About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 623bettyT0 contributionsGreat trip to visit multiple cities in one dayWe really enjoyed our trip! Our guide was very knowledgeable, kind, and efficient. We got a chance to briefly explore every city. We only wish we had a bit more time in Basel and had spent more time by the river. We went into the shopping district, but would have preferred exploring the other side of the river more - i think this is where more tourists are.Written 31 December 2024

- jkaEat0 contributionsLovely market tourLaura was our guide and she was very kind, calm, and just lovely in general. We went to Kaysersberg (no Christmas markets because it was not a weekend) and it's so beautiful and the shops there were still fun, Riquewihr, where we loved the shopping the most, and Eguisheim, a beautiful little city that was also nice. We enjoyed the wine tasting as a break as well. We had a really good time and just having someone drive and park is worth the money you pay. Would definitely suggest.Written 9 December 2024

- DayTrip7868420 contributionsIncredible experience visiting 3 countries in one day with Christian DurThis was a spectacular tour! Christian was an amazing guide. He is extremely knowledgeable, fun and very considerate. Each city had its own special feel and history. Eguisheim, in France, was the inspiration for Beauty and the Beast. It was incredibly charming .Keep your eyes out for the stork nests! From there we went to a delightful wine tasting then on to Basel, Switzerland. The combination of the old and new cities was delightful as was the delicious lunch we had outside a lovely museum. Then on to Freiberg, Germany. Be prepared for a lot of walking! Christian is in amazing shape. When he saw we were getting a bit tired in Basel, he had us stop for ice cream and he went and got the car!Written 19 August 2024

- jellybellymelly0 contributionsGreat tour to the nearby villagesThis is a small group tour - there were only 6 of us. We were picked up on time at 10am at our hotel and headed to Haut-Koenigsbourg castle, as most Christmas markets were not open yet. Spent an hour or so at the castle, which had pretty good views at the top. Thereafter we visited Ribeauville, Kaysersberg, and Riquewihr (our favourite), followed by a wine tasting session and a short stop at Eguishem. We got back to Colmar at around 7.15-7.20pm. It was raining most of the time, but I think our guide made the most out of our trip and we enjoyed ourselves. We only had an extra day at Colmar and wanted to see the villages nearby without having to drive, and this tour was a great choice. Would recommend!Written 30 December 2023
- JessCoconut0 contributionsWonderful experience for everyone! We had a great time experiencing Christmas Markets in three countries—France, Germany and Switzerland. Our guide was great and knew additional information about each of the areas we experienced. Overall, a wonderful day and experience!Written 24 December 2023
- stevenpR3919DI0 contributionsGreat tour of Alsace villagesOur guide Christian was excellent, both entertaining and knowledgeable. As well as the planned 4 villages we also stopped at Koeningsbourg castle which was an added highlight. We stopped for a group lunch at one of the villages and than had enough time to wander through each village, meeting Christian at a pre set spot. Our original plan was to hire a car and attempt this tour on our own but I would strongly recommend against that, the guided tour meant we didn’t spend valuable hours looking for parking or getting to the centre of town as we were only a small group (6) in a small mini van we were able to be dropped off at the best point of each village. I would highly recommend this tour and special thanks Christian, our guide.Written 19 December 2023

My adult son and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Alsace Original Experiences. Our tour remains one of the highlights of our trip. Didier put our group at ease immediately and was the perfect guide - knowledgeable without being overpowering. The villages were perfect and unspoiled. Our communal lunch at a small local's cafe was authentic and delicious. This was memorable and so much fun.

Although the medieval villages start to blend together, our guide, Christian, always described the unique importance of each one. Our guide had an excellent knowledge of the local history and the wines of the region. The guide can’t know the group dynamic when the tour is booked, but fortunately we had a fun group that added to the experience.

We booked this trip on the 4th of Nov 22 in the last few days of out tour in France and it turned out to be one of our best tours. Didier is not only our driver , he is our history teacher , photographer and a great guide . We did not feel rush and everything was done according to our pace . Standby extra batteries for your phones or cameras because you will surely need it as every corners you turn , you will be attracted by the colourful architecture .Kudos to Didier who makes our trip a memorable one .

I wish I could write two separate reviews! Tour guide, tour guests, food, weather and scenery were incredible!
Honestly, I would have given this tour a 5/5, but it was severely disappointing to find out on the last stop of the tour that the wine tasting was cancelled, due to it being NYE.
This should have been advertised up front, or some other accommodations been made. I was so frustrated with this that I’ve requested a refund.
Lesson learned- call and confirm that all advertised components of the tour will actually be provided.
Aside from the lack of advertised wine tasting,
it was a lovely day.

This tour with Didier is the best tour we have take in our month in France. He is a terrific guide with good English skills and great knowledge of the history, architecture, and the culture of the region. Didier set a leisurely pace and read our group well. He asked for our feedback to make sure we were satisfied with the pace and information he was sharing which tour leaders rarely do. We highly recommend this tour as the best way to see these 4 famous villages in Alsace. Ask for Didier as your guide and you will have a great day

What an action packed trip! As well as the visit to the 4 wonderful villages, Christian took us on a few ‘extras’, such as Haut-Koenigsbourg castle and the Sigolsheim memorial view point. The wine tasting was also excellent - we expected a quick stop and maybe a couple of wines but we were there for ages and I think we tasted 12 (at the last count!!)
Be prepared for a long day - we were out over 10 hours and I think Christian would have kept going had it not been for our dinner reservation that evening!
There’s nothing to choose between the 4 villages, there’re all slightly different and have their own charm and character - the highlight for us was the climb to the ruined castle overlooking Kaysersberg, well worth the 10 minute pull to the top.

We had a great day with our guide, Didier! He was very knowledgeable and gave us so much insight into local customs, culture, and history. The van was comfortable. There was plenty of time at each village. Didier would take photos for us and it was not a problem to step into shops as we went on the tour. The wine tasting at the end was fun too. We recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your visit to the region so you can go back to your favorite places and explore more. It is a great way to see multiple villages in one day.

We had a wonderful day with Didier exploring the beautiful villages of Alsace. The itinerary is well planned, with just enough time in the villages to get a sense of each location and enjoy the stores and restaurants. Didier provided very relevant and interesting historical information which greatly added to the experience while still allowing ample time for us to explore on our own. The wine tasting stop before the last village provided a fun and delicious break on the tour and highlighted the importance of the Alsace as a major producer of wine. As for the villages - they are breathtakingly beautiful and should not be missed by anyone traveling in Alsace. This tour made it so easy to see them with the expertise of a very personable guide in the comfort of a chauffeured minivan.

This was a fantastic tour to get acquainted with the small medieval wine towns surrounding Colmar. We had sufficient time to visit eat location (4) as well as time for lunch and shopping. The tour ended with a visit to a local winery where you have the opportunity to buy wine afterwards. Bottle prices began at around 6 euros - very good prices by American Standards.
One suggestion: the wine tasting was given by the tour guide. He definitely knew his stuff but it would have been nice to see more of the winery / vineyard and heard from the owner (who was right there). It felt a little rushed at this point but it was a full day and there was so much to take in.

Very enjoyable and informative tour. Our guide Didier was exceptional, his relaxed and friendly manner was interspersed with good humour. He made everyone feel included even though we were two different groups.

Is there any free time in each of the 4 villages to walk around and explore?
Written 5 August 2022
The villages are small anyway. The guide tour gave us a good view of the villages and where we had lunch, you could go and have a wander.
In a Wine Tasting tour, the 1st village "eguisheim" we visited is the largest of the village and the guide did allow us to wander for 45 minutes.
I recommend the villages and the wine tasting tour.
