and on a day when it sat above the clouds, resulting in breathtaking views from the top. Highly recommended. Craig and JasonWritten 31 October 2024

He was funny, informative, and a great host to give us the history of the area and an extensive knowledge of wine. We visited three small wineries with fantastic wines and also had about an hour an half to explore and/or have lunch in the quaint town of Ribeauville, home of Trimbach Winery - fabulous Riesling if you can find a bottle. Our guide, Laurent, was great! She was very informative and did a wonderful job of coordinating all the locations and providing a stress free shipping option for any wine you purchased that day. Superb!!

We showed up at the specified meeting point and found out that we were the only two people signed up for the tour. I appreciate that the tour operator, Ophorus, went ahead with the tour. It could not have been very profitable for them. Our guide, Jerome, was outstanding. As an experienced sommelier, he was very well versed on the subject of wines without being pretentious. We enjoyed a wonderful day visiting three wineries - some traditional and others more modern. Each winery provided some history on their business and a sampling of their wines. I learned more about wines in this tour than I have on any other. At the end of each stop, there was the opportunity to purchase some of the wines without any sales pressure. It was a little overwhelming visiting three wineries in one day. But, this tour also afforded us the opportunity to visit and have lunch and in Ribeauvillé. It was truly an enjoyable day and an educational experience.

It was a well-planned trip to three quite different wineries in northern Alsace. We were received by knowledgeable wine connoisseurs who listened to our wishes and experiences before wine was served. The wine was excellent and in all three places there was a lot of time to talk about the types of wine and see the cellars. Our guide, Jerome was pleasant company and very knowledgeable about Alsace, France and much more.

Had a fantastic time wine tasting in the Alsace region! We went to 3 wineries. The first one was Noelle Banchert. That was probably our favorite since the wine was delicious, the tasting was outside in the backyard, and we got to meet the wine maker which was very special. The second one was slightly larger and still very delicious. We had a few hours to wander around the beautiful village of Ribeauville for lunch. Our final stop was a more modern winery that was also very nice. Our guide was extremely knowledge about the wines, how to better understand the wine labels, and the history of the region. Although I’ve been to Alsace before I hadn’t been to these wineries or the village before. They’ve already started harvest season so the wineries depend on availability. I’d highly recommend this tour of you’re in this region!

Jérémy was our guide on this small group tour via van. He has a great sense of humor and kept us entertained. We stopped at 3 wineries, all fairly small ones where 2 were family-owned. We tasted several wines at each winery which gave us a good overview of Alsatian wines. We stopped in picturesque Riquewihr for some time on our own, including lunch, and wrapped up with the 3rd winery there. Jérémy Is very knowledgeable of the area and of the wines and local viticulture. It was a great experience.

Really good wine tour with visits to 3 different wineries.
Jerome is a lively and likeable guide/driver who knows both the area and the wines that are produced. He also has a broad knowledge of France in general.
The visits consisted of a presentation of the winery, their wines and selected wine tastings.
Of course, like other wine regions, Alsace has its own characteristics, which you will be more familiar with after the trip.
Biological production is very widespread in Alsace and otherwise the manufacturing process is quite classic and focused on the highest possible quality.

We were a group of seven and scheduled a four hour private tour with Ophorus. Our guide, Jerome, was excellent. None of our group have a working level of French, but during our travels around Alsace and at both of our stops, Jerome kept us completely informed and updated as we asked many questions of the two wineries we visited. One of our party is in the wine industry and Jerome had or acquired answers to all his in-depth questions. We were traveling on a river cruise and Jerome picked us up and dropped us back right at our boat’s dockage. Transportation was a very comfortable and well air conditioned eight passenger van. We had asked to visit a specific winery and had Ophorus select the other and this was handled with ease. It was a great 4-hours and Jerome is an excellent and very easy going guide. If you are interested in Alsace wines and have an open four hours while in Strasbourg, get ahold of Ophorus and ask for Jerome.

The trip was beautiful, interesting & educational. The only downside was we inly drove through small towns, no stopping to walk around and explore. The original itinerary stated we would have lunch in Riquewihr and that was the main reason I booked this particular tour, to see that village. Our tour guide took us to another village for lunch and we never visited Riquewihr. So that was upsetting.

2. Allez-vous aussi à Colmar? Nous avons l'intention d'aller visiter cette ville la veille et nous aimerions visiter d'autres villages.

This looks perfect for us. Is there a possibility of making a stop in Barr to the Leipp/Leininger winery for a tasting with Luc Leininger from 11am to 12pm on Monday , April 10?
We discovered we may have a family connection and have made an appointment to taste in this small spot. We would graciously go to your destinations of choice if this location could be added for an hour.
Most sincerely ,
